On Treasure Hunters: a Rising Phenomenon

Treasure Hunters in Shaytan Ukhiross

The Pale Madness and the Shatterfire

A.D. 2013 is not known within SHAYTAN UKHIROSS as the Year of the Grand Strife without reason. With the rise of a deadly disease known as the Pale Madness in the northern region of Shyrog began a massive southward migration of both people and capitals. Many of the nation's former tycoons chose to settle in remote meridional harbors, mainly within the region of Thaross, where at the time it was believed the disease would not spread. And while spread it did not, this choice of exile eventually signed their demise. Later in the year, the great seism known as the Shatterfire tore the great island of Radia apart. Most of Thaross sunk beneath the waves, taking with it all the rich exiles and their legacy.

A Most Logical Consequence

There were report of treasure hunters operating from the coastline of Attyras, the southernmost remnant of Radia, even before Steward Adle Loyrim was declared regent and the situation stabilized - a term which, after all, should be interpreted with utmost caution: bloody wars are still ongoing in Terre-Nouvelle at the very time this article is written. As of mid-2014, treasure hunt has become widespread in the south, where Attyras and the narrow bays left by former mountains offer a convenient refuge for those who seek the exiles' lost legacy. From their hidden bases, men and women from Shaytan Ukhiross and beyond sail forth with the hopes of getting rich quickly - and not falling prey to buccaneers their activities have, in turn, attracted.
