Of Eagles and Hummingbirds: The Senelo-Aguarian War - PART 2

April 30, 2158:

The War Room of AMS Promite – Unenlagia’s Master Plan

(The name of this carrier is pronounced Proh-MEE-tay. Its namesake is the ancient chief who first unified the Aguaria Majorian archipelago into one nation)

Unenlagia sat, quiet, alone in his war room, deliberating with his thoughts, steaming, with the ENTIRE Aguarian Navy, aside from a comparatively small number of carriers and Crown-of-Dundee-classes that were currently protecting the home islands for reasons about to be discussed, towards Senelux, to execute the plan outlined below, Unenlagia having just ordered it. Aguaria Major was on the offensive. Iknasonu Island was basically a smoking pile of rubble, with the city there having a gaping hole in the middle of it, and the naval station there, as well as what had been left from the previous attack on the air base there, had been completely obliterated, with his section of the Guardians of Iknasonu (the 17 remaining Rodriguez-classes, the 7 remaining Yonamine-classes, and the AMS Promite itself) having departed from the base full of battle-damaged hulls only hours before the attack happened to set off for Parulid City in Ceruleus (a plan which was promptly aborted once the Seneluxian flying ships had attacked Iknasonu, in favor of plan about to be outlined one below), and the Red Marines of the Phoenix’s breath had been stopped in their tracks. They were waiting for reinforcements, as around a quarter of their forces were decimated on their first charge. These Seneluxians meant business, so swift, rash action had to be taken so he could finish them off before any real damage could be done.

But, on the plus side, Senelux’s navy, after Iknasonu, aside from their fleet of flying aircraft carriers, was almost completely on the defensive. And with Aguaria Major’s superior numbers and prowess in naval combat, and their ships’ superior speed, all naval resistance on Senelux’s behalf could be completely crushed if Aguaria Major’s entire navy was deployed along Senelux’s coast. But only if it was done so with haste. This is why they were heading there now. If this was done, the Aguarian Navy’s enormous guns, which, when the entire Aguarian Navy was combined, could unleash enough firepower to reduce a small nation’s entire surface area to rubble, from Senelux’s coast, could not only obliterate the beachhead there, but, due to their large range of over 50 miles on the smallest standard Aguarian Navy gun (which was still 3 entire FEET in diameter), with the 25-foot bruisers on the Yonamine-classes being able to hit targets over 300 miles away, decimate the artillery in the 2 cities that lay in the Red Marines’ path, clear a path for even more Aguarian ground troops to march into Senelux, and cement a front in the nation to furiously march into the Seneluxian capital, but also form a blockade that, in addition t Insignis bombardment’s leveling of any airports in the nation, thus preventing air trade from replenishing Senelux, could keep Senelux from being resupplied by sea as well. This plan was almost perfect. Almost.

Aguaria Major still had 2 major problems: The flying aircraft carriers, and that nasty little Yukikaze. After Unenlagia had found out about that monstrous plane, he almost tore the head off a sailor on The Promite that told him not to worry. The aircraft carriers, being airborne, could attack Aguaria Major at any time, even if the rest of the Seneluxian navy was shark bait. And the Yukikaze?

There was not much to be done in the matter of that stupid little bugger.

The flying aircraft carriers could be effectively combatted. Aguaria major had enough aircraft carriers (to provide fighter power), and 9 remaining Crown-of-Dundee classes (OOC: flying battleships with 17 x massive 8-FOOT guns; read up on their specs in my second post. END OOC.) not currently reducing the Seneluxian capital to rubble along with the Insignises, which would be stationed around military bases in Aguaria Major’s West, as this was where all Senelux’s efforts had been concentrated so far, that if any one of them attempted to attack an Aguaria Majorian city, they could be immediately combatted in the air, and shot down. The Crown-of-Dundee-classes were able to match the Seneluxian vehicles in speed, and if the 5,000-foot-long Aguaria-Major-class hypercarriers (of which there were 14, with each carrying over 1000 Predator Star-fighters, with this being the fastest production fighter in the world, so as to provide escorts to Insignis bombers, thus being propelled with the same hybrid engine technology, and boasting swing-wing technology that allowed it to morph from a delta into a swept-wing dog-fighter, and retractable tail-planes and canards paired with a 5-engined design, 3 of which possessed thrust-vectoring capabilities to make it extremely maneuverable; OOC: if you don’t know what this looks like, Senelux, look at the infographic image I shared with you, and imagine the shape of the Insignises, with its engines underneath and side intakes for the odd-one-out central engine in the fuselage’s center, but for 1 person, and the delta being able to swing into a swept-wing. END OOC.) were used to defend the home islands from the flying ships of Senelux, as these were hydrofoils capable of 450 mph when foil-borne, then any threat posed by the flying ships could be quickly responded to in minutes, even if the Seneluxians managed to attack where any of the Crown-of-Dundee and Aguaria Major-classes weren’t, and with deadly force, as each Aguaria Major-class carried 5 guided Patagona-8 guided missiles that were the largest in the world, each at 500 feet long, and 50 feet wide. They were meant for destroying entire enemy naval bases in only a few hits, so if any one of the Seneluxian ships was hit with them, it would mean instant death for them, especially considering that they traveled faster than the Insignises, at almost 40,000 mph, to avoid being shot down by AAAs before they reached their targets And if Insignis payloads were concentrated on air bases and mooring stations for the Seneluxian flying ships, they’d have nowhere to go, and eventually either run out of fuel and end up derelict, or be forced to mount last-ditch attacks at Aguaria Major, which meant there would be no retreat and that the Aguaria Majorians would have enough time with them that their superior numbers of planes, and/or the superior firepower and numbers of their ships, that eventually, someone would land a lethal hit. And on the off-chance a Seneluxian flying ship attacked a target that wasn’t within immediate responding range of the Aguaria Majorian flying ships and/or carriers, round-the-clock, sweeping fighter patrols across the entire archipelago, with all Aguaria Major’s planes combined, could identify and effectively combat the threat in minutes. And with the number of Predator Starfighters Aguaria Major had, even this could mean a very swift death for the Seneluxian flying boats.

There was also the devious little fact that once Aguaria Major launched its entire navy, and that of Ceruleus, at the Seneluxian coast, most, if not all of the flying ships of Senelux, would probably be diverted back to the homeland to counter the advancing threat of Aguaria Major’s entire navy, where the vastly overwhelming numbers, firing their bus-sized shells into the sky, would, by sheer probability, eventually pound the Seneluxian ships out of the sky, correcting the problem of the flying Seneluxian ships that way. But he had to be prepared. The last time a land war was fought on Aguaria Majorian soil was during their revolution in 1346. Either way, the flying ships could be combatted very effectively. His plan to deal with the flying ships had been dispatched to his commanders, admirals, and generals not half an hour ago, with emphasis put on the concentrated Insignis payload delivery on air bases and mooring yards for the flying boats. Oh, and ESPECIALLY the Seneluxian defenses currently holding up the Red Marines of the Phoenix’s Breath. Including the artillery at the 2 cities. Very effectively, they could be dealt with…. His mind drifted.

But the Yukikaze…. How could he do it?

