The Republic of Excise is a colossal, genial nation, renowned for its multi-spousal wedding ceremonies, ubiquitous missile silos, and devotion to social welfare. The compassionate, humorless, devout population of 8.028 billion Exciseans are prohibited from doing almost everything except voting, which they do timidly and conservatively.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Administration, Law & Order, and Defense. The income tax rate is 100%.

The frighteningly efficient Excisean economy, worth a remarkable 2,168 trillion currencies a year, is driven almost entirely by government activity, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector is solely comprised of the Arms Manufacturing industry. State-owned companies are the norm. Organ donation is compulsory, police officers have been re-kitted with designer uniforms and gold-plated handcuffs, declaring that "some kids are just born evil" is not endearing Leader to progressive thinkers, and invasive drug testing is now performed at elementary school sports days. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Excise's national animal is the animal, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
