Military Service

In the Militaristic Federation of the Sheika, Military service is a voluntary rite of passage that is performed by all legal citizens regardless of gender, social background, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and so on. A minimum of two years is required for all volunteers who are at least the age of 18. For immigrants seeking Naturalization, a two year term of service is a path to citizenship . In order to be a member of the Senate, a citizen must serve at least four years in a combat-related (Infantry, Armor, Artillery, etc) Mission Occupation Specialty (MOS); the reason for this measure is to ensure that before deciding whether or not the Federation goes to war that members of the Senate understand what service members will face while deployed.

Continued service in the military has a wide range of incentives such as enlistment bonuses, increased rate of pay, career opportunities that can be used in the private sector, as well as the chance to pursue higher education to become a commissioned officer. Citizens who desire to serve as commissioned officers are granted Honorable Discharges and attend Universities on scholarships for four years to obtain a degree. Once they have graduated from a University, they are enrolled into the Officer Candidate School to learn how to lead others as well as function within the higher echelons of the military. Upon completion, graduates become commissioned officers and serve a year to a year contract with chances to advance their careers until they reach the highest position available.

To serve on the Federation's Judicial Panel, citizens must serve a minimum of four years enlisted, attend University, serve as a commissioned officer for no less than four years and attend a Law School of their choosing. The legal corps consists of legal attorneys who served a minimum of four years enlisted, attended University and then Law School. Citizens choosing to work in the field of law enforcement must serve a minimum of four years enlisted.

Any citizen of the Federation can serve; those with special needs are afforded special Specialties as well as other amenities to ensure that all citizens are able to serve. Even those with moral objections can serve as there are many Mission Occupational Specialties that are non-combat related such as Logistics, Personnel, Mental Health, Physical Health, Chaplain positions and Chaplain's assistant positions, Mechanics, Transportation, Food Service, Border Security and more.
