MIDAIA, ACT II: PARABELLUM - PART FOUR
January 24th, 2050
12:50 PM

Downtown Midandia

"We want freedom!"
"We want peace!"
"We want no
Order!"
This chant continued throughout the day.
Lucy Freeman was in the middle of a massive protest on Midandia Avenue, protesting outside the Midandia Tower, where many of Axel Vodden's companions had gathered in a meeting in the tower's penthouse. A sea of people had gathered in the main plaza outside the formidable tower, each with the same resolve: Ending the Midaic Order's tyranny and restoring peace and freedom to Midand.
She was proud of how she managed to rouse the crowd to come to this and even prouder of the fact that millions had taken to the streets all across Midand. She had seen news of Midandians on South Midandia Island rising up as well, and the protests there had since escalated into calls for independence unless the Order began reformations. They were all united by one goal, and by that goal, they would stay united.
"Keep going!" she chanted to a group of protesters.
She held up her sign - words mocking the Order - proudly, chanting with the crowd.
This particular protest had been going on for three days now. The riot police had tried to disperse and control the crowd, but that all that did was make it grow bigger. They had since backed down and simply set up barriers in defensive positions, and they hadn't made a move since. There were rumours of the riot police beginning to use deadly force on the group outside the Capitalon, and that very thought made her sick to her stomach.
She was visiting that protest next to give them support, she had resolved.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud screech, feedback from a megaphone.
She stood up on her toes and tried to see where the sound came from.
It was a new squadron of riot police.
And they had rifles.
Real rifles.
"What the actual hell?" a protester exclaimed. "Have Piles and Nomerse really lost it?"
"Get to safety", Lucy told him. "This won't resolve peacefully."
"No", the protester said with conviction. "I'm staying. Like you said, no matter the cost."
Lucy looked at him solemnly and nodded. "We need to act fast."
A voice then came out of the megaphone.
The voice of Sergeant Harry Nomerse.
"By the orders of the Midandia Police Department, disperse immediately. Final warning. I will not tell you again. We will not hesitate to use deadly force if need be. I believe the original protest outside the Capitalon can agree with that."
"We have been entirely peaceful so far!"
"Yeah, you're the ones coming in with rifles!"
Lucy would have chuckled, but she was truly worried about the protesters' safety. Piles really was authorizing deadly force for real. And what about the protesters outside the Capitalon? What happened to them?
She shuddered to think.
"We need to get protesters into a safer location, and fast", Lucy said. "Ones that want to stay and face it, well..."
"No matter the cost?" the protester said.
"Very well. No matter the cost."
Messengers were quickly dispatched to warn the crowd, and they disappeared into the sea of people.
Lucy turned back to view the riot police who had arrived, noticing how big their rifles were.
It was like staring into death itself.

THE DILEMNA
January 24th, 2050
7:30 PM

Presidential Penthouse, Midandia Tower

"Welcome, Minister. I inquire how you got in to the Tower in the midst of these rioters."
"It was quite...interesting, to say the least. We had to use the service entrance."
"I see. These riots are getting out of hand."
"Freeman did say 'no matter the cost.' Quite a few of them are taking that quite to heart."
"Fools. Acceptance is the last stage of grief. Sooner or later, they will realize, one way or another."
"...so what did you bring me in here today for, Chairman?"
"Ah yes, let me get right on to that. You see, Minister, we have a...dilemma."
"Is it United Europe-Eurasia again?"
"Indeed. There is quite a dilemma at the moment surrounding our...complicated relationship."
"As has been for the past few months."
"Quite. But, with the Open Roads initiative, things are different now. Our economic state is ripe and fruitful for other nations. Nations like Volaworand and North prarie are eating out of the palm of our hand. Whether unaware or ignorant of the events transpiring in our nation, we are in an optimal position. But our foreign influence over Eurasia is...weakening."
"Stubborn, aren't they?"
"But their stubbornness will be the end of them. We will discuss this later, Geldon. You are dismissed. You may join the rest of your colleagues in the conference hall."
"Very well, then."
"By the way, if you see Minister Duncan, can you tell him I would like to speak with him?"
"Yes, Chairman."

