The Technocracy of Greatis is a colossal, orderly nation, ruled by Great Mind with an iron fist, and notable for its ubiquitous missile silos, prohibition of alcohol, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless population of 8.755 billion Greatisans are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The tiny, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Mainframe. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient Greatisian economy, worth a remarkable 3,133 trillion Credits a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Retail, and Uranium Mining. Black market activity is frequent. Average income is an amazing 357,926 Credits, but there is an enormous disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 2,002,112 per year while the poor average 31,815, a ratio of 62.9 to 1.

Rare steaks seem even bluer now, major corporations receive tax breaks for no apparent reason, comedians who make offensive jokes have their ticket proceeds seized, and holiday-makers leave on the same clandestine boats that illegal immigrants arrive in. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Greatis's national animal is the Snakupine, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Greatis is ranked 154,924th in the world and 2,840th in The North Pacific for Largest Trout Fishing Sector, scoring 1,393.54 on the Nemo Depletion Efficiency Index.
