The Dominion of The Asassids is a huge, safe nation, notable for its soft-spoken computers, state-planned economy, and punitive income tax rates. The cynical population of 600 million Asassidsians are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, socially-minded, well-organized morass — juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 73.1%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but sluggish Asassidsian economy, worth 14.4 trillion pesos a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, quite specialized black market in Uranium Mining, Cheese Exports, Pizza Delivery, and Information Technology. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 24,038 pesos, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

'I'm Coming Out' has shot to the top of the nation's music charts, where there's a will there is usually a password manager, Rupert Bear is considered to be the most risqué TV programme in The Asassids, and banned objects are regularly legalized if they've been successfully stolen from the government. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Asassids's national animal is the Falcon, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

The Asassids is ranked 181,303rd in the world and 5,920th in Balder for Lowest Overall Tax Burden, scoring -7.48 on the Hayek Index.