"Chairman?"
"Yes, Minister, please come in. Apologies for interrupting your duties."
"Oh, it's fine, Chairman. What is it you want to talk to me about?"
"As I have told Geldon earlier, our foreign influence over Eurasia is weakening. Strings have been pulled around the world, but Eurasia's string is stubbornly secure."
"An understatement if there ever was one."
"I quite agree, Minister. You have heard about the situation in East Sakhlin, correct?"
"Yes. General Tavor is already there making a voluntary tour of the nation. It's a neat little publicity stunt. You should've watched the broadcast."
"Should our deal with East Sakhlin succeed, we will have another nation right in our pocket to play with. But...this is where it gets interesting. You are aware of the events that have transpired, no?"
"Yes. The Eurasians are dispatching forces to the nation; I am well aware."
"Eurasia is being very stubborn. I never wanted our situation to escalate to this point, but it seems this is how the world is. You know what to do, right, Minister?"
"I have an idea."
"It's best when the East Sakhlinians send a positive response, we seek permission to land troops and deploy warships. Perhaps we could begin to bring things from the Operation into the field."
"I see what you mean, Chairman. I will contact Tavor at once."
"Very well, Minister. You are dismissed. I will join you and your colleagues shortly for advice on our next course of action."
"Thank you, Chairman."

The Royal Media - Eurasians Take to the Streets After Protests Were Verified to Continue
Over 71 Million Eurasians from around Eurasia are taking to the streets today protesting the visit of General Tavor from Midand to East Sakhlin. The Eurasian Government sent out Protest Verifications allowing the public to protest against the visit of Tavor peacefully. Eurasian Activist Micah Avani from Northern Lights posted on Twitter stating "The Midandians will and shall not be allowed to gain influence over the Northwestern Pacific nations. East Sakhlin will regret all of its decisions on letting Midandian influence take them over." Protests have remained peaceful as the Eurasian Federal Police are scattered around many areas ensuring the safety of civilians. This is The Royal Media reporting LIVE from Terinavilag.

January 25th, 2050
7:40 AM

Providence North Tower, Central Government District, Providence Forge

Michael Rossborough sits back at his desk, amused at watching the LIVE broadcasts all across Eurasia protesting Midandian influence. "Ah yes, we finally have King Morris by our side in this, just what we needed to keep our fight against Midand going."
Minister Rossborough turns on his computer, surprised once again. "Haha, wow. These emails have me cracking up. The Midandians still have no idea that Eurasia and East Sakhlin have historical treaties. Sad. They'll never beat our influence over them-"
Just as he was finishing his sentence, Minister Hopkins bursts into his Office Suite. "Minister Rossborough, apologies for my sudden entrance but the Midandians are requesting that warships be sent to East Sakhlin. The only reason General Tavor is over there in the first place is to butter up the population so he can fight us close range."
Michael Rossborough, still aghast by her sudden entrance sparks back to life and responds. "Well these protests going on in Terinavilag by Friendship Bridge is going to do something, just in the last hour the protest group went from 71 Million to 83 Million, people are going crazy for this opportunity to protest against them."
"The videos of the protests are going viral across many social media platforms, one already has 21 Million likes!"
"And it's only going up, #MidaiaCrisis has been trending #1 on Twitter Worldwide for 3 days straight now."
"As I've seen! This has been insa-"
Ding.
"What was that?"
A loud and clear voice comes over Providence North's PA system. "Attention all Government Officials, King Morris I has officially scheduled a speech that is going to be broadcasted worldwide and have international reach. Attendance for this speech is mandatory for all officials of his cabinet."
Minister Rossborough and Minister Hopkins sit quietly before Hopkins abruptly gets a Twitter notification announcing the speech publicly.

