European Union – European Court of Justice, May 2020

The current LinkEuropean Court of Justice was elected on the 8th of May 2020, for a four-month term in office. You can find out more about the institution of the ECoJ in our LinkIntroduction and our LinkConstitution. Its current composition is thus:


Chief Justice - Andreas Ekka, Fremet

Andreas Ekka graduated 1968 from the Universitetet i Nordhavn with an undergraduate degree in Civil Law. In 1971, Ekka graduated from the Rechtswissenschaftliche Fakultät der Universität Trondheim with an emphasis on Constitutional and Civil law, receiving his Royal Bar Certificate in 1972.

Ekka practiced law at his own private practice from 1972 to 1976. From 1976 to 1979, Ekka served on the Blumenfeld Council, prosecuting the war crimes of surviving offenders from the Nicoleizian occupation of Fremet in a special tribunal. Ekka served as Crown Prosecutor in the Rhodenheim District Court from 1979 to 1986. In 1990, Ekka was made a judge, and worked as an associate justice, justice and chief justice on various courts until he was elected Chief Justice of the European Court of Justice in May of 2020.
