The New Generation Multipurpose Stealth Aircraft or Project Scettro is a project put by the Italian Ministry of Defense (DIFENSA) to create a multirole stealth fighter aircraft capable of handling operations in all terrains and weathers, including up into the stratosphere. The aircraft is projected to further augment the Air Force's fighting capability by creating a hypersonic stealth fighter that could be used for all military operations, including SEAD (Wild Weasel), close fire support, fighting, intercepting, and bombing.

Development

The Italian Air Force is one of the largest and most advanced in the world, with its large fleet of fifth-generation F-35 Lighting II stealth multirole aircrafts as the spearhead, only second to the New English Commune. However, this type of aircraft still does not satisfy the needs of an advanced stealth multirole fighter that is needed by the Italian Air Force. The Government's consortium of several aerospace companies, including Leonardo S.p.A, Elbit Systems, the Israeli Aerospace Industries, and the Turkish TAI (under a new corporation named Enigmavia) is contracted to develop a new type of sixth-generation stealth multirole fighter aircraft.

Initial development of the project began in 1999. Elements of the new UAV being developed by Agusta is incorporated to the new aircraft. It also features an Artificial Intelligence guidance system that will use deep learning as a way to improve the capabilities. Its sensors and command tabs will allow UAV swarms to launch from its back, further increasing its stealth and offensive capabilities. Another feature of the aircraft is directed energy weapons, which is used for fighting and skrimish operations that would damage the enemy aircraft by utilizing electrolasers. There will also be an integrated Cooperative Engagement system to cooperate in the battlefield.
