The Republic of Flecht is a colossal, efficient nation, renowned for its zero percent divorce rate, flagrant waste-dumping, and restrictive gun laws. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless population of 7.802 billion Flechtians are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The relatively small, corrupt, pro-business government is effectively ruled by the Department of Industry, with Environment and Social Policy not funded at all. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 48.0%.

The frighteningly efficient Flechtian economy, worth a remarkable 2,306 trillion currencies a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Basket Weaving industry, with significant contributions from Uranium Mining and Woodchip Exports. Black market activity is rampant. Average income is an amazing 295,665 currencies, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 1,954,547 per year while the poor average 17,259, a ratio of 113 to 1.

When conspiracy theorists talk about "government moles" they're referring to mysteriously mobile skin lesions, every political office comes fitted with a typewriter and an old filing cabinet, actively encouraging climate change is helping reduce winter fuel costs, and the CEO of Laws Incorporated must sign off on all new bills. Crime is so common that it is unusual to encounter someone following the law, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Flecht's national animal is the animal, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Flecht is ranked 97,030th in the world and 7th in Vickenian experiment containment zone for Largest Furniture Restoration Industry, scoring 3,170.24 on the Spitz-Pollish Productivity Index.