Twitter - Trending Headline - King Morris I schedules worldwide speech with a possible record-breaking attendance of 150 million people, and 10.1 Billion people watching the broadcast in foreign countries.
King Morris I has officially scheduled a speech that could officially break a new world record. Nearly 85 Million Eurasians have already taken to the streets to protest Midandian influence over many foreign alliances such as East Sakhlin and Hanguk-Nippon. King Morris I's speech is expected to be over the Midaia Crisis.

INSURGENCY - CELEBRATION
January 25th, 2050
7:00 PM, 6:00 PM Hokoan ST

Nanhua Street, Sōdaeji District, Ryōmun, Hokoan Province, Hanguk-Nippon

People lined the streets. Men, women, and children from all over participated in the festivities. Tonight was the Lunar New Year. Elaborate dances were performed while gold signs glittered against red backgrounds. In Hokoan, the festivities were especially vibrant as the ethnic diversity of the province saw a slew of traditions from Chinese, Malay, Dayak, and Hanguk-Nipponese cultures. Red lanterns were hung from storefronts, homes, and restaurants.
Satō Okiyang, the Governor of Hokoan, was viewing the festivities from his office and drank from a can of beer.
“One of the many things I love about Hokoan, is that the people are always seemingly happy. You can’t really say that about the rest of the country in general, now can’t you?” laughed Okiyang.
Itsuki Gakyō, the Foreign Secretary of Hanguk-Nippon, folded his arms. “Absolutes never make for the most entertaining stories, don’t you think? At least, shouldn't it be that way?"
"Well, what exactly do you mean by that?"
"They appear happy, don't they?"
"Certainly."
"That's seemingly so, but I can't say that such sweeping statements hold true. They never do," spoke Gakyō. He nodded sagely and skimmed Okiyang's selection of books. Most of them were historical analects and files, but one caught his eye. A cobalt blue book with a gold engraving on the spine: The Hanguk-Nipponese 2050 Diplomatic Bluebook made by none other than Itsuki. Only two copies were known to exist, one in Gakyō's safe at Tottori, and the other went missing when Hyoejin was captured by the Pacifists. Each one contained every foreign policy initiative partaken by the Hanguk-Nipponese Government, and an official analysis of the relations between the state and other countries.
He moved past the book and walked away from the shelf over to the other side of the office. "Okiyang, do you believe that we will win this... conflict of our nation's?"
"Of course we will."
"That's what I thought you would say, and I'm glad that you said it. The state of affairs is certainly well right now, don't you know?"
"Yes."
"Perhaps you would understand the implications of a state victory?"
"... I do, yes, Itsuki."
"Because we both understand, none of those traitors would get away with what crimes they've committed..."
"Most definitely."
Gakyō glanced at Okiyang, who sat calmly at his desk. "So, Satō. What plans do you have, once this mess is over and done with?"
"I think I'll be spending most of my time normally, yes. Focusing on my work."
"Wonderful. How would you like me to treat you-"
Okiyang shot up and held his hand out with a riled expression on his face. "No, no! I'll pay for the expenses. You wanted to enjoy new year's in Hokoan?"
"Yes, I certainly do." Gakyō nodded.
They made their way to the street. Okiyang and Gakyō weren't the closest of acquaintances, but Okiyang offered Gakyō a list of world-class book stores in Ryōmun nevertheless. He at least knew of Itsuki's amiability towards books of all kinds. They decided to explore the city a bit first, however. Gakyō couldn't let his trip go to waste even if it wasn't in the mindset of tourism. Most of their time was spent quietly moving throughout town, trying samples and donating to the needed sectors. Publicity was important, but not as important as one would think that night. The residents of the city were too busy to notice them anyways. At 8:50 PM HNST (7:50 PM Hokoan Standard Time), the two made their way to the most highly prized book store in Ryōmun: Baida-Dojinshu (百达-道진しゅ). Okiyang wasn't a big fan of the whole concept of reading. He did it when he must. Gakyō on the other hand, found the pastime to be thoroughly entertaining. Though even in his musings with the bountiful shelves, he still couldn’t get his mind off of the Bluebook in his office.
Hopefully, he would be able to soon.