The bright side was that it was one single plane, so all it would take would be one hit. And that if the Air Bases in Senelux were decimated by the Insignises, there wouldn’t be that many places for it to land, if any. That might take care of the problem eventually, but he had to be sure, and he had to be swift – he was ahead in this war, and had Senelux on the defensive, and this was thanks to the Insignises. If he lost these to the Yukikaze, he would lose that lead.

The dark side was that the blasted thing could outmaneuver any missiles fired at it from the Insignises’ turrets or from any Predator Starfighter, and even the fastest, most maneuverable human-piloted fighter in the world itself – the Predator Starfighter. So scoring a hit on it would be near impossible. And it could keep up with the Insignises at speeds in excess of 25,000 mph, so any ground-based way of dealing with it was off the table. How could he do it….

He thought about this for hours before a call came through on his video-phone. It was Altair Ornea, Grand Marshal of the Aguarian Air Force. Standing behind him was a small, awkward-looking teenager.

“What it is it, Altair?” asked Unenlagia.

“Very good news. I have the answer to our Yukikaze problem,” Ornea said, his mouth almost frothing with excitement.

“WHAT?! What is it?” Unenlagia shouted with glee.

“He has it.” Ornea pointed to the teen in the background. “Prime Minister, this is Adiiv Sho, a graduate student from Azulinai University who is currently an intern with the Air Defense Corps. He has been experimenting in his free time with a weapon so volatile that you don’t even have to hit the Yukikaze to down it. Forever. Adiiv?”

“Oh, er, uh…” The teen stumbled forward, scrambling to keep himself from dropping the many technical documents he was carrying.
“Speak up son. I have a battle to get to,” said Unenlagia dryly.

Sho spoke: “Er, uh… Hello, Prime Minister. I have a question for you. Have you ever heard of chlorine trifluoride?”

“No,” replied Unenlagia.

“Well, you’re never going to forget it now. It is the most volatile substance known to man. It is a gas so reactive that anything it touches, even water, Teflon, or ASBESTOS, will burst into a ravenous, furious, quick-burning fire that cannot be extinguished. If this sounds too good to be true, I assure you, it is not [OOC: Senelux, google this stuff. I’m not making any of it up. END OOC.]. The bottom line is, I have designed a weapon that, if fired from a turret on one of the Insignis bombers anywhere NEAR the Yukikaze (which is a huge plus since you don’t even have to hit it), will release a massive cloud of chlorine trifluoride that will start a rapidly-burning fire, fueled by the very air, that will consume this rogue AI, ignite it, and not stop burning until it runs out of fuel. Or, in layman’s terms, until the Yukikaze is nothing but a pile of ashes. Now, I remind you, this stuff is incredibly unstable, so…”

“Dude, I really don’t care. Son, you’ve just saved Aguaria Major. You will be awarded the Grand Star of the Air Force for this. Your country will be forever grateful to you. Altair, start production of this weapon. TOMORROW. I want these fire-rockets on the Insignises as soon as possible,” interjected Unenlagia, “Order the director of AMASA [the Aguaria Majorian Aernautics and Space Administration] to fill his space shuttles to the brim with these things and send them up to every Insignis refueling station there is. And don’t tell him to stop. Tell him to keep doing these supply runs until I tell him to stop. Which, spoiler alert, won’t be any time soon. This may seem excessive to just deal with the Yukikaze, but these, if modified into bombs, can be extremely effective in attacking Seneluxian cities and air force bases. GO DO IT NOW! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!”, Unenlagia shouted. The stress of war was obviously starting to get to the Prime Minister, given that maniacal laugh at the end.

“Uhh [Ornea stammered, obviously disturbed by the Prime Minister’s mad cackle]… Yes, sir! Ornea out!” The Air Marshal hung up.

Unenlagia was giddy. The advent of this new weapon meant that once they killed the Yukikaze, his Insignis fleet would be unstoppable! He could pound Senelux until they gave in, even if his ground operations failed! This war was going extremely well. Now, he had to get some rest.

300 Miles off Senelux

At this point in the ocean, the combined navy force of the ENTIRE Ceruleo-Aguarian Commonwealth, from every corner of the world – from Lavendoria, in Africa, Nation of beefheart, in Asia, Every name i tried was already taken, off South America, Ceruleus, in sub-Antarctic waters, and Aguaria Major’s home islands, in Polynesia – rendezvoused, and headed for the Seneluxian coast. They were an almost unstoppable force at this point. They were 5000 ships strong. They could fight a hurricane, and win.

The beachead at Senelux had been decimated since the Red Marines’ last bout with it thanks to concentrated Insignis payloads being delivered upon it, but the bunker the Seneluxians had set up was dug-in enough so that they had been held up there for days without being harmed while the bombs exploded outside.

Unenlagia called the commander of the Seneluxian Army - the very same one that had taunted the commander after the Red Marines’ defeat - on the video-phone when they were 40 miles out, and uttered unto him this message:

“Senelux, I’ve come for you. Commanding officer at the beachhead where our Red Marines of the Phoenix’s Breath are held up, your time is nigh. As of right now, you can either run as fast as you can away from your current positions, or join the rest of this coastline, and the cities of Seierbung and Ashfeld, in being wiped from the face of the Earth. Your defenses, as you said to my men the day you slaughtered a quarter-million of them, have been very bold, but to think your pitiful nation can hold out against a much more populous nation with a military twice the size of your own, is very foolish of you. Unenlagia out. Oh, and one more thing: if you survive what is about to hit your position, deliver this message to your leader Rudolf – by the time this war is over, I will have personally ripped out your own liver, and BEATEN YOU OVER THE HEAD WITH IT!” The communication was out.

The Seneluxian commander was perplexed. But whatever this was, it could not be good. Especially if the PRIME MINISTER of Aguaria Major was personally calling him. He ordered his men to prepare for battle, despite the pounding of the bombs. At their lookouts, a few minutes after the message, the Seneluxian soldiers could just make out some large, dark shapes on the horizon. As they got closer, the sweeping, slender, beautiful lines of 7 Yonamine-class battleships came into view. This itself was very bad news. But then, even more shapes started appearing. And more. Unenlagia-class supercarriers, cruisers, Washington-class battleships, destroyers… ENORMOUS BLUE WARSHIPS AS FAR AS THE EYE COULD SEE! AND THEY JUST KEPT COMING UNTIL THE HORIZON ITSELF WAS BLOCKED OUT WITH BLUE-PAINTED HULLS!

MEIN GOTT! RETREAT! RETREEEEEEEEEAT!

This is just what the Seneluxians at the beachhead did. To Hell with defending the beachhead – that entire beach would be nothing but rubble in a few minutes.

The Seneluxian Navy, however, did not have that advantage. The Admiral of said navy gave a speech to his fleet before the battle, and all it consisted of were these sullen words: “Men, it has been an honor serving with you. We are about to die, so take as many of these bastards out as you can.”

The Battle of Iknasonu Harbor was, up until that point, the largest naval battle in history. Not anymore.

