Reizen Declaration of Independence

The Reizen Independence Movement has formally declared independence from the Frost Empire. A copy of the Declaration has been delivered to the Oured Times and the Treasure Island Report:

An Austral translation:

Whereas, the solemn covenant made with the people of Reizen, and recorded in the Delphinium Archives of the Imperial Federation of Frost as the 98th chapter of the Act passed in the 2nd year of the Mirai era as been continually violated by the Frost government, and our rights usurped. Our humble petitions, addresses, protests, and remonstrances against this injurious and unconstitutional interference have been made in vain. Therefore, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and assume the powers of the heaven, that which entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all humans are created equal, and are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, among them the pursuit of life, liberty, equality, and happiness. That to secure these rights governments are instituted and derive their powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government strays from the people and becomes destructive, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it and implement a new government, laying the foundation on these principles and organizing its powers to efficiently preserve the safety and happiness of the people. Prudence, dictates that governments long established should not be changed for light and frivolous causes; and accordingly, all experience has show that humanity is more inclined to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. We, the Representatives of the Republic of Reizen, in General Parliament, Assembled, declare, that this free and united Province absolve all allegiance to the Frost Empire, and that the political connection between that Tyrant and Reizen is now dissolved. That as a free and independent Republic has full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States have the to right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