THE TOGAMI TIMES - ADVANCES MADE IN KITAIHAE

Written by Seojiro Tōyagi
Kitaihae Liberated | War to End Soon

The 45th Infantry Division stationed outside of Kitaihae guards the city outskirts.
Hanguk-Nipponese forces have made a breakthrough in the northeast front as Imperial Army soldiers march into and past Kitaihae (北이헤). The city had been recently captured by Pacifist forces, now lies once again in the hands of the government. Exiled officials are slowly being returned to their posts, though normal incoming and outgoing transport will not occur anytime soon. Residents are reportedly "relieved" that they've been liberated, and have welcomed back the state troops with open arms. Testimonies claim that "much more horrid things" happen further in the Pacifist-controlled territory. "Many are glad that they were only occupied for such a short time. The situation may have devolved into something unimaginable if we had not acted as soon as we did," stated Nijiko Chōjang, Mayor of Kitaihae, at an official speech held in Ssangryō.
The Imperial Navy increases pressure on captured ports with routine patrols.
Citizens living near the warzone have witnessed an immense unignorable buildup of forces along all front lines. The Speaker of the Imperial Diet has claimed "on behalf of the Emperor, His Majesty Emperor Sesato, the War on Pacifist Aggression has begun to to turn to our favor. The Emperor urges all citizens to support their defenders in anyway they can. Peace can be achieved at last, and the order shall prevail for the better. Business shall once again resume as usual within our nation. Let us continue to pursue national unification and pacification on our goals of prosperity and internationally-renowned success". A matter of domestic policy change has also been discussed within the Imperial Diet's halls. Notions of Pro-Sinjōist and Anti-Pacifist reform have been stirring ever since the New Year's Speech. The question of how the law shall be implemented is still undetermined by various sources.

MIDAIA, ACT II: PARABELLUM - PART FIVE
February 3rd, 2050
3:45 AM

Pacifist Camp, Jokkchō Municipality, Hanguk-Nippon

It is cold and dark.
A starless night, with only misty clouds in the sky, obscuring the moon and stars.
In a military camp, soldiers have nothing to do but remain on duty, standing on guard. Their breaths emerge as silky, misty clouds, fading away into the night sky.
A darkly dressed man walks through the camp, surrounded by two bodyguards, armed with assault rifles. He approaches the camp's central tent and talks with the two soldiers standing guard outside.