The largest navy in the world – the floating fury of Aguaria Major - unleashed all their combined firepower on the Seneluxian Navy. In their last stand, the Seneluxians fought valiantly, their entire arsenal being unloaded on the Aguarians and sinking several dozen Aguarian ships. But there were too many of the enemy. Senelux’s navy was kaput. Only a few ships – barely enough to defend a port – managed to escape, stricken and badly damaged. It was more than likely they’d never see combat again. Senelux’s navy was kaput.

Even 3 of their defending P-112s were blown out of the air before the squadron of flying ships retreated. But who needed them? They could be dealt with by means of the backup plan. After the Seneluxian navy was defeated, the Aguarian Navy turned its guns on the land. Shells and missiles pounded the shore, and the Seneluxian position there was erased from physical existence. The reach of the enormous guns, and the huge missiles below decks of the Aguarian ships, left the cities of Ashfeld and Seierbung barely recognizable. No artillery THERE was going to stop another advance. The barrage was so fierce that Insignis pilots over Senelux, at the edge of space, could make out a wall of explosions far below. Said one Insignis crewman upon seeing it, with his jaw dropped: “Whoa. I hope that’s our side unleashing that.” People in cities farther inland said that so many explosions were going off at the same time, far in the distance, that the entire Western sky was colored orange with the fire from the explosions, while a distant, constant thunder strike was heard over it. Planes from the Unenlagia-classes spread round and hit every human settlement they could find within their ranges before returning to the flight decks of the big Aguarian carriers. Senelux’s coastline was basically reduced to rubble. Burns-class ships sped onto the beaches, and troops of the Grand Aguarian Army flooded out like a Pacific tsunami hitting their beaches. Only this was Europe.

So many had landed in this short time, and such a large swath of land cleared of almost any living Seneluxians, that there was no way the Seneluxians could force a retreat from their soil now.

Across Senelux, air force bases and mooring stations for the flying boats, were obliterated by Insignis payloads, while the cities received some relief from the constant bombardment.

It was an orgy of destruction. After it was over, the men on the ships and on the beach cheered, and sang, the song, “Iknasonu, iu Rierai [Iknasonu, my Home]” to honor the smoldering city that was decimated by the Seneluxian counter strike.

In a few days, almost the entire navy, and most of the air force of Senelux had been erased from existence. Aguaria Major was very strong in these areas of combat. But even amidst these overwhelming victories, Unenlagia was still sullen. He knew the months ahead would be grim. Ground combat was by no means Aguaria Major’s strong suit. The Army was by far the least funded military branch in Aguaria Major, due to the strategy that military philosophers have dubbed, “The Aguarian Tsunami”: In every war they had fought, Aguaria Major had relied on its overwhelming Navy and Air Force to pound countries into submission so that when the army arrived, they could swiftly sweep over the remains and fight hand-to-hand with whoever in the enemy army happened to be left. But against these brutes, that strategy might not work. The fierce battle that the numerically superior Red Marines had been involved with before the Aguarian Navy’s arrival was an indicator of this. These bastards would only be dislodged after the blood of millions of Aguarian soldiers had been spilt. Unenlagia even had doubts about whether he himself, being an Army veteran, and a returning Field Marshal, would make it out of this one alive. A tough journey lay ahead.

Aftermath of the Battle of Ashfeld Beach

In the months that followed, not very much happened in terms of either side advancing.

In the skies, the Chlorine-trifluoride rockets had downed the Yukikaze. But this would not matter, for reasons about to be discussed.

In Aguaria Major, the flying ships had made several attacks, but with in a few weeks, the one P-1115 and 3 P-1113s had been blown out of the sky by a Patagona-8 missile, two 1-on-9 battles with the Crown-of-Dundee-classes, and a swarm of Predator Starfighters, respectively, and while these were not all of the Seneluxian flying ships left, after another few weeks, their attacks just stopped coming. What probably occurred was that due to the constant Insignis bombardment of the facilities that would repair and refuel these ships, the flying ships just couldn’t be maintained anymore, and the Seneluxians figured, “well, if they can shoot us down that effectively if we attack them, then what’s the point of beating a dead horse” and abandoned them. The plan of defense from the flying warships had worked, it seemed.

But in Senelux, things were not so positive for Aguaria Major. While it was true that constant Insignis bombardment, now unimpeded by the Yukikaze, had made Seneluxian air defense all but nonexistent, and that the development of chlorine trifluoride bombs for use by Insignis crews had burned several dozen square miles of the country - particularly those being covered by cities or military bases – to the ground, the Aguarian army campaigns were running themselves into walls. All over the country, the Seneluxians had turned the tables and were holding off Aguarian advances everywhere. It had been months since the Battle of Ashfeld beach, and almost no ground had been gained since the Aguarian Navy’s obliteration of anything within the Yonamine-class battleships’ guns’ 300-mile ranges.

It seemed Aguaria Major had hit a dead end, despite their overwhelming naval victories and the almost perpetual bombardment – and now burning – of Senelux’s military and civilian infrastructure. These bastards were not going to give up.

Can Aguaria Major breach the Seneluxian lines and claim victory, or will the fierce Seneluxian Army force a retreat?

November 13, 2158:

Megalith, Senelux

The war room was emptier this time as Rudolf asked all high ranking generals to attend the meeting. If anything, Rudolf was getting more desperate in the war. Rudolf was restless and his hands were visibly shaking, as if he only slept for one hour. The generals surrounding him were in arguments with each other on what the army had to do. To them it felt like the fall of Senelux was coming near.
When intelligence was able to capture photos of the enormous navy ships of Aguaria at the coast of Senelux and when news came out about the guns on these ships could fire hundreds of miles in land, the trench-tactic that was thought to be the saviour of Senelux could soon be irrelevant as the Aguarian reinforcements and supplies could easily breach the lines because of the lack of artillery support.
The naval force of Senelux is wiped out and it now only relied on its declining air force and morale losing ground force. The once so proud Air Marshal proud to sing 'Nothing can stop the Air Force!' has lost his pride since the total obliteration of the P-1000 series aircraft and the downing of Yukikaze.

But when it seemed as if the Aguarians were unable in advancing deeper into Senelux, a sudden sense of both confusion and hope stirred up. It seems as if the trench defense lines were able to halt the enemy from marching land inwards, despite having no artillery support. Forcing the Red Marines off Senelux would be a major victory, but how? The Aguarian navy could totally obliterate any push on the coast from the Seneluxian infantry with their long range cannons.

Rudolf stared around his desk office in Megalith searching for ideas, on the walls filled with the paintings of legendary generals and leaders, from Hannibal from Carthage to Napoleon from France. He stopped and looked at Napoleon and thought about how he, even though having a larger army than the Russians, suffered a deadly defeat in Russia.
How did the the Russians pull it off?
Well, the Russians retreated further inland as the French invaded their lands, however the deeper they went it took supply lines and reinforcements longer to arrive to the French Army, since the Russians also burned everything that could be useful to the French. From food to ammunitions, the French army then suffered from mass starvation. The French army then also had to endure the deadly Russian Winter and when Napoleon reached Moscow, the capital, it was left in flames by his enemy. Napoleon withdrew his army from Russia and out of an original force of 615,000, only 110,000 frostbitten and half starved survivors stumbled back into France.

