Why I Want to Quit NationStates

As I near the last and final turn in this journey, I guess I should draw out a map for those interested in why I am quitting now. Now as in within a matter of weeks, possibly days.

I have been playing this beloved child-drama since 2014, at the tail-end of my Middle School "Career" as these American teachers put it. But I quit that summer, because the game was just pointless to me. It wasn't until my freshman year of High School (those horrific days) when I finally rejoined the site. To this day I do not remember if I was founded in The North Pacific, or the South, West etc. So none of those regions can claim the birthrights to my excessive fortune as my "Nick Colby" Fans would put it. I marched my way into the Empire, joining some massive Star Wars region or something. I cannot remember what it was called, something along the lines of "The New Galactic Order" or something like that. Actually, maybe it was "The New Galactic Empire"? But I didn't stay there for so long, as a joined a region of my brief high school "friends" in a region known as Johorne, a region that has redounded itself many times and I am unsure if they are even the same people anymore (they were mostly upper-classmen then, so they probably all got jobs and left the site - much like me now). But, after a few weeks there, that's when I founded the greatest Role Play region in NationStates, POLATION.

POLATION was founded in October of 2014, the exact date is in the WFE and I don't feel like checking it as I write this, so consider that a scavenger hunt or something. It started with just three people, two of my personal friends and myself. Those two friends long since retired from the site, so I cannot exactly tag them. Hantolia and Mayhole were perhaps the first breath breathed into Polation, just before we started Role Playing. Other friends of mine, like Sith Era, joined the party soon after.

But I will say without a doubt that the two most influential members to join (besides myself) were Yu Krane and Naikolie, Naik being the only current active player of the "original twelve" today.

The Original Twelve

When I say the Original Twelve, I mean the original group of nations that made up Polation's role play when it finally started getting good. When the evils of Black Obsidian rippled across the globe, when the United Northern Oil Territories became the oil superpower of the world, and when Bill Billson was elected President of Polation. Back when things were interesting, back when they were original. When the terrorist Puppet Master first appeared, when the Potato Sack Terrorists first started their horrific bombings. Hell, back when Nikolai Palk first made his name known after he was assassinated by his second in command, Jack Jonsin.

That History I was talking about

I can go on and on about these stories, and they are quite long, however, its already written. POLATION's RMB is full of this ripe history, even the giggles of myself and others in our Freshmen years. The stories about the original twelve will last forever if I told them. I'd tell you about Isaac Cartwright, BigCorp and the Conglomerate Authority, that would soon be ousted for the Trump Organization, but then, that moved past the "Golden Era of POLATION, and entered the era that is more modern as we see it and breathe it now. The Golden Age didn't have any of the nations that stand before us today (besides Naik and myself). It was riddled with Hyrda, with Leo Turbin and the likes of horrific villains you'd only see in your nightmares.

The End of TGA

POLATION's Golden Age, if I deem it correctly, began to fade into what I'd call the "Modern Age" after nations like Sarenium, Vaquas (and his buddies), Akarov and Vyrmshire showed up. Shortly after that, Yu Krane and True Socialist Britain (friends I've never met in person) cte and faded away. Their history and friendship never forgotten. The Golden Age ended when Black Obsidian became an "old topic", same with the Puppet Master, as both characters became "overused" and "watered down". Even Nikolia Palk, the Savior of the World who created the mightiest military force in the universe, became old news. I dragged that character for a long time. His friendship with Jack Jonsin and his father, Barnabas Elbourn (Prime Minister of TSB) was forgotten after the Golden Age. He's more known for being homosexual, and marrying Fredrick Carlisle (a narc from Vaquas) and adopting two children. That marriage ended, and Palk found another man to play with. Really, that's all Palk is known for now. No one remembers when he took down the likes of Black Obsidian, when he made the greatest peace agreement with the help of Bill Billson, or when he struck a deal with BigCorp, and CEO Isaac Cartwright. But Palk had some fun times, like the one RP Event we did when Cyrodiiill nuked the polls, and Palk ended up battling Emperor Septim in an epic sword battle! To keep respect for both characters, they both perished in horrible deaths.

sOMETHING aBOUT fRIENDS

My friendship with Sarenium never seemed to be something I'd brag about. I never understood why we bickered with each other on things, or never really related to each other. Perhaps its because we are so much the same? Sare never really got close to me, like Akarov did, or like with Yu Krane and Theodoric Isles. Sare has always just been another member of the region to me, and I feel guilty honestly.

Vaquas and I, well, I don't know. We had a sparkling friendship, but when I was finally caught for wielding the puppet nation Trumpt (a nation that I used to manipulate the Role Play in major standards, wrecking Sare's PIC idea, Vaq's new government idea, and even manipulating and committing voter fraud to elect myself [Trumpt] into power). Our relationship, both in RP and out, hasn't been the same since. I blame myself, no one else.

I know I'm not going to talk about everyone I barely talked too, or people that I really liked in other regions, or all of my "Nick Colby" fans that linger in the darkness out there, but you know who you are. You know how much of a great time you've made this game for me in my life. I'll get scolded for not mentioning you, but I apologize.

WUTO and ORCA

Perhaps you didn't know, or perhaps you did (stalkers!), but I was the President of two major and successful (laughs my _ss off for a second) Defender Organizations. Leading both those organizations has told me one thing: who gives a crap? I ended both those organizations, because really defending, raiding, its all a pointless game. I'm not neutral. I just don't care. Its stupid, and it doesn't mean anything to me, or really anyone with a right mind. Playing this game for this long, leading those organizations, heck, it shows you where your priorities should stand. And it shouldn't be in that bullcrap.

Marks Journeys

It would be a sin not to mention Mark, or his journeys. Mark was a part of the biggest, longest, and most successful polling series in NationStates to date. The only shame in it all? I cancelled it before episode two of Season Two. I just never got around to restarting it, so like all those great Netflix shows, it got cancelled.

I think in one poll alone we had over 300 people that voted. Don't quote me on that. I started tagging all those that voted, and I still remember the whining children that kept saying they never voted. Heck, I would have never known their nation existed if I didn't. NationStates is one hell of a simulation, and people need to finally wake up and realize they voted in a poll. I have proof, lmfao.

Nick Colby

Some ask, some don't. Who is Nick Colby? Who knows. I make films, and I am very good at it. One day, when I was sharing some of them, Nick Colby was created. I don't know if it was ever a joke, or if some people were really serious, but soon Nick Colby was the greatest actor ever to exist. His stories ripple in regions across NationStates. From those that speak of him from Darkness My Old Friend: Harlem's Ghost to Rebecca Store My Shoe, I swear these kids have more creativity than me. I have no idea why this thing kicked off, or how the hell they continued to make it so funny. But I am grateful to them. They are amazing people, and really made something special that I will look back on (if I ever look back).

[box]Polation's Future

Many people are wondering who will be leading [region]POLATION[/region] after I leave, and what will become of the region, well, the answer is

Why I am Actually Retiring

The answer is simple. I'm tired. People on this game have put me down, time and time again, and I am actually finished with all the stress this game actually plays on my life. Managing Polation of all things is horrible. Out of all the ups that went to the heavens, there are deep and disappointing downs. You know who you are, when it comes down to making my life miserable, and well, frankly I'm finished.

I always promised I was going to retire in 2018 though. I knew since 2016. I graduated this year, and its time to move onto bigger and better things. Give me more time to film, more time to study, more time to actually get out there and make some money. So I can't say my "mistery" is why I am retiring. I'm just moving on.

Now, I was planning on actually staying in the game until very, very, very recently.