"Hold it right there", one of the soldiers says. "This is a restricted area. What is your business?"
The soldiers have a firm grip on their weapons.
The man speaks, his voice silky smooth and calm.
"I am the Midandian specialist on official business. Pacifist Generals Dong Minshō and Toroya Daematsu can vouch for me if you will let us inside."
The soldiers look at each other and mutter amongst themselves. One of them then enters the tent. The man stays still, his expression extraordinarily calm and collected. The soldier then exits the tent. He nods towards the other soldier.
"Very well", the soldier says, motioning for the man to come in. "But leave the guards outside. I do not believe they are very necessary."
The man stands for a moment and nods towards his bodyguards. The guards both nod and dutifully stand by the tent. The soldiers let the man inside the tent. Inside, the man finds two generals huddled by a map, one of many laid out on a desk. The one light source inside is a dim lamp, and most of the tent is shrouded in darkness as a result.
One of the generals looks up and notices their visitor.
"Mister Judas! It's been a very long time."
The man nods. "Yes, General Minshō, the mess at Midaic Intelligence has cleared at last. I have come to check on our partnership. Where are Dokai and Seokita at the moment?"
"Oh, you know how they are, Judas", the general says. "Busy. With the little incident in Kitaihae, we're a little tied up at the moment. Dokai, being the leader of the Pacifists, is extraordinarily occupied at the other camp. I am not sure whether he has the time to speak with you in the future. Same with Seokita. As a strategist, he is quite busy too."
"I see", the man says.
"So why have you come here today?" the other general asks, rolling up the map.
"I have come to...discuss the future of our partnership", the man says.
"What do you mean? Does our deal not persist?" the general asks, a perplexed expression on his face.
"Oh, of course it does!" the man says calmly. "But lately, there have been recent developments."
"Recent developments? Just get to the point, Judas."
"Have you heard of the elections in Buyeo Province?"
The general snorts. "Damn cowards. They think they can control the chaos with this little 'snap election.' But really, Judas, get to the point."
"We may be...suspending our partnership for an indefinite time", the man says. "Please bear with us."
The general's face tenses. "What?! Suspending?"
"Yes. We may call a brief withdraw of our forces from your army for a brief time. I apologize for this inconvenience."
The generals' faces go bright red.
"You listen here, Judas", one of them says, standing up. "You may come to regret this. Not when we're so close. Please. Sit down. We can discuss this."
The man says nothing for a brief time. He then turns around and prepares to leave. "I have to make a call."
He exits the tent, ignoring the generals' angry stares, and nods to his bodyguards still waiting outside. The bodyguards nod back and silently begin taking down the two soldiers outside. They fix silencers to their pistols and enters the tent.
Sometime later, they come back out and drag the two soldiers back inside.
One of the later walks out.
"It is done, Judas."
"Good", the man says. "You know the drill. Stage it as an accident. I also want you to modify troop movements on their charts. To dismantle the Pacifists, we will send their soldiers right to their demise. We will be going after General Takeji Asago next. Pity our partnership ended so quickly..."
The bodyguard nods and re-enters the tent.
The man retrieves a phone and dials a number.

"Is it done?" a voice on the other end asks.
"Yes. The two generals took it quite seriously. Our suspicions are right - it seems they are getting desperate."
"Excellent work, Judas. Asago is next."
"It's a pity the plan with the Pacifists never worked out. We would have saved them a lot of trouble."
"Yes. But the plan with the elections seems to be working better. Contact me when Asago is finished off."
"Very well. Aga:sa'no ma denir Midaia."
"Aga:sa'no ma denir Midaia."

INTENSIFICATION
February 4th, 2050
10:32 AM

The Capitalon, Midandia

- "Good morning, Chairman."
- "Good morning, fellow Ministers. Help yourself to the refreshments on the table."
- "In light of recent events in Hanguk-Nippon, we have received urgent information."
- "Very well, then. Let's hear it, Minister."
- "First on the agenda...the specialist, Mister Judas, has reported success. Pacifist Generals Dong Minshō and Toroya Daematsu have been successfully eliminated."
- "As Delvin has said, some of the most prominent members of the insurgency have been taken care of. I have already begun withdrawing our own men from the nation.
- "After a long time waiting, the boot finally makes one more step in the right direction. I trust Judas is en route to General Asago?"
- "Absolutely. Judas says he expects mission completion within a few days.
- "Excellent news, Director. When can we expect the full dismantling of the Pacifists? The truth of our actions dies with them."
- "Hanguk-Nippon is starting to mop some of them up. Judas has altered their plans to send their men into, let's say...the wrong place at the wrong time. With most of their forces gone, we can expect the Imperial Army to take care of the rest."
- "Thank you, Duncan. I also inquire about our progress with East Sakhlin. Geldon?"
- "They're willing to accept our troops into the area. Sooner or later, the Midaic-Sakhlin Treaty will be signed."
- "Troops are en route as we speak. Their little situation should be resolved in no time."
- "But you do tell me of slight problems inherent with our current plan, no?"
- "Well, erm, yes. It seems United Europe-Eurasia is reacting to the movement of our warships. And this...is where it gets interesting."
- "Interesting? Enlighten me, Duncan."
- "While they have not mobilized troops, their reactions are quite self-explanatory. Should our plan with the Hanguk-Nipponese fail, well...Chairman...this may escalate."
- "A grave thought indeed. Does Tavor know about this?"
- "Yes. He suggests we play it low until they dispatch their own forces."
- "The world descends more into this state day by day. While we may have quashed many of the protests within Midandia, there are many foreign protests against us as well, such as the Friendship Bridge in Eurasia. We may have to rethink some of our actions. While we may have solved things with Hanguk-Nippon for the time being with Jjokjō, and other nations such as Volaworand and North Prarie are being quiet about this issue, Open Roads may meet a tumultous end. The situation intensifes day by day."
- "I understand your appropriate concerns, Geldon. But should Eurasia prove to be the force it says it is...perhaps assertiveness is the right route to go down. But you, Duncan, and Tavor are right. We will discuss this later. Ministers, you are dismissed."
- "Thank you, Chairman."
- "But...Delvin. Stay. The rest of you may leave."