This was known as the scorched-earth policy, if we could retreat further inland and make the Aguarians follow us, and attempt to cut off their supplies, we could make them starve to death. Also, their navy wouldn't be able to assist them since they're too far away. On the other hand, Rudolf also thought about using another strategy: Concentration of force and defeat in detail, these are the new main priorities for Seneluxian ground forces. Divide the army and use them to defeat small portions of the Aguarian army without facing the full menace, hereby slowly but surely destroying the entire land forces of Aguaria-Major on Senelux.

But what then? Rudolf feared the humongous naval fleet at the shores of Senelux more than anything. If they were to start an invasion of their own, then the Aguarian fleet would be the largest obstacle to hem.
The sheer amount of aircraft Senelux still had, were all stored within the lower levels of the mountain Megalith was located. But even then defeating the naval fleet with the aircraft would be impossible.
Rudolf had an idea: if he was able to build a small amount of submarines and sea mines and lure a portion of the enemy naval fleet into a trap and then destroying it would be fantastic and deal a great blow to the naval force of Aguaria.

But what would the bait be?
...
The very aircraft carrier that the Aguarians nearly destroyed in the naval skirmish that started it all: The U.P.S Daubeny. No repairs were done to the runway but the main systems were restored, it was doubted if she would see battle again, however this ship will now be used as a bait to destroy the naval force of Aguaria. It was drifting in secrecy on the ocean with a skeleton crew, seemingly unnoticed by the Aguarians.

In the months after the Battle of Ashfeld Beach, Senelux had acquired at least 25 submarines and counting and mines were placed in a bay where the trap was supposed to be. The U.P.S. Daubeny was going to sail it's last voyage with a crew onboard knowing they would probably not survive.

November 16, 2158:

Sacrifice of the Daubeny

When the empty aircraft carrier got it's instructions and orders to execute the suicide mission, the sailors aboard sang the national anthem: 'I Vow to Thee, My Country' before going to battle. On the aircraft carrier dummy aircrafts were placed and the flight deck.

Once the Daubeny was sighted, a portion of the Aguarian fleet set sail to pursuit the lone ship, even though it seemed strange for only one ship to show up. Despite being under constant attack from enemy fighters and ship cannons, it managed to reach the bay and zigzagged around the mines. The Aguarian ships continued their chase and were quickly flanked by the submarines to their rear, blocking their escape.
The enemy then stumbled upon the hidden mines placed underwater and a dozen explosions were triggered. Sinking at least four cruisers and severely damaging a Yonamine-class ship. The submarines then moved into position and unleashed their torpedo barrages. Battleships were sunk and so did the Daubeny, which was brutally pounded by the remaining Aguarian ships. The submarines of Senelux were called back and withdrew from the battle, leaving behind the bay filled with sunken ships and damaged ships. The Daubeny went down with the remaining crew and captain onboard. From the 25 submarines the Seneluxians lost 6, leaving them with 19 left.

Withdrawal of Ground Forces

Once word of Rudolf's new strategy and orders reached Commander Seth, he obeyed what he was instructed to do and withdrew the ground forces further in land.
The original trenches were completely abandoned and destroyed in order to prevent the use against them. The corpses of Aguarian Red Marines, some of them unrecognizable and completely dismembered by artillery or other weapons the Seneluxians used, were placed in the expected path the Aguarian ground force would take, with the intent to strike fear in their hearts and to make the think what would happen to them if they would go further mainland. Land mines for both infantry and tanks were placed and food and ammunition supplies were all taken away or burned in flames so the Aguarians couldn't use them.

The new trench line of Senelux, outside the range of the naval battleships, was build the same way as the original one and was defended with the same strategy. However this one was dangerously close to the capital city, Grandermont.
The Army was also divided itself in order to use them to defeat small portions of the Aguarian army with overwhelming force without facing the full army, hereby slowly but surely destroying the entire land forces of Aguaria-Major on Senelux. This were one of the strategies Rudolf suggested.

(A better explanation of the strategies I'm attempting to use is taken from Wikipedia: Defeat in detail, or divide and conquer, is a military tactic of bringing a large portion of one's own force to bear on small enemy units in sequence, rather than engaging the bulk of the enemy force all at once. This exposes one's own units to many small risks but allows for the eventual destruction of an entire enemy force.
Force concentration is the practice of concentrating a military force so as to bring to bear such overwhelming force against a portion of an enemy force that the disparity between the two forces alone acts as a force multiplier in favour of the concentrated forces.)

A Video Message to Aguaria

Rudolf sat in his chair with his military uniform, fully covered in medals and ribbons. While his hair was being combed by his make-up artists. In the background a painting could be seen, the painting showed how a 20th century Seneluxian infantry division fixed their bayonets and stormed to the enemy, killing them in brutal ways one can never imagine.
When he was ready he send his message to the Aguarian Prime Minister, Unenlagia.

"Greetings my Aguarian rival! Do you have your white flag ready? Hehe... Ah, my apologies for not introducing myself, the name is Rudolf Killian Luxenberg, current Director General of the United Provinces of Senelux. It seems your navy has fallen into my little trap I came up with, of course your officers at sea weren't incompetent enough to send the entire fleet after one tiny little ship. But you have to agree that was one hell of a surprise to your sailors! Ha!
Your puny ground forces are being overwhelmed by my larger infantry divisions as we speak, it may not be swift but it is time that you and your toys leave my land! If you don't, your soldier's bellies will be filled with lead and they'll have a pool of their own blood for them to drown in!
If you and your army are trying to win a war, then you're doing a terrible job.

Ad Mortem Inimicis." (Death to the Enemy)

Aguarian Army Main Base Camp, Ruins of What Was Once Ashfeld, Senelux

What was happening? To Unenlagia, it seemed like a nightmare. The overwhelming victories of the start of the war seemed as if they’d happened not 6 months, but six years ago. This blasted ground campaign was turning into a slaughter. While it was true they had made advancements and were now at the gates of the capital, and had killed thousands of Seneluxian soldiers in the process, the Aguarian casualties were almost 3 times the number on the enemy side, and every time the Aguarian army made any sort of advancement, the Seneluxians just ran a few dozen miles back, dug in their heels, and forced them into these trench tactics again. They were relentless, as not even the prolonged bombing campaign with the Insignis fleet for SIX ENTIRE MONTHS, even directly on their positions, could make any sort of dent in their positions without the navy artillery. These Seneluxians were like freakin’ gophers. They just dug and dug. And they had forced Unenlagia into a repeat of WWI, only with better weapons. Senelux actually wasn’t too far from goddamn Flanders! DAMN THEM!

And what was worse, the hit-and-run tactics that Rudolf had outlined meant that the Aguarian Army couldn’t rest. Sleep-deprived and losing morale, the already slow, eternal push toward Grandermont was slowing, and it looked as though a stalemate might be in the offing. If that happened, the only positive thing that would come out of this entire conflict would be that it would take Senelux decades to rebuild the damage done to their nation and, that without foreign aid, their decimated economy would mean the nation would have to declare bankruptcy. Maybe Rudolf wasn’t far off when he had asked Unenlagia about white flags…… NO! SUCH THOUGHTS CANNOT BE HAD! Was it not Winston Churchill who had once said, “if you’re going through Hell, keep going?!” Aguaria Major HAD to keep going. Unenlagia HAD to turn the tide of this war, and FAST.

