The Austratt Empire

Population164 million

The Federation of The Austratt Empire is a very large, orderly nation, notable for its compulsory military service, aversion to nipples, and irreverence towards religion. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 164 million Germans are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The medium-sized, moralistic, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Welfare. The average income tax rate is 41.3%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The German economy, worth 7.16 trillion Reichsmarks a year, is dominated by the Trout Farming industry, with significant contributions from Beef-Based Agriculture, Information Technology, and Soda Sales. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 43,643 Reichsmarks, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.6 times as much as the poorest.

Delivery truck companies use hospital parking lots to store 16-wheelers, farmers have taken to hunting billionaires who encroach on their land, relations with Dàguó have warmed from frosty to chilly, and the fate of the world literally rests on Leader's fingers. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Austratt Empire's national animal is the Eagle.

The Austratt Empire is ranked 116,211th in the world and 3,895th in The East Pacific for Most Developed, scoring 48.95 on the Human Development Index.