"What is this about, Chairman?"
"I need to talk to you about your performance lately, Director."
"My...performance?"
"I am not entirely impressed with your handling of the crisis with Eurasia."
"Handling?"
"Don't be naïve, Director. Under your leadership, I have heard about a massive breach in Midaic Intelligence's systems, the divulgence of many of our secret files, and the near reveal of the Operation to the Eurasians. To add to that, you tell me that your operatives in Eurasia are being hunted down as we speak. Lois Castillo comes to mind. No wait...she is already detained and being interrogated, isn't she?"
"But Chairman, I-"
"Don't make me question your competence, Director. Prove to me you can handle this situation. If not...well..."
"...Chairman?"
"You are dismissed, Director. It would be preferable you not fail the Midaic Order again."

THE EMPIRE OF UNITED EUROPE-EURASIA (UEE)
February 4th, 2050

United Europe-Eurasia's Crown Council has officially signed an Economic and Diplomatic Bill called "Plan Vonopre" to begin working with the Voloworandian and North Prarie Government. Eurasia and Volaworand has already engaged in much trade in the past and now present, while North Prarie and Eurasia's treaties are scheduled for a renewal. Foreign Diplomat Michael Rossborough is scheduled to be the last signature to the bill initiating the beginning of building trade routes, reducing previous tariffs, and increasing oil production.

Michael Rossborough also stated that he will begin to add the benefits of military protection for both nations if they both agree to strengthen diplomatic ties with Eurasia.

"I know that Midaic police showed up with rifles to a peaceful protest in Midandia."
"Well, that news is a week or so old, President."
"What I do know is that tensions are rising more, day by day."
"Well, yeah, that's true."
"So, then what's the concerning information you were going to give me?"
"Well, uh, minutes ago, members of Parliament, uh, well, some Social Democrats, even, have put foward an Executive Action bill."
"To do what?"
"Well, to, uh, remove us from Midand and Hanguk-Nippon and to, uh-"
"Stop saying uh."
"To override Presidential Privilege."
"Oh my god", Lindon thought to himself.
"Fine. Do it. Remove us. Cancel economic partnerships. Stop selling arms.
Do whatever you can to keep us from a constitutional crisis.

