New Canids

New Canids are intelligent dogs and wolves, created by their ancestors' exposure to mutagenic weapons in Michigan and surrounding areas during the Final War. In Renewed Detroit, they were granted citizenship and legal equality with humans in 2328.

Most New Canids are one of two types: those with opposable thumbs and those with strong mental powers. Together, they make up almost 90% of the New Canids in Renewed Detroit.

Thumb Canids -- as they're commonly called by our human population -- have extra digits on their paws that act as opposable thumbs. They can handle tools and other objects that require a solid grip, though not as easily as humans can.

Mind Canids have at least one mental mutation that allows them to more directly control objects near them. Those mutations are invariably Magnetic Control, Mental Control, Telekinesis, or Telekinetic Arm. Mind Canids are also Empaths.
