The Eastern Commonwealth of Independent States is an intergovernmental military alliance formed as stipulated by the Treaty of Nolon. It currently comprises of five member states, all of whom cooperate based on the principle of collective defence. The alliance formed from the Treaty of Nolon in 2019, which was signed by the alliance's founding members as a counterweight to the rising dominance of western powers and instability ever-prevalent in the region.

After the First Imperial War, the Free Powers set about attempting to ensure that the region would not return to the same conditions as 1946, looking towards a brighter and better future. Empires soon underwent extensive de-colonisation, and the political landscape seemed to be carefully balanced. Unfortunately, this state of affairs could not last, as the major powers soon grew further apart.

Today, the region is dominated by aggression and mistrust, as it had been decades ago. The East is overwrought with conflict, from San Javier to Charbagnia. Meanwhile, regional power and influence are held tightly within the hands of a few western nations. It is imperative that a balance of power is restored to the region. That was the guiding mission behind the signatories of the Treaty of Nolon, who sought to rectify this political imbalance and to present a powerful statement of unity towards a divided region.

As a military organisation, the ECIS is committed to the peaceful resolution of conflict around the region and to the successful coexistence between its members. It is, however, militarily capable in crisis-management situations should efforts for a peaceful diplomatic resolution fail, as the alliance is comprised of the combined military strength of its members and a number of ECIS units. Collective defence is one of the most important tenets of the ECIS, as a threat to one member is treated as one to every member. The ECIS is constantly monitoring the various threats posed by an unstable region, ready to react to situations at a moment's notice should the need arise.

Politically, the ECIS strives to provide equality for all of its members, promoting active and positive discourse between each other. Within the chambers of the Eastern Commonwealth Council, each member can help to make decisions for the alliance and its position in the region.
