Vlad's Execution

"Mr. President, it's time," Agent Zero said as he cracked open the Executive Office door.

Without a word, President Steele stood and followed the head of his security detail, followed by two additional agents.

They led him outside to his motorcade, then took their positions in their assigned vehicles.

The motorcade proceeded along its route without much fanfare. Some citizens stopped and looked, only a few waved.

When the motorcade arrived at Liberty City Penitentiary, the agents quickly led the president inside, down several corridors, then into a sterile white room.

In the center of the room was another small room, a window allowing those outside to see the gurney and restraints on the inside.

President Steele ran his hand over the glass.

"So this is where it all ends. The final death of our civil war. And who's responsible for it?"

The agents remained stone faced, not responding to the president's rhetorical question. One can only assume that Agent Zero was also stone faced under his familiar black mask.

Moments later, prison officers led former president tuned dictator Vlad Drakos into the room. They strapped him to the gurney and then the senior officer spoke up.

"Mr. President," he asked from inside the execution chamber, his voice audible through a speaker. "Do you wish to proceed with the execution of Vlad Drakos for the crime of treason?"

Predident Steele sighed heavily, then looked the officer in the eyes. "I do. I hereby order Vlad Drakos executed for the crime of treason."

"Mr. Drakos," the officer said, addressing the prisoner. "If there is anything you wish to say, this is your time to do so."

"Jayson," Drakos said, using the president's first name. "You led a valiant rebellion. You surmounted the insurmountable odds. But do not allow yourself to feel invincible or infallible. In the end, you're a greedy, power hungry, selfish man...just like me."

Drakos forced a smile. The officers connected an IV to his arm. They each pressed a button on opposite walls. Within 30 seconds, the dictator was dead.

"Into your hands I commend this man," the president said looking toward the ceiling. "Judge him according to your will."

The agents led President Steele out.
