Species of Kemonomica

Background

Kemonomica is made up of humans and hybrid-humans. These humans however in the mid 21st century have began to embrace technology. However as the population grew, land had slowly been taken up by people living within the islands of the nation. The Diet decided that to ensure the people's loyalty towards law as well as to clamp down on deviancy. Decided that everyone must be infected with nanomachines. Some of the people's bodies were able to accept these nanomachines without complication, of course the government had to fund this initiative to get everyone injected, Yakuza and other crime syndicates fled only to reappear when this assimilation process had been finished, however if caught by the National Public Safety Commission, they will be forced to assimilate and be injected with nanomachines. Other people's bodies rejected the nanomachines and their immune system started to fight these nanomachines. Because of this doctors often diagnose fetuses that are at risk of nanomachine rejection and often genetically modify these fetuses. Oftentimes they grow fox ears which are vestigial, however these fox ears can somehow move apparently. They also grow fox tails due to the elongated tail bone of the person, these tails can be around 1-9 tails, the cause of this is unknown but people like to call the treatment 'foxification process' since people who are genetically engineered to accept nanomachines into their bodies grow fox ears and fox tails.

People are often diagnosed with Nanomachine Rejection. This is because nanomachines are foreign to the body and the immune system will attempt to kill any foreign entities within it. Around 65% of the population has went through the foxification process. These are known as human-hybrids or also as "Fox Boomers" in some cases. Other people prefer to call them human-hybrids or Kitsunemimi's (Fox Ears).

Cyberization has also been picking up as well. However this was because of the vast amount of wealth some people have accumulated over the years. Not many people are able to afford to augment their bodies with devices and technologies as treatments for these are rather expensive depending how much augmentation the person wishes to recieve. There are 4 distinct forms of cybridization:

- Minimal cyberization, for the purposes of external memory and wireless communication, leaving the brain itself essentially identical to its biological form. Nano-scale interfaces are placed in the cerebellar region, permitting a pluggable interface, and allowing prosthetic parts to be upgraded.

- Partial cyberization, replacing larger parts of the cortex with nanotechnological interfaces and computational elements. However, the autonomic systems of the brain remain intact, which is necessary to retain the "ghost" (ゴースト, gōsuto) (the term used in the series to refer to the soul). Physical improvements are limited to a very thin titanium shell around the cortex.

- Enhanced/Advanced Cyberization, a further extension of the procedure where the cyberbrain is modified specifically to the needs/occupation of the individual, retaining approximately 20% minimum of natural brain tissue. This procedure was initially an extension of the cyberization process for soldiers and victims who suffered neurological damage.

- Full cyberization, in some extreme cases of disease or accident, in which as much as 97.5% of the original brain is replaced with artificial elements.

Around 15% of the population has Enhanced Cyberization, 1% has full cyberization. 24% has partial cybrization and around 30% has minimal cyberization. Making their total population around 70% of the population have some form of technological augmentation into their bodies (including human-hybrids).

Species Traits

Pro

- Experts in the sciences and Engineering: I mean, if they can't do magic they got to be good at something else, right?

- Intelligence: Their systems are able to store more data, thus making them able to store large volumes of infomation.

- Simulations: They are able to go through simulations and reapply them to real world applications. This could come in handy when learning.

- Learning Algorithim: Most brains have a learning algorithim making it easier for Cyborgs to learn things. Installs Google Translate.

- Stronk: Partial cyberization to Full cyberization makes these peeps stronk, as their thicc smooth metal surfaces can lift up thrice (3x) as much than a normal human can for those who are fully cyberized.

- Appliable Augmentations: Augmentations can often be applied, putting on new eyes, new ears or new arms to enhance them or replacing organs with artificial ones.

- Increased Lifespan: Minimal cyberization increases lifespan by +100 years, Partial cyberization increases it by +150 years, Enhanced/Advanced Cyberization increases lifespan by +200 years, Full cyberization increases lifespan by +250 years.

Neutral

- Average human guy or gal: Did you expect any superior hearing or any certain defining traits that makes them better? Think again. They are your average joe (unless they have went through cyberization >_>)

- Human Lifespan: These Humans can live up to 100 years. Nothing abnormal.

Cons

- Magic? My son welcome to life, fairies don't exist.: You may blame human ignorance for this, but these people don't believe in magic, they will attempt to explain it's properties but you know. Magic is magic and is unexplainable by science. This also doesn't allow them the ability to harness, produce, or utilize machines built upon magic properties, magic itself, mana, etc.

- Wasteful? Yes.: Humans are wasteful, they indulge in their greed. While Kemonomica may be a smol nation, this land wasn't made for you and me >_>. Hey don't look at me, blame Stellaris for that.

- Xeno's! Witches! They are everywhere!: yes, while human-hybrids can be considered as a different species, they existed because the doctors had no choice but to implement fox-like ears and fox-like tails. But hey, if the people are from abroad, they will have a slight dislike with new competition comming into the nation. If the people practice magic, I already explained that humans don't believe in Magic. Why would they believe in the people who practice it? They can try and explain it but they will get fustrated in defining its properties.

- Updates required: Don't expect your cyber immune system to run smoothly in the long run. People still have to update their malware systems, firewalls, cyber security, etc. So that the risk of Cyberbrain hijacking are reduced, Cyberbrain Hijacking where a hacker hacks into the brain of a Cyborg to do unlawful things.

- Maintenance: Sometimes the metal may get damaged or just needs some greasing and replenishment. Perhaps a newer module in the case that developers find the old modules rather outdated or problematic. These maintenance may occur within 3-9 months depending on how many implantations the subject may have or how well they have maintained themselves.

Species Traits

Pro

- Cute!: What? Girls with fox ears and fox tails are cute. Ok?

- Experts in the sciences and Engineering: They were originally humans, what you think.

- Conservation: Odd, apparently these Human-Hybrids are more for the conservation of flora and fauna life than humans are. I wonder why. . .

Neutral

- Vestigial Fox Ears: The fox ears doesn't give them any sharp hearing for them, however they move, this could probably be due to neuron cells growing onto the ears thus making it able to move. It may give out hints of how the person is feeling.

- We are alright with you, I guess?: Due to most of these human-hybrids coming from middle class to upper class people of the past. They tend to be rather okay with foreigners due to their appearances being alike. Though this doesn't mean they are alright with illegal aliens or immigrants smuggling in contraband items.

- Genetic code passes on: Yeah. . . I think you know this by now, if a Kitsune and a Human were to have a child. The child would either become human, or another hybrid-human. I mean not too possible, we just tweaked their genetic code to accept Nanomachines into their bodies.

- Human Lifespan: These Fox Boomers can live up to 100 years like humans can.

- We are able to do magic, though we don't know: These Human-Hybrids somehow carried a genetic code that enabled them to harness magic. However, due to legislations preventing them to do magic as well as a society that embraces technology rather than magic. Doctors don't tell them that they are able to wield magic for numerous reasons. Kemonomica being unaccepting towards magic and xeno influences shakes their abilities to even try and perform magic simply because they don't wish to get caught by the Law Enforcement Agencies in Kemonomica as well as their peers.

Cons

- Don't touch there!: They have sensitive ears and tails, just make sure you don't touch them and you won't get electrocuted.

- Organically, not too strong: These Human-Hybrids even though they have been genetically modified, their strength is 2x weaker than humans, as a genetic error occurred during this.