Aguaria Major was technically winning this war. They had reduced the once very real threat of a potential invasion of their homeland to nothing, routed the ENTIRE NAVY of a profusely powerful nation (this could now be said with certainty as since the sacrifice of the UPS Daubeny, which had only sank a around dozen ships, this being nothing compared to the almost 5000 that were still anchored off the Seneluxian coast, the 243rd Lavendorian Destroyer Flotilla, consisting of 30 destroyers of the Batad-class, Finucane-class, and ultra-light, ultra-nimble Florence-class, all around 1300 feet in length, and its escorts of Matulac-class and Patel-class Attack Submarines, both types 1660 feet long, with their superior numbers, maneuverability, and speed, these last 2 criterion being true of the Matulac-class, which used the hydrofoils on its dorsal and ventral surfaces to act as wings underneath the water and perform acrobatics under the waves the likes of which the world had never seen, had hunted down and finished off all the rest of the 19 Seneluxian submarines from the battle after the Aguarian Navy’s fleet of Park-class Minesweepers, these being the smallest ships in the Navy, with this a bit of an overstatement, as these ships were still over 400 feet long, and basically scaled-down versions of the Rodriguez-class cruiser, possessing a tri-hulled, rocket-powered design that allowed them to skip effortlessly across the surface of the water, had cleared the area of all the Seneluxian mines very quickly thanks to their 330 mph top speed that propelled them out of the range of the mines before the explosion could hit them, given how much water delays the expanding gases of an explosion, with 2 of the 6 remaining Yonamine-classes also being dispatched after this to obliterate every shipyard along the Seneluxian coast so more ships could not be manufactured and surprise Aguaria Major’s navy like that again, which they did swiftly, thus finishing off Senelux’s navy entirely, with help from momentarily concentrated Insignis bombardment of these shipyards as well), and reduced its once-mighty Air Force, which was once so powerful its very motto proclaimed it, “could not be stopped”, to a few dozen planes that had taken refuge in the Megalith with Rudolf to avoid being pounded into rubble with their bases as the Insignises rained destruction on them at this point, as the transfer of the 14 Aguaria-Major-class hypercarriers away from the home front after any threat to the homeland posed by the P-1000 series was neutralized to the coast of Senelux, and the 7000 additional planes they provided to the Navy’s air arsenal, had overwhelmed almost anything that was left of the Seneluxian air force prior to the point of transfer of the hypercarriers. The mighty Wyvern had been consumed by the PREDATOR! They had Senelux COMPLETELY on the defensive, and were, despite the dismally slow pace and pronounced number of casualties, getting closer to the capital every week, while the Seneluxian army, thanks to the bloody guerilla battles initiated by their hit-and-run tactics, was slowly being withered away, albeit at a slower pace than their own army. Hell, the ENTIRE NATION of Senelux was now basically one enormous, smoking pile of rubble, across its entire land area, thanks to the increased carpet bombing efforts by the Insignises, as the number of them in the sky was now growing quickly due to the factories that built their fleet being reactivated when the Yukikaze was still a threat to replenish the fleet if any effective means of combatting it could not be discovered (once the Yuikaze was downed, Unenlagia actually ordered them to INCREASE production of new Insignises so as to decimate Senelux even further), which remained open after its destruction. On paper, the Aguarians had overwhelmed the Seneluxians. Iknasonu, the only place in the home islands that had been hit by the war, was even being rebuilt, taller and mightier than before.

“So,” thought Unenlagia, “WHY THE HELL HAVEN’T WE WON YET?!”

But Unenlagia, in his rational mind, knew exactly why. It was the same reason that the powerful United States Army had lost in Vietnam. It was the reason that this same army once had to use nuclear weapons to force Japan to surrender, as any other means would’ve ended in millions of deaths on their own side. Studying WWII at the military academy had taught Unenlagia a lot. Mostly, this was the importance of a dominant Navy and Air Force, but as of now, this didn’t seem to be gaining him enough sufficient ground to win the war completely. What else had WWII taught him?

And then it struck him like lightning. It was so obvious. How do you bring down a fascist nation with a huge army, and a lot of territory for its army to utilize to their advantage, through an invasion?

The first step was to land, amphibiously, on their coasts from any coastal territory of theirs. This, Aguaria Major had already done. But what was the second step?

OPEN UP TWO FRONTS and spread their army so thin that they would crumble on each side while trying their best to keep the forces on one front or the other from closing in and ending it then and there. THIS is what Unenlagia had been missing, and why Senelux was holding off his advances; the further Aguaria Major got, it wouldn’t matter, as Senelux still had hundreds of miles of their own land to fall back into (no matter how upturned, ruined, and rife with death it was from the constant bombing campaigns) and implement their Russian tactics perfectly. But if another front was opened in this same land, that would mean the Seneluxians would have nowhere to go, and the 2 Aguarian armies could converge and crush the Seneluxians like grapes. And if the 2nd army could come in with haste, and quickly enough, they could be literally at the backs of the Seneluxians, and by surprise, within a few weeks, and surround them, with minimal casualties on the part of the 2nd army. This might even force a surrender.

“Get ready, Senelux,” said Unenlagia at this thought: “for I am implementing Russian tactics of my own now."

Now that this idea was in Unenlagia’s head, he knew exactly how to do it, as he still had a few tricks up his sleeve that would allow him to implement this plan with ease.

The destruction of Iknasonu had seen recruitment numbers skyrocket. This is where all his Army’s numbers had been coming from. There were enough men and women currently in his reserves that he could replace his entire army if he needed to. This hadn’t been the case yet, but these people would now be what he would use to open his second, Eastern front. The 14 Crown-of-Dundee-classes, which, so far, had seen the best service records of any type of ship or vehicle used in this war so far, without one being downed, would be diverted from the duty of the bombardment of Grandermont, and used to fly the troops in. The planes they carried would be transferred to the carriers parked on the coast with the rest of the Navy to make room for as many troops as possible.

But to clear a path for them straight to the Western front, that would allow them quick enough access to take the Seneluxian Army by surprise? This would mean the destruction of any Seneluxians, PERIOD, between the Eastern edge of the country and the Westerm front. Not even his entire fleet of Insignises had this kind of power. He would need a doomsday device to accomplish this kind of destruction.

Fortunately, he had one. And its name was Project Neptune. It was an experimental orbital weapons project that relied on the principle of kinetic bombardment. This was the plain fact of physics that if you put a projectile high enough, i.e. far enough away from Earth while still being within its gravity, it would accelerate so quickly en route to its target that it would have enough kinetic energy to release, upon impact, the same amount of energy as a nuclear explosion from something the size of a telephone pole, if it was dense enough (this is why the projectiles used in kinetic bombardment are simply chunks of solid heavy metals like Tungsten with a few small rocket engines, and a GPS tracker, strapped to them to guide them to their targets should extenuating factors push them off course), could be released WITH NO FALLOUT, or any of the other negative radiological consequences that come with using nukes. And the bigger the projectile, the more power. This is why the 10 Project Neptune Command Stations, in orbit around the Earth 400 miles from its surface, all had the same volume as the ENTIRE HULL of massive, 5000-foot-long Aguaria-Major-class Hypercarrier, even including the giant foil underneath, but with almost twice the surface area, to moor the projectiles. With this size, they could all easily hold several projectiles the size of OCEAN LINERS. These could generate enough energy, on impact, to turn a major metropolitan area, let alone a city, into a CRATER.