INSURGENCY - COUNTEROFFENSIVE
February 2nd, 2050
4:00 AM

Keiseo Street, Takejo District, Furudan, Ryongwon Province, Hanguk-Nippon

Plan Honjōkaji (本城카じ) was in full swing. Tanks rolled down the streets of Furudan unopposed. The city had been abandoned by Pacifist forces. Imperial Army troops marched down the avenues and roads, rousing up residents of the city who weren't already wide awake. Helicopters patrolled the skies and defected ships surrendered after a severe blockade. The city was now free from Pacifist control, though there was still much to be done. The rebels themselves have yet to be fully put-down, and the state of the most northeasterly cities was still unknown to the government. Nevertheless people were slightly more relieved. The state was winning the war. Soon after the tanks had fully moved out and past the city limits and after the streets were fully patrolled, all remaining armaments in the city and surrounding it were returned to the government. Even though most of all of the weapons abandoned were of Hanguk-Nipponese origin, some had been identified as foreign. Something strange, though many in the highest offices would've guessed it. Midandians were on the front lines in this conflict, fighting against the Sinjōist forces and the rule of Sesato. Note of this spread fairly quickly, and soon the generals were hearing it all.

"It seems that they can't run any longer."
"Is that because they're dead?"
"Some yes, some no."
"I'd heard that something happened to the Pacifist command. Something about their leadership faltering. We haven't been encountering many more Midandians on the front."
"It's not surprising, considering how horribly the situation is heading for those traitors."
Sesato, Gakyō, Akijo, and Saichimo were meeting with the generals. They both listened to their opinions on their newfound discoveries concerning Midandian intervention. Sesato and Gakyō were listening and watching intently as the generals took their turns relaying matters. Akijo was reluctantly mentioning the economic damage that the northeast conflicts had caused. Saichimo sat in a very passive state and did not speak. The conflict was nearly at a close, and all he could think about were its repercussions.
"The Tōdong Mountain Range provides any remaining holdouts with a unique advantage. I strongly suggest that we move onto chasing down the last few in the hills. Then, we put pressure. Plenty of it, as to get as much information as possible," Marshal Genju suggested.
Sesato nodded. "It certainly sounds like a viable option. Any other suggestions?"
"Issue orders to police authorities to tighten watches?"
"Surely. Yes."
"Why not muster together the largest corporations to pursue a foreign-oriented national economic doctrine as well? After the sudden news from North Prarie, the Midandians have appeared to have lost another source of income," Akijo added.
"They can make their own products, but they will be lacking in specific resources such as Hanguk-Nipponese quality steel. The Nanjing Government appears cooperative, so I doubt that they will be receiving much of any foreign metals out of Asia."
Gakyō stood up. "Just because that's the case, doesn't mean that they will be so prudent to look elsewhere. Volaworand is still being held firmly in their grasp. Our diplomats have been trying to reach out to Rothera, but all we've been hearing is static or a letter of decline. I must ask you, where is the merit in finding a solution to a problem that can't solved anytime soon? Our policies of persuasion have not been fruitful thus far, and the growing economic reliance of Volwaorand on Midand is a sign of that. Shouldn't we take it a step further?"
Sesato raised his hand and stood up as well. "You're right, on some degree. They won't have pure refined metals, but they can attempt to use alternatives. Volaworand isn't particularly known for its sound steel industry, however. Noting that, we should begin to pressure their government. Lobbying simply isn't enough. Nevertheless, our plans for ending this conflict are sound. Our issue with Midandian arms is solved thus: we confiscate all weapons and target specific producers and suppliers. Their meddling within our borders shall cease very soon. Gentlemen, thank you for this debriefing."

