The Shigu Army

The Shigu primarily uses melee weapons like swords, pikes, and crossbows. However, firearms are also used among their ranks. Firearms are rare and costly as they are recently introduced to the Shigu. Their composite armor provides protection but limits their mobility. The Shigu Military is divided into two sections, the Talyxian for the Shigu military in the home world, and the Silver Ring for the ones on Earth.

Tactics

Shigu tactics are often aimed to be swift strikes and efficient assaults when it comes to offensive moves at an enemy target. In terms of defense, they utilize the environment to their advantage and would hardly surrender due to their honor code. When they attack the enemy, they would often throw smoke grenades at them which would lower the enemy's field of vision. While at it, the Shigu soldiers then throw their grenades and fire their rifles, using firepower to overwhelm the enemy. When it comes to dealing with an enemy fortification, i.e encampments, forts, fortresses, citadels, etc. Artillery will often come first as they believe in overwhelming fire. This is when artillery fire is rained down the enemy forces to cause them to distress. After that, they push through with tanks or infantry, depending on the environment and amount of intelligence gathered before the battle. With a small army and a good manufacturing sector, this is a valid reason to use overwhelming fire. Soldiers are expensive, but bullets are cheap.

Bayonet charges are not that common in The Shigu. Human Wave Offensives were common until they adapted to modern warfare. Therefore, it is only when the enemy or the Shigu runs out of ammo and a Shigu bayonet charge shall be commenced. However, before a bayonet charge should happen, smoke grenades would need to be thrown to limit the enemy's vision. After that they let out their battle cry and charge at the enemy. Before such charges, they would often rally each other, often times with the commander telling them that the enemy will enslave them if they win. But this is if the Shigu is defending. If the Shigu is on the offensive, the commander would tell them that they must win or else they will be captured and tortured by the enemy.

Training

People will be conscripted between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five. There, they would be put through average Shigu military training. Various exercises include: Martial arts, physical training, and firearm training. However, conscription will only occur when the nation is enduring a war. Training Exercises may vary between branch of the Shigu Military.

Training may start when a Shigu child has completed his or her education and is willing to enlist. Certain criteria must include: is willing to serve in the military, is in peak physical and mental condition, and has passed his or her close-quarters-combat training. Criteria may change whether the state is at war and its status during said war.

Swords play a key role in Eltus Combat. Soldiers are tasked to train in swordfighting every now and then to hone their melee combat skills. The Jian and the Dao make excellent swords for Shigu soldiers to fight with. Sometimes, shortened versions of the Jian are mounted on the barrel of rifles, turning the sword into a bayonet that the soldiers will use when conducting a bayonet charge at the enemy. With the advent of cars and tanks, horse-bound cavalry has been replaced. In its place, cavalry tanks will be used in warfare. Bayonet charges are also a thing of the past. With machine guns in the world, soldiers cannot just mount their bayonets and charge at the enemy.
