Cacelian Army

The Cacelian Army includes significant numbers of light infantry complimented by armored heavy troops. Mercenaries, archers, stone and javelin throwers also comprise the army, but on a much smaller scale. The Cacelian Army also consists of cavalry but the cost of horses makes it far more expensive than heavy infantry armor, limiting cavalrymen to nobles and the very wealthy. Cacelian cavalry plays very limited roles in combat, and is often used for scouting, harassment, flanking and pursuit. Each city in Cacelia is responsible for raising their own troops, which forms the city's own regiment. Major cities like Cael and Ocysean have multiple regiments of troops. Each regiment is commanded by a general from the regiment's home city. In peacetime only a fraction of these troops are mobilized, and those too are responsible for keeping law and order.

In wartime the King has the authority to raise all regiments of the Cacelian Army under his command. Concerns have been raised about Cacelia's ability to mobilize its entire army efficiently during wartime. During the Cacelian-Wyveth War, Wyven troops conquered more than half of Cacelia's territory before Cacelia could mobilize a sizable defense force.
