The United Kingdom of Caracosta is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Queen Marianne with an iron fist, and renowned for its rum-swilling pirates, public floggings, and enslaved workforce. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless population of 4.758 billion Caracostans are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The relatively small, corrupt, pro-business, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Education, Industry, and Defense. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Point Royal. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 7.6%.

The frighteningly efficient Caracostan economy, worth a remarkable 1,071 trillion jaunes a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Retail, Arms Manufacturing, and Uranium Mining. Black market activity is notable. Average income is an amazing 225,140 jaunes, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 2,049,162 per year while the poor average 2,801, a ratio of 731 to 1.

Spiritual tourists meditate in the ruins of Caracostan cathedrals, pilots always remember to send their doctors a Maxxmas card, just as students finish their homework it's time for school, and global anti-terrorist organisations strongly suspect Caracosta of supplying extremist groups. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, despite the fact that it is difficult to make it through a day without breaking one of the country's many laws. Caracosta's national animal is the porcupine, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Gourdianism.

Caracosta is ranked 19,187th in the world and 336th in The East Pacific for Largest Governments, scoring 30.9 on the Bureaucratic Comprehensiveness Rating Scale Index.
