The Empire of The Federal States of YEP is a colossal, orderly nation, ruled by Otto von YEPmarck with an iron fist, and notable for its soft-spoken computers, parental licensing program, and pith helmet sales. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 9.892 billion YEPians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The medium-sized, corrupt, socially-minded government is primarily concerned with Defense, although Education, Administration, and Law & Order are also considered important, while Spirituality and International Aid aren't funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of YEPania. The average income tax rate is 97.4%.

The frighteningly efficient YEPian economy, worth a remarkable 3,600 trillion YEPian Marks a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Uranium Mining. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an amazing 364,000 YEPian Marks, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Peace talks occasionally rack up a higher body count than the wars they seek to stop, environmentalists are advocating slash-and-burn in the nation's forests, the government denies any involvement in the release of the Hot Load computer virus, and stealing from a clothesline is a serious offence. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Federal States of YEP's national animal is the Eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

The Federal States of YEP is ranked 200,429th in the world and 1,903rd in the West Pacific for Largest Timber Woodchipping Industry, scoring 910.81 on the Tasmanian Pulp Environmental Export Index.
