Riot at Fyyrig Prison brilliantly quelled by security forces

The government has allowed press to go in with the riot police though they are forbidden to wear recorders of any kind. Keran Furia, who’s been at the scene through the three days of standoff between security forces and the prisoners of Fyyrig maximum Security Prison, geared up to go in. He had this to say:

‘Right, so it looks like I’m going with a of riot police team. Yes, on goes the stab proof vest, the greaves, knee pads, rerebraces, vambraces gauntlets, gorget and helmet. Monarchs, these prisoners won’t be getting anywhere with this armour. Oh, yep, shield. A nice polycarbonate rectangle covers the bearer from head to below the knees. The extendable baton, thick plastic with small metal knobs on it that makes a beautiful iconic clacking sound when it’s extended. Right, I think we’re ready to go in. Oh, a gas mask. Right. Yep, they’re asking me to zip it now.’

Thanks to Keran, The Snudgeskooge’s Herald has been able to get an insight into the prison breach. First, CS gas was pumped into the cell blocks ventilation system. Urban Disturbances Special Forces blew holes in the roof and back walls, letting Domestic Influence riot police through flashbang grenades to further disorientate prisoners before flooding into the prison blocks, subduing the prisoners with batons and riot shields. The hostages were secured by Special Forces teams who rushed into the centre of the cell blocks, securing the hostages and pulling them out. Phase one was complete.

Phase Two was a go. Once all the hostages were safely out of the prison blocks. Once confirmed, the government gave the order to use lethal force where necessary. The prison filled with cracking and snapping sounds followed quickly by screams and shouts. Within minutes, the breaking sounds stopped and riot police were called out. Special Forces were waiting at the command post. Corporal Gerir Odinak gave this report. ‘We went in, passing all the prisoners who were fighting the riot police. It wasn’t really a fight though. The police had the situation well under control. The CS gas worked wonders and I have to praise the riot police teams for making the extraction so smooth. We really just walked in, secured the hostage in B Block and walked out again. I only needed to hit a few prisoners out of the way. They only cared for themselves and getting out of the gas. Magnificently done.’

Keran had this to say about the police:

'They did an amazing job. They swarmed in, batons clacking and quickly swinging. To be honest, there wasn't much to do after the CS gas incapacitated the rioters. More heard them into cells and quarantine them. A few bones were broke nbut that's par for the course. They really did a smashing job! I didn't have to do much, just follow my team and look meancing, which wasn't very hard given the gear.'

Medical staff from the local hospital were called to the scene of the riot and many prisoners have been taken out on stretchers. Those not requiring medical treatment are being loaded into police vans for relocation to other prisons thoguh this is probably temporary given the new crimes they've committed. The government has praised all the security forces for their swift quelling of the riot and warns any other prisoners not to follow suit. More legislation will likely be drafted because of the incident.
