National Flag/Bandera Nacional

The National Flag was officially recognized on February 2, 1889 by French-Achaean artist Rogelio Beuachamp, in time for the Independence Day Centennial. It was most recently updated and modernized in 2009. It is known as the Candelaria by locals, owing to the national Independence Day coinciding with the feast day of the Virgin of the Candelaria, as well as the red-yellow flame shown in the flag.

The blue stripes stand for the Achaean Republic's many water sources: lakes, rivers, reservoirs, crystalline beaches, and rain.
The white stripes stand for the clouds in the sky, which bring forth the purity of its people.
The green canton stands for the abundance of the country's fauna and flora, which has allowed it to flourish into prominence.
The red and yellow flames stand for the fire inflamed in the struggle for our freedom under the protection of our patron saint, the Virgin of the Candelaria (Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria). Red and yellow also grant a curt nod to Spain, the nation's former colonizers, through which––despite our many differences––stand grateful of leaving behind a beautiful language and legacy.