The AMASA, and the Aguarian Air Force, had been covertly developing the project for decades, but had never used it, or informed anyone of it, for fear of what the international community would say or do. But now, this did not matter. Aguaria Major would WIN this war at any costs.

Neptune Executes a Strike of his Trident

Unenlagia made some calls that night, to Ignos and Ornea, to arrange the transport of the 2nd Army to the border of Senelux. The massive, 2500-foot size of the flying battleships, with their hangar space now clear of planes, meant that the entire 10-million-man 2nd army (remember that my nation has around 4.5 BILLION people in it; this is easily feasible), could be delivered there within a few days. And the entire armed forces of Senelux were so preoccupied with holding back the Grand Aguarian Army in the west, and so distracted by the continued relentless, perpetual carpet-bombing of their nation, that they did not receive word of the massive force gathering on their Eastern border.

The next call he made was to the Vice Prime Minister currently overseeing the governance of Aguaria Major, Prometheus Samej, a few days later, after the 2nd Army had been moved East of Senelux. It was to prepare the 10 Project Neptune Command Stations to release ALL their payloads at his command and center their targets on every city and town that was even semi-large (there were only around 200 of these ocean-liner-sized chunks of Tungsten; this much of the metal was a bit hard to come by. But they were so large that even if only 200 hits were made, the blast radii would be large enough to consume around 70% of Eastern Senelux); this attack was going to be a one-shot deal (one might be wondering: why don’t I just use these on the Seneluxian position and get it over with? That would mean killing my soldiers, too, unless they backed hundreds of miles out of Senelux, thus giving up THEIR position, which I am not willing to risk.)

He then ordered Grand Air Marshal Ornea to load the entire Insignis crew up with NOTHING but the chlorine-trifluoride bombs, and focus the wrath of the entire fleet on Western Senelux once the Neptune payloads had hit, to burn any trace of civilization that had survived these attacks to the ground (and burn the ground they stood on itself; chlorine trifluoride is THAT reactive), for good measure, to make sure ABSOLUTELY NOTHING stood in the way of the 2nd Aguarian Army; they HAD to race to the Western Front as quickly as possible to surround the Seneluxian Army by surprise.

A day later, he received a call from Ornea saying that his fleet was loaded up, and ready to burn the East of Senelux to the ground once the explosions from the Neptune Payloads had subsided.

This was it. Unenlagia told Samej to give the order.

Destruction then obliterated East Senelux. After the explosions, from space, the area looked like part of the moon’s surface had suddenly been dropped on the East of the country.

And once the Insignises unleashed their chlorine-trifluoride bombs, it looked like a blanket of lava covered the entire area. But these were FLAMES. This was the largest single fire ever recorded. It rapidly burned through the area, leaving nothing but charred black soot in the place of what used to be half of a nation.

Once the fire died, the 2nd Aguarian Army moved like lightning into Senelux, rapidly converging through the burned landscape towards the Western front, sweeping over the land like a tornado. They would be there in days, for there was absolutely no resistance, for there were no Seneluxians there anymore.

From the point of view of the Seneluxians as this event happened, they had no idea what was going on. At first, before the Neptune payloads were delivered, they were relieved that the carpet bombings on their positions had stopped and had thought that maybe this was the beginning of the Aguarians giving up, not knowing that they were being diverted.

But then, as the Neptune Payloads had been delivered, even though they were a few hundred miles away, they suddenly felt a blast of heat, felt the ground shake, and could actually see the explosions themselves in the Eastern sky. The sight was unlike anything that anyone, on either side, had ever seen.

The fight stopped dead for a few minutes as both sides were in awe of the sight in the East. The Aguarians knew what was happening, and still were in awe. Once the Neptune explosions were over, the fighting resumed. The Seneuxians had no idea what had just happened, and most didn’t even believe the Aguarians could be responsible. Afterall, how could something that cataclysmic be caused by anything manmade? But this was another reason Aguaria Major had kept Project Neptune a secret. Afterwards, when the firebombing started, the sky over there was just bright orange, even through the night. The Seneluxians, as they tried to sleep, knew something terrible was about to happen, somehow. They just felt it, their faces illuminated by the fiery sky in the East.

After a few days, they kept the Aguarians held off at the Western Front, but then, a few of them noticed a massive army, stretching across the horizon, of Archilochus-class high-speed tanks, and soldiers, coming over the scorched landscape. There must’ve been MILLIONS of them. As they got closer, it was able to be seen that they were wearing Aguarian uniforms.

Scheisse…..

In the coming hours, the fighting west of the Seneluxians’ positions was intensified while the massive 2nd Army closed in, only 3 miles from the Seneluxian positions. Already their tank artillery had blown massive holes in the Seneluxian force, caught by surprise. They were losing men fast, and the 2nd Aguarian Army was now only a mile from their position…

This was not going to end well for Senelux.

Video Message to Rudolf Luxenberg

BEGIN TRANSMISSION: As the 2nd Aguarian Army closed on the Seneluxian position, Unenlagia, ragged-faced and fatigued from the months of fighting on the front where he led his troops, but with a calm, almost creepy joyful, sadistic vibe about him, spoke in a message transmitted to the Seneluxian leader, with the camera facing East to give him a background of the destruction his forces had caused, and the millions of lives they had just taken:

“Mr. Luxenberg, allow me to formally introduce myself. I am Solitarius Unenlagia, Prime Minister of Aguaria Major, and acting Field Marshal of the 9th Aguarian Heavy Infantry Division. But I’m sure you already know that. But let’s dispense with the pleasantries:

I don’t know if you know this, but the entire Eastern half of your country has been reduced to a flaming lunar hellhole by a few of my “toys”, as you put it, that no one knows about. They cleared a path for a 10-million-man army that is currently converging on your entire forces from the undefended positions in their rear. I slipped them right under your nose! Now wasn’t THAT a nifty trick of deception?! I’m pretty sure it tops your stunt with the Daubeny in almost every way. But anyway, the infantry has not even hit them yet, and the tanks alone have already taken out thousands of your men. My army is walking over your head, through the ruins of Grandermont, as we speak. You cannot win this. As of now, we outnumber your army almost 5 to one, and we have the only air force left in this war, and it is over 20000 planes strong, and sitting out at your coast. I reiterate: you cannot win. If you do not surrender, your entire army will be dead within days.

If you value the lives of your people, then bust out YOUR white flag.

It was a valiant effort, and your forces have done the most damage to the Aguaria Majorian military that has ever been inflicted by any single nation. For that I commend you, General, but I have won. If you do not surrender, Aguaria Majorian forces will kill your entire army as you watch this, unless you surrender, and after that is done, we will dig up that little underground lunchbox you’re currently sitting in, and personally hang you and all your generals. We will take this land for our own as a prize of war and rebuild it as a colony.

CHECK MATE!!!

