The Socialist Republic of New Aust is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by Raúf Gĥerĵma with an iron fist, and notable for its frequent executions, compulsory military service, and keen interest in outer space. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 1.951 billion Austriaks are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The large, corrupt, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Gĥerĵmasborg. The average income tax rate is 82.5%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Austriak economy, worth 286 trillion Austriak Lire a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, broadly diversified black market in Information Technology, Tourism, Arms Manufacturing, and Beef-Based Agriculture. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 146,935 Austriak Lire, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Tom and Jerry cartoons have cat and mouse resolving their problems with reasoned discussion, artists from across the nation compete to renovate the restrooms of old government buildings, there's a lot of mouth-breathers about these days, and the military is recruiting war criminals to join its weapons research teams. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Aust's national animal is the Austrian Horse, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Atheism.

New Aust is ranked 162,641st in the world and 693rd in Europe for Highest Workforce Participation Rate, with 68.16 Workforce Participation Rate.
