The Republic of Townsvalley is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Prime Minister Mike Harriot with an even hand, and notable for its aversion to nipples, avowedly heterosexual populace, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, hard-working, humorless, devout population of 4.81 billion Civilians enjoy some of the most opulent lifestyles in the region, unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.

The tiny, corrupt, liberal, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Industry, Administration, and Environment. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Newlands. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 4.9%.

The frighteningly efficient Civlized economy, worth 368 trillion Hektes a year, is quite specialized and mostly made up of the Retail industry, with significant contributions from Uranium Mining and Basket Weaving. Average income is 76,666 Hektes, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 492,224 per year while the poor average 4,856, a ratio of 101 to 1.

People often get liposuction to reduce their air fares, the Newlands XV Regiment (aka "The Goat Starers") have yet to win a battle, beggars on the street are often heard asking for spare votes, and the nation's latest batch of politicians include internet comedians, an alleged serial killer, and a highly trained Markhor. Crime, especially youth-related, is all-pervasive, probably because of the absence of a police force. Townsvalley's national animal is the Markhor, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Townsvalley is ranked 219,611th in the world and 9,124th in The North Pacific for Least Corrupt Governments, with 81.15 Percentage Of Bribes Refused.