The choice is yours. Unenlagia out. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH-” The feed cut out. END TRANSMISSION.

Senelux may have met its end….

Senelux

The Seneluxian Army was outnumbered, outgunned, tired and cornered. Since the Aguarian Army landed in East Senelux, or what was left of it, it suffered crushing defeats and was forced to retreat up north into the mountains, allowing Grandermont to be captured. The 4th Division, the only division that suffered the least casualties during the charge of the Aguarian 2nd Army, was tasked with rounding up any civilians left in the cities and to escort them to the north, where they would go to the borders and refuge the country. One of the division's platoons, the 9th Infantry Company, escorted an amount of 150,000 civilians to the border, shouting to the border control of the nations in the north: "Dies ist kein Angriff! Es ist ein Rettungsaktion!"

As the other divisions Seneluxian Army retreated, it moved into the high and snowy mountains near Megalith, during the march hundreds over soldiers froze to death, the survivors of the march prepared to make a last stand at Megalith, unless Rudolf ordered otherwise.
It was getting more and more crowded in Megalith, it was up to Rudolf what to do next, keep fighting or surrender? Allow the nation to fall into the hands of Aguaria Major? Rudolf despised communists, but it seemed he had no other choice than to allow Senelux to be subjected to them.

December 16, 2158:

Conference Room, Megalith, Senelux

"With all due respect, Senelux is at death's door, Director General! We have no other choice than to surrender, sir." A general said. On the walls of the conference room a screen displayed the last video message of Unenlagia. Another screen next to it showed the aerial photographs of East Senelux, or what's left of it, and the Aguarian Army aggressively marching to the capital.
Rudolf himself was in a state of depression, everything he had done to stop the Aguarian invasion, with entire plans and strategies outlined, only to backfire like this.
There was no miracle, no strategy, no nothing that could save Senelux now, surrendering was the only choice now. And may the Aguarians have mercy on the souls of the men and women of Senelux.

A message was sent to the Aguarians, telling them that the sovereign state of The United Provinces of Senelux under command of Rudolf Luxenberg has been defeated by them and that they were prepared to surrender on the terms of the Aguarians. Rudolf asked to sign the capitulation agreement at the nation's former headquarters: The Palace Of the Imperatore, Grandermont.
The Seneluxian Army later surrendered to the Aguarian Forces and those captured by them became POWs.

Before the surrender was announced, Rudolf gave his men a last speech in the hangars in the lower levels of Megalith.
"My fellow Seneluxians. Let me put it straight to you: We've lost this war, and our time as a great power is over. However, you should not forget your pride in your fatherland! We've endured hard times during this war and we still didn't allow these filthy commies from taking our lands! We've fought on land, on sea and in the air. You have done many courageous actions, as you went to the literal lands of hell and returned, you delayed the Aguarian march into Senelux by several months and you proved the Aguarians wrong into thinking that they were unstoppable. You will not be the forgotten men and women of this country, tales about the crew of the Daubeny, Yukikaze, the 77th Air Force Unit, the 9th Infantry Divisions and many more, will be told in the future by our successors as legendary stories from the past. There will be uncertain times ahead, but as I quote the legendary Churchill: 'Never, never, never, never give up!' we shall rebuild Senelux from the ashes and become a superpower once again! Rudolf out."

Now it was up the the Aguarians to approve the Palace of the Imperatore as the place Senelux would officially surrender by signing the capitulation treaty and to decide what to do with Senelux.

December 18, 2158:

Grandermont, Senelux

VICTORY!!!

Senelux had fallen. The huge 2nd Aguarian Army had forced their own army into the mountains and down into the Megalith. The Banner of the Green Star (Aguaria Major's flag) flew, high and proud, from the ruins of Senelux's capitol, somehow still tall and imposing despite being just a husk of twisted bricks and metal, the flag being 200 feet by 450 feet, and enormous. In the distance, soldiers watching Grandermont could, across the pale, snowy sky, easily make out the Red, Blue, Black, Orange and Green of Aguaria Major's colors contrasting with the depressing white blanket of clouds that covered the sky from horizon to horizon. This was confrimation of their leaders' worst fears. Senelux had fallen.

After the Aguarian forces were informed of Senelux's surrender, joyous cheers went up at the message! After the initial scream of joy, cries of, "HURRAH! HURRAH FOR THE AGUARIAN NAVY! HURRAH FOR EVERY INSIGNIS AND EVERY PREDATOR PILOT, AND FOR IGNOS, FOR ORNEA, FOR SAMEJ, AND FOR OUR BRAVE LEADER UNENLAGIA! HURRAH, HURRAH, HURRAH!" Members of the Red Marines of the Phoenix's Breath broke down into tears of joy upon finding out the war was over. They had been subjected to some of the most gruesome experiences in history at the hands of the Seneluxian army, and now the slaughter was over, and it had not been for nothing! AGUARIA MAJOR HAD WON!!! Across the Ceruleo-Aguarian Commonwealth, parties erupted through the streets of major cities, the flags of Ceruleus and Aguaria Major were flown in tandem from every balcony and flag pole, and squadrons of Predator Starfighters flew over the parties, releasing smoke trails of blue, red, black, orange and green, and then bright Cerulean blue, to honor Ceruleus. It was the most joyous day anyone there could remember! Their soldiers had been avenged! After the Seneluxian POWs had been taken in, there was a 2-day-long party among Aguaria Major's armed forcces that went up across the land that was once Senelux. The National Military Band, or what was left of it after the brutal, heinous ground campaign, played the songs of the Navy, Air Force, and Army, the Battle March of the Phoenix's Breath, to honor the Red Marines who had suffered so much, and lost so many, leading the Army's charge into Senelux, "Iknasonu, iu Rierai", and finished out with the rousing, minor brass fanfare of "The Blue Revolution", the national anthem of Aguaria Major, before the dancing began.

As his men danced the night away in the ruins of what were once the finest symphony halls and ballrooms in Grandermont, Unenlagia sent a telegram to the leaders of Senelux. Calling them in person after his sadistic video message might be a bit much, he thought. It read as follows:

The Democratic Communist Empire of Aguaria Major accepts the Palace of the Imperatore as the place Senelux will officially surrender by signing your capitulation treaty.

