The Egyptian Kingdom of Paglaum is a gargantuan, efficient nation, ruled by Prime Minister Lucien Najjar with a fair hand, and notable for its multi-spousal wedding ceremonies, anti-smoking policies, and digital currency. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic, humorless population of 11.854 billion Paglaumians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The relatively small, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Wilwatikta. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 20.3%.

The frighteningly efficient Paglaumian economy, worth a remarkable 2,114 trillion Paglaumian Guilders a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Tourism, and Book Publishing. Black market activity is frequent. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 178,388 Paglaumian Guilders, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 577,461 per year while the poor average 41,614, a ratio of 13.9 to 1.

School plays were recently banned due to concerns of child endangerment, a blood-red mark on the doorframe means a building must be passed over for destruction, high-tech infantry rifles automatically reload when the soldier shoots outside the screen of their helmet HUD, and photographers can be found hiding behind the curtains in Prime Minister Lucien Najjar's bedroom. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Paglaum's national animal is the Eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Paglaum is ranked 10,033rd in the world and 14th in The Coalition of Democratic Nations for Most Developed, scoring 89.76 on the Human Development Index.
