The Free Land of Solisemba is a very large, socially progressive nation, notable for its irreverence towards religion, punitive income tax rates, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, democratic population of 105 million Solisembans love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

The enormous, socially-minded, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Education, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 67.8%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but sluggish Solisemban economy, worth 1.70 trillion pesos a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Beef-Based Agriculture and Uranium Mining. Average income is 16,148 pesos, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The nation wears its high incidence of chromosomal diseases as a badge of pride, hostage-takers offer loyalty scheme points for prompt payment, the lactose-intolerant are force-fed cheese products with predictably gassy results, and military officials are questioning the policy of ceding the nation's territory in exchange for promises not to invade it. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Solisemba's national animal is the Turtle, which can occasionally be seen avoiding garbage in the nation's murky oceans.

Solisemba is ranked 157,419th in the world and 6,322nd in the South Pacific for Largest Gambling Industry, scoring -10.66 on the Kelly Criterion Productivity Index.