MANIPULATION
February 6th, 2050
7:40 AM

International Friendship Garden, Downtown Midandia, Midand

"Judas has reached General Asago. He expects the job to be finished by nightfall."
"And the Pacifists?"
"They're running into their own collective demise. Within the week, we should expect Hanguk-Nippon's Imperial Army deal the fatal blow. The Pacifists will soon be no more. The chaos will end soon. With the flurry of uncertainty after their defeat, we can expect Jjokjō to begin swaying public opinion in our favour. He has found quite a lot of respect among quite a few citizens already. It's just a matter of time."
"Thank you for these excellent pieces of information. And what was the bad news you wanted to divulge to me?"
"North Prarie has begun plans to cut ties with us."
"As so I have heard. Elaborate, if you will."
"President Lindon has relented to maintaining ties with us. Open Roads may possibly be done for."
"Do not speak too soon. Volaworand has kept silent on the whole situation, and that is just what we need. Open Roads may have been dealt a consequential blow, but we can still find the means to push on."
"But the problem, Chairman, is we're missing out on many economic opportunities with this recent loss. In addition, our operatives in Hanguk-Nippon have reported they are going to spin the situation to our advantage. We might not be able to hold our historical ally for long."
"Do not be too perturbed just yet. It's a large world out there. Perhaps we can spin this to our advantage."
"Oh? And how so?"
"There are many nations we still hold trade deals with, most notably our recent deal with East Sakhlin. We still maintain relations with nations such as Volaworand and Techganet. We can arrange trade routes and economic corridors and utilize them to our advantage. Do not see this current predicament as too far gone; we are...just getting started."
"Yes, Chairman."
"In the meantime, I want our operatives in North Prarie and Hanguk-Nippon on high alert. Perhaps Director Delvin can still prove his worth."

Midandians residing in Midandia and other large cities have reported being "very afraid" and "uncertain" about their safety due to the threat of riots across the city of Midandia. In a recent development, Transport for Midandia and the Midandian Ministry for Public Safety have announced that the Midandia Metro, a major transportation method for rioters, will be shut down indefinitely to help disperse the riots as "quickly and safely as possible."

In the wake of recent anti-government sentiments that spurred into violent protests, it has only been recently when the Ministry for Public Safety declared the protests to be full-blown riots. The riots have caused much chaos and destruction, with the two largest major riots, outside the Midandian Capitol and the Midandia Tower, causing mass disruption and chaos.

This has included the closure of multiple public services within Midandia, including schools, public spaces, and modes of transportation. Riot police have also been strategically placed around the city to discourage more deadly riots from happening.
"We are concerned for all Midandians' safety", Midandia police chief Terence Piles has said in a press conference regarding the matter. "While disruption is a necessary element in these riots, we urge Midandians to follow the orders of police and remain inside if possible."

Possibly in the wake of the assault on officers in the Midand New Capitol subway station, Transport for Midandia and the Ministry for Public Safety have been in "deep planning" over managing Midandia's transportation in the wake of the riots. In recent developments, Minister for Public Safety Derek Pierce has stated that, "The MASS (Midandia Area Subway System) Transit System of Midandia will be completely closed to the public in the wake of recent developments, in an attempt to keep citizens safe and control the riots."
Transport for Midandia is proceeding to shut down multiple transportation centers and hubs, and urges citizens to "be understanding and patient".

While progress has been made on the riots (by the Capitol), it is unsure of when the "madness" is going to end.

In a recent press conference held by the Midaic Order, Midaic Chair Axel Vodden has made an exciting announcement: a new program to incentivize economic development across the globe and better link Midand to its foreign neighbors. HMODPA and the Trade Corridor Program.

While there have been recent rumours circulating among Midandians for some time now, a recent press conference held by Midaic Chair Axel Vodden has all but confirmed a new international program between Midand and its foreign neighbors, similar to the HMODPA and the Trade Corridor Program.
However, Vodden has promised that the new program would be "decidedly different" and "will better utilize Midand's resources". In this recent conference, Vodden and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dellers Geldon, and Minister of Economic Affairs and Commerce, James Cadden, have jointly announced the new Open Roads initiative.

This new initiative seeks to improve economic and political relations between Midand and its foreign neighbors, upgrading trade and shipping routes, improving transportation connections, and jointly linking different nations' foreign ministries for to invite collaboration. Vodden has stated that the program was built up from the HMODPA and the Trade Corridor Program.

Rollout of the program is expected to begin within the next few months, by which Midandian diplomats will travel across the world and discuss possible terms in how to carry out Open Roads in other nations. Current nations under the Open Roads banner include Volaworand. Vodden hopes to expand the initiative quickly to other nations, including North prarie and Techganet.
