Religion in Frieden-und Freudenland

Frieden-und Freudenlandians have full religious liberty. Everyone has the right to believe or to not believe and anybody who opposes to this freedom or attempts to restrict other people's religious freedom, is severely punished.

However, Frieden-und Freudenland is a secular country and one of the unalterable principles of the country is to not provide any financial support to any sect. The State is essentially irreligious. All temples in the country are built and maintained with the donations of their respective congregations.

Frieden-und Freudenlandians have enough experience to know that clergy is dangerous, since people who are given religious authority are often tempted to abuse it to promote themselves, whereby they also (be it willingly or unwillingly) create an atmosphere that cherishes religious extremism and intolerance towards non-believers. For this reason, there is no clergy in Frieden-und Freudenland. People are their own spiritual guides.

Most people in Frieden-und Freudenland are atheists, agnostics, and deists. In addition to these, there are minorities who have belief systems based on worshipping natural deities. There are no followers of the exclusionary monotheistic religions, though believing in such religions is certainly not prohibited by the State.

Every citizen of Frieden-und Freudenland has the right to openly talk about his/ her religious beliefs and to take part in any religious debate that may pop up. As most Frieden-und Freudenlandians are keen writers, they often write and publish pamphlets where they extensively lay out their views about religion.

However, people of Frieden-und Freudenland dislike people who try to propagate their own religion - and people who try to publicly denounce another belief system or strive to prove that their belief system is superior to another one are subject to criminal investigation. However no punishment for religious propaganda has yet been given to anyone, since no citizen has attempted to violate this fundamental principle that ensures the happiness and social harmony of all Frieden-und Freudenlandians.
