Getting Started

Welcome to the Dimensional Rift. Here's what you need to do to get started!
Please Note: You will be expected to complete the following before you participate in RMB roleplay. Send a Telegram to any officer if you have any questions.

Step 1: Rules & Realms
Familiarize yourself with the following dispatches:
• Region Rules — Short list of RMB and Roleplay Rules. Pay special attention to the "Your Realm, Your Rules" item.
• What is the Rift? — An OOC and IC overview of the unifying theme for this Region.

Step 2: Define Your Nation
The Overview page of your Nation is not enough if you are to invite others into your realm—you will need to publish Factbooks that will allow other Players to understand and picture how your Nation looks and operates. Refer to other Member Nations for examples. Note that this information does not necessarily pertain to your Realm (that comes later).
Recommended topics to address in Factbook(s) include:
• People: What are the locals like? Are they all human? How do they appear? Do they have racial variations? Social hierarchies?
• Setting: What type of environments are found in your Nation? What do cities look like? Does your Nation occupy one country, or an entire star system?
• Technology: Through what means do your people interact with their setting? Do they use futuristic or science-fantasty devices? Is technology instead replaced by magic and talismans? What are considered weapons? How do people travel?

Step 3: Choose Your Cluster
In the Rift, Realms of similar nature often form "clusters" due to their common parallelisms, though it should be noted that these distances are merely observational and by no means limiting. In other words, a "cluster" is the general time period or genre of your Realm, and choosing one simply helps other Players of the Region to identify your overall setting.
Refer to the following list to identify your Cluster. If you are unsure or feel that your Realm falls into more than one of these categories, contact an officer or ask others in RMB for assistance. Note that "magic" can be present in any of these categories and is not strictly limited to Past-Tech.
• PT: Past-Tech (ancient through late middle ages, low-tech; The Elder Scrolls, LotR, D&D, etc.)
• MD: Modern-Tech (16th-early 21st century, contemporary tech; Steampunk, Post-Apocalypse, most Superhero franchises, etc. likely fit here)
• FT: Future-Tech (spacefaring civilizations, advanced technology such as FTL travel; Star Wars, Warhammer 40k, Mass Effect, etc.)
• MG: Magi-Tech (technology that functions through magical means; Final Fantasy, Eberron, Fairy Tail, RWBY, etc.)
• SR: Surreal (generally whatever can't fit in the above categories; logic-defying, Lovecraftian, implausible realities)
You will use the two-letter code in bold associated with your Cluster in the next step.

Step 4: Shape Your Realm
With your Factbooks and Cluster in mind, it's time now to define the Realm in which your Nation exists. Even if your Nation is the extent of and encompasses all aspects of your Realm, this step includes essential additional details that you will need to address in a separate, dedicated Factbook. In summary, it is your Nation's connection to the Rift and thereby the other Realms.
In a dedicated and marked Factbook, please specify the following components:
• Realm Designation: Combine the two-letter cluster code from the previous step with any two-digit number of your choosing.
• Connection: By what means is your Realm connected to the Rift and other Realms? How would someone from your Realm travel to another? Through magic? Technology? Anomaly?
• Awareness: How widespread is the knowledge of the Rift to people of your Nation? Is it limited to the government or a small group of people? Is it as familiar as air travel? How would someone of your realm react to a "visitor" from another realm?
• Restrictions: What limits are imposed on travellers from other Realms? Does technology or artificial material from other Realms manifest in your Realm? Do any magical or supernatural abilities of travellers cease to function? How many travellers can one Realm send?
• Hazards: What are some general dangers that travellers should be mindful of while in your Realm? Treacherous landscapes, hostile creatures, xenophobic locals, or anything else that threatens the life and liberty of a visitor should be listed.
• Availability: An OOC component, declaring whether your Realm is Open for other Players to send travellers to freely, requires Permission or Invitation from you, or if it's currently closed.
If you are joining a pre-established Realm: Please create a Factbook that discloses AND LINKS TO the pre-established Realm you are entering. Of course, you will need permission from the Realm's original creator to do so, and are subject to whatever changes the Realm's creator makes. It is possible to form a "tangent" Realm later if you decide to leave that Realm--ask an officer for details.

Step 5: Get Roleplaying!
Now that you're all set-up, it's time for you to leap into the Roleplay and explore the Rift! Keep in mind most Players prefer that you ask before you interact with them or their Realms.
The best means of interaction is through Characters. Perhaps someone from your Realm is chosen by the government to explore the "other side" as an agent, or maybe someone was "chosen" by the Rift and was sucked through a portal against their will!
For the sake of reference and clarity, it is highly recommended that you create a Factbook for any Character, Agency, or another identity that will travel outside your Realm.

Thank you for reading through and complying with this guide! Again, any questions can be sent as a Telegram to an officer, or ask the beautiful people of this region in the Discord. Happy Exploring
