Treaty of Jordanes

We, the governments of The Empire of Mare Nostrum and Das Kaiserreiches von Hartfelden, hereafter referred to as the Participatory Region(s), recognize our shared position, values, and goals, and therefore adopt this Treaty of Jordanes, in order to solidify these ties and aspire to make said ties stronger.

I. Mutual Recognition

  1. The Empire of Mare Nostrum hereby recognizes the current government of Das Kaiserreiches von Hartfelden, under the authority of His Imperial and Royal Majesty Friedrich I, Kaiser of Hartfelden, King of Tannborn and Kronenberg, Duke of Ansrau, Helmfurt, and Fürstenzell, Margrave of Osterhausen and Delmenfingen, and Lord of Hügelstatt, and any other legal governments that may succede the current government as the legal government of Das Kaiserreiches von Hartfelden and as the party with which this treaty is made.

  2. Das Kaiserreiches von Hartfelden,hereby recognizes the current government of The Empire of Mare Nostrum, under the authority of Emperor Rex Ciphra Pertinax Augustus, and any other legal governments that may succede the current government as the legal government of The Empire of Mare Nostrum and as the party with which this treaty is made.

  3. The home region of The Empire of Mare Nostrum shall be considered to be the NationStates region of the same name.

  4. The home region of Das Kaiserreiches von Hartfelden shall be considered to be the NationStates region of the name Hartfelden.

  5. The Participatory Regions agree to the recognition of any territory under the authority of the other region as sovereign territory that shall be covered by the provisions of this treaty.

  6. The Participatory Regions agree to the exchange and maintenance of embassies on NationStates itself.

  7. The Participatory Regions agree to the exchange and maintenance of embassies on the official off-site property of the other region.

II. Non-Aggression
  1. The Participatory Regions agree to refrain from engaging in military hostilities against the other region or their sovereign territory.

  2. The Participatory Regions will not support entities which attempt the overthrow of the legal government of the other region.

  3. The Participatory Regions will not engage in espionage against the other region.

  4. The Participatory Regions shall endeavour to share any pertinent information relating to the other region with the other region.

  5. If the home region of either Participatory Region were to come under attack, the other region shall deploy as soon as feasible in order to assist in defense.

III. Cooperation
  1. The Participatory Regions acknowledge the military of the other region as being covered by the provisions of this treaty and as a sovereign entity.

  2. The Participatory Regions recognize the right of the military of the other region to use their force however they deem fit.

  3. The militaries of the Participatory Regions shall endeavour to cooperate on missions whenever it is possible.

  4. The militaries of the Participatory Regions shall cooperate in training missions and other non-essential operations where possible.

  5. Neither military will be required to participate in any operation conducted by the military of the region except for those operations demanded by the provisions of this treaty.

  6. The Participatory Regions shall allow and aid the promotion of the other region’s cultural events, within reason.

  7. The Participatory Regions shall endeavour to host joint cultural events when applicable and possible.

IV. Ratification and Dissolution
  1. This treaty will take effect once it has been ratified within the proper methods as determined by the laws of The Empire of Mare Nostrum and Das Kaiserreiches von Hartfelden, as well as signed by the Emperor of The Empire of Mare Nostrum, the Kaiser of Das Kaiserreiches von Hartfelden,and any other required officials.

  2. Either Participatory Region may terminate this treaty with a seventy-two (72) hour prior notice delivered to the other participatory region.

V. Mode of Amendment
  1. Should either signatory wish to amend this treaty, they shall be required to obtain the consent of the other signatory, providing that such edit not be made to the definition of the home region of the editing signatory.