December 28, 2158:

Palace of the Imperatore, Senelux

On both sides of the massive atrium of the ruined palace, decimated by Insignis payloads, the 2 armies stood, watching the exchange between their leaders. At the front, the parties consisted of, on the Aguarian side, Prime Minister Solitarius Unenlagia, looking noticeably fatigued and tattered from being on the front lines so long, and getting so little sleep, Altair Ornea, Grand Marshal of the Aguarian Air Force, who would infamously be known among the Seneluxians, for his prolonged Insignis bombing campaigns and downing of the Yukikaze, as the Angel of Death, Ares Ignos, Grand Admiral of the Aguarian Navy, whose mere name mentioned within Senelux's navy in the future would spark fear, chills, and painful memories of enormous Yonamine-class battleships unleashing death upon their own forces, Prometheus Samej, the Vice Prime Minister of Aguaria Major who had ordered the unleashing of Project Neptune on East Senelux, whose name, in Senelux's future, might as well been that of the devil himself, his infamous nickname being, "Neptune's Demon", Mateo Jinonai, the current Commander of the Red Marines of the Phoenix's Breath (he had started out the war as a lieutenant, but so many commanding officers in the Red Marines had been killed that when the 2nd Aguarian Army arrived, he was the highest-ranking member), Indicus Caerulescens, President of Ceruleus, whose military was shared with Aguaria Major, and Adiiv Sho, the developer of the chlorine-triflouride weapons that had saved the Insignis fleet from the Yukikaze and scorched East Senelux with the flames of the fiery-throated hummingbird. On the Seneluxian side, stood Rudolf Luxenberg, General Seth of the Seneluxian Army, General Zhara Druganovsky, having been released from prison in Aguarbanapolis and transported back home upon Senelux's surrender, the Marshal of the Seneluxian Air Force, wearing, on his sleeve, a patch that indicated he was once a top gun Wyvern pilot with the Winged Hussars, and the Commissar Philippe Sandmeier, who members on both sides, in the aftermath, now blame for starting the war to some degree. He was the only member of the Seneluxian delegation who was booed as he walked on stage by the Aguarian side. The Seneluxians didn't bother to protest this, as they knew the enemy had a good reason to hate this man. In fact, the only reason the Aguarians (Unenlagia, specifically, as shall be seen shortly) had left him alive is that in a way, they thought this would be the ultimate revenge; instead of dying at their hands, Sandmeier would now have to live with the fact that he was directly responsible for starting a war that saw millions of his comrades and countrymen slaughtered, and that guilt would be far more agonizing than anything the Aguarian Army could've done to him.

Towards a large podium, Unenlagia and Luxenberg slowly marched, getting ready to sign the surrender document. Unenlagia was surprised at how much smaller Luxenberg looked in person than he had in his taunting video message. The two shook hands, and signed the document. Then, Unenlagia gave a speech to the hall that was wired to his navy, sitting offshore, and to Insignis crewmen that were still in orbit onboard planes that hadn't landed yet, and the orbital refueling stations, as a condition of his nation's victory. Even the men of Project Neptune, 400 miles from Earth's surface got to listen to the speech. Here, it went:

"Men and women of Senelux and Aguaria Major, the first thing I would like to say, to our comrades on the Seneluxian side, is, 'this is what happens when you slaughter our soldiers without our consent in military exercises'. But this is the last hostile thing I have to say to Senelux, as revenge for this action on the part of Aguaria Major has more than been had, and for the fact that the citizens and military of this nation have proven among the toughest and most valiant in the world in the past 7 months. Seneluxians who hear this, you have made your ancestors proud. I have been reading up on your history since our victory, and this has been one of your nation's finest hours, as even though you were defeated, you were outgunned and outnumbered by a large degree. But you held us off, against impossible odds, for far longer than any of my top military analysts predicted. What you have done on this battlefield which we stand on is nothing to be ashamed of; in fact, every single person in this room, or who hears this speech from either of our 2 great nations, should walk away with their heads held high, proud of their accomplishments in this conflict.

I am not, nor is my nation, going to punish Senelux any further, for I'm sure the damage we in Aguaria Major have done to your country over the past months more than counts as punishment for the incident that provoked our wrath in the first place. Say what you will about my leadership of Aguaria Major, or any of its policies, but we are at least humble in victory. This is why no consolations shall be given to Aguaria Major by Senelux, and that in the years to come, Aguaria Major shall be committed to rebuilding your nation, prouder than it has ever been, and why I hope, going forward, that our two nations shall be close allies. My military shall leave your nation at once, my soldiers gone from its soil, my navy shall be gone from its shores, and my air force gone from its skies, and the remains of your military immediately released as POWs, as members of the Aguaria Majorian Diplomacy Office work with your leaders to coordinate the rebuilding of your nation, and Aguarian construction crews raise your cities, and your economy, from the ashes of their defeat. In East Senelux, special action shall be taken to repopulate the area with Seneluxian blood, rebuild the cities that once stood there, and restore the ecosystem that once flourished there before its incineration. Statues and monuments honoring your fallen shall be raised in every new city center, as a tribute to your nation's bravery.

Revenge has been had, so now, my Aguaria Majorian countrymen, let us welcome our newfound comrades with open arms, and offer them solace in their nation's time of crisis!

Viva Aguaria Major, y Viva Senelux! May the Eagle and the Fiery-Throated Hummingbird be forever united as allies!"

Cheers went up from both sides as Unenlagia's speech ended. The Seneluxian delegation was dumbfounded. They couldn't believe what they'd just heard. Every one of the Seneluxian leaders, who now looked on their Aguarian counterparts with confusion, had thought for sure they would be executed at the hands of their previous enemies sometime soon.

Maybe the time ahead wouldn't be as bleak as Luxenberg had imagined it. Maybe communists were not as bad as he thought...

Aftermath of the Senelo-Aguarian War: Grandermont, Senelux

It had been 2 years since the Aguarian victory in the war, and Senelux, having only 24 short months ago, been one big scorched, smoking crater, was now looking like a proper nation again. Tower cranes lined the sky of every city as they were rebuilt with Aguarian manpower.

Rudolf Luxenberg strolled down the streets of Grandermont, taking in the details of his city. It would never be how he remembered it, but things were looking up. The war was still fresh in his mind, and this harmony was a welcome change. At this rate, his nation's economy would be up and kicking again in no time at all.

But the weirdest thing was that he now had a sort of battle-forged friendship with his once sworn enemy, who, during the war, had once threatened to rip out his internal organs. The coordination between the 2 once-warring nations had to rebuild Senelux had forced them to cooperate, and Solitarius Unenlagia had proven to be a valuable ally, and a gracious man. He was loud and brash, but he had a good heart and a strict moral code that Luxenberg respected (this, afterall, was what had prevented the Aguarians, as had been disclosed in the months since the war, from personally slaughtering him, his generals, and basically the entire rest of the Seneluxian army; Unenlagia had told him that after the surrender, his leaders, Ignos, Ornea, Jinonai, Samej, and Sho were out for even more blood, and actually wanted to take possession of Senelux as a colony...), and had a knowledge of war history that rivaled even his own. This, as it turned out, was what had gave the Prime Minister his idea for the charge of the 2nd Aguarian Army through the East of his nation.

The Aguarian workers who were rebuilding the once-fallen nation were friendly and compassionate, which is not what many in Senelux believed them to be like after the obliteration of their nation at their hands; in fact, many citizens personally believed, during the war, that the Aguarian Military was no mere mortal force, but one from Hell sent to punish them for their sins while the rest of the world was being raptured, due to the rampage of blind destruction that their military, and their Air Force, in particular, had unleashed upon their nation and its assets (Altair Ornea, Grand Marshal of the Aguarian Air Force, is still, to this day, called the Angel of Death in the Seneluxian vernacular for this reason). This was a pleasant surprise. The Aguarians were not demons, but people who felt a great pride for their nation, and acted on this when they believed it was insulted, just like the Seneluxians.

This was the beginning of a beautiful national friendship. Some in Aguaria Major even hoped that Senelux would become a democracy, like their nation, in the coming years.

Senelux would rise again.
