On the Origins of Terra Draconia

-----BEGIN OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT TRANSCRIPT-----

The people of Terran Draconia proudly hail from the distinguished natives of the land we live on. Believed to have lived in these lands since the first appearance of man, the citizens of our nation stand tall and proud in the knowledge that their land has always been theirs and in the united belief that these lands will always have Draconia flags flying over them. Fiercely proud of our history, many lessons learned from our ancestors echo within the hearts and minds of the people today. The nation of Terran Draconia is only a fledgling power, a young nation newly borne of a concerted effort of several clan leaders. As many historians believe it was like for the most primitive ancestors of Draconia, the lands of Terra Draconia was, until only recently, fractured and split between several conflicting clans. The clans held little animosity and hate for each other, the conflict merely a result of their land and the scars remain today, of what, no one knows. The barren lands mark the warning our ancestors left us, and the struggles we face and blood we spilt in meaningless conflict merely us repaying whatever our ancestors had done.

Studies done in our scientific community examining various geological features, sedimentary rock, and fossils strewn around our land, all concur that this land was once a rich lush environment and teemed of wildlife. This knowledge only makes the desert mirages more tangible, as if they were ghosts and spirits of a world long ago. Strangely enough, this barren soil is rich and the ground is solid and sturdy. The farms we grow return bountiful harvests and the bedrock we build our skyscrapers and foundations on has yet to crack in the worst of earthquakes and not an instance of sinkholes have been seen within our borders. Even our mines report unexpected pockets of minerals in what was thought to be empty zones. So the same question plagues every scholar's mind. In such a bountiful and accommodating environment, what happened to all the life... and what had happened to the nation that stood before us?

In deep caves and preserved among the fossils, we found proof that once a prosperous and powerful empire stood upon our lands, a world of unimaginable technological advancement, an incomprehensible wealth of resources, and a population of uncountable proportions. But no traces after that, nothing that would signify a downfall, nothing that shows their destruction, nothing that showed any kind of decline in any form. One key element to figuring out our past may be the Flying Lizards that populate our cities. While the scarce other species in the region clearly migrated unto these lands, the Flying Lizards adhere exclusively to these regions, attempts to study them in other nations result in their prompt death or radically different behaviors, unsuitable for any study. Yet little unusual has been unearthed there and other available sources of information only point to growing prosperity and success up to the very end...

The other nations claim to have no information about what happened, we doubt some yet at the same time have little reason to, what could they know about something that occurred long before recorded history anyways? Since history began to be written, our lands were barren and only flying lizards inhabited the otherwise lifeless expanse. Our people have always been divided clans, technologically weak and culturally absent. However, with the bold first steps taken towards a brighter future for our people, perhaps we can be even more than those that came before us. Let the lessons our ancestors taught us, unity, resilience, and strength, guide us as we prepare to leave our own mark, not on our land but on the world. May the lessons we one day teach our descendants not be one of what could've been but instead, of the lengths and growth they can reach for as one and not many. May the heat of the flames of our past battles, and the fire of passion that burns within, lift you, to soar higher in the heavens.

Thank you.
