Etymology

The Principality of Royal Nigaria was originally founded from the aftermath of The Great Tribal Conflict. Taken from the name many tribes called the land around them, the "royal" prefix was given to represent the princes' claims on the land.

The full title of the nation, Nigaria (Nig-air-rea) is linked to the local word for ground, “nigri”, and home, "aron". Therefore, the nation is loosely translated to “homely ground”, in reference to the many nations having called the land home for centuries before.

History

For centuries before the development of the modern Royal Nigaria, the land itself had been under tribal ownership as far as history could find. Prior to The Great Tribal Conflict, there were up to 250 different tribes rivalling for the control and ownership of more land and wealth. Each tribe differed slightly in language, traditions and religion, but all shared a common factor: honour. Honour was seen as the greatest sign of power, with many becoming leaders of tribes simply through actions alone.

As firearms became more readily available to the local population, warfare increased in severity and popularity. Raids on neighbouring tribes became commonplace, with women and children being captured as prizes of the conflicts. These prizes would be shown through the streets and instituted into peoples families as concubines or slaves, however evidence suggests that many were adopted into the family and treated equally.

After centuries of constant fighting, enslaving and war, the tribes entered the final stage before Royal Nigaria's modern age; The Great Tribal Conflict. Over the course of 18 months, almost every tribe was dragged into a conflict spanning across the lands. Alliances brought the unbenownst into war, leading to a culmination of 95% of the local population beginning to be involved in the war effort. Over the course of 50 years, 200 million people were affected from the conflict, of which about 20% died. Mass genocide was commonplace, with entire villages being burnt to the ground.

However, during this period, the now princes became leaders of their tribe through one way or another. Prince Rojo Yerf, being a natural diplomat, brought together the tribes of Yuria, Nagriaga and Osasi, the then three most powerful tribes in the region, and began to slowly control other tribes. They would strike peace deals with the tribes who would, smiting down those who wouldnt. Over the course of three years, the land was tamed and the country was formed.

Population

The population making up the vast majority of Royal Nigaria can be tracked to the 250 tribes who once controlled their regions. However, due to the intermingling of the peoples, these heritages are mixed thoroughly throughout the nation. Due to the size of the dominating tribes from the conflict, though, Nagriagans, Osasi and Yuri'ku families are most prevelant.

The population itself is split roughlyThe population itself is split roughly 66%/33% rural to urban, the vast majority of people living in the countryside working on farms, vineyards and other rural industries. Those living in the cities are seen to have higher levels of education due to the need of more specialised workers in the environment.

Nigarians are generally tall individuals, with males standing at an average of 178.9cm and women at 165.2cm. The average build is that of a slimmer, muscular individual, with the nation sitting at 4.2% of the population malnurished. The average individual is recognisable from their sharp facial features, longer faces, thick black hair and bronze skin.

In total, the population is calculated to be at roughly 100.5 million people.

Religion

Zashanish is the primary religion of the nation, with over 95% of the population worshipping the religion on a regular basis.

The religion is built off of the belief of three gods; Zash, Nafar and Tee. Each god respectively commands what is known as a “plane of existence”, each one representing a different time period and a different aspect of one’s life. Zash controls the first plane of existence, Nafar controls the second plane, with Tee controlling the third.

More information on these gods and what they control can be found in the Religion tab of the factbook.

Government

The nation is ran and controlled by the three princes, each with their respective focus (more in their individual factbooks). However, the princes are supported by their advisory council made up of 30 members; 13 controlled by civilians, 14 controlled by military personnel and three seats reserved for royal personnel.

Although the three princes have the final say on any matter regarding the development and prosperity of the country, the civilian advisers generally manage their aspect of focus across the nation, while the military personnel instead manage regions of the state as governor generals, or Gbogboogbo Ofizar in the local dialect.

Economy

The economy in Royal Nigaria is a diverse one, but has four primary industries; arms manufacturing and development, mining, agriculture and timber.

The arms manufacturing industry is the largest of these industries due to the fact that they develop not only military products for usage, but also use their developments in technology for civilian developments as well. Where a company makes mine-resistant vehicles, they develop a family SUV and so on. On top of the highly militaristic vision the princes have developed, the need for a well designed and planned arms development sector has risen to match.

Mining is also a large component of the Nigarian economy, with the nation being rich in iron, gold and uranium. The industry does see some setbacks with development, however, as mining is taxed moderately to ensure the conservation and development of "green zones" to offset any destruction of habitat.

Agriculturally, the nation produces a large ensemble of goods; meats, grains and coffee being their more commonplace products. However, the country also grows Hashash, as psychoactive drug similar to marijuana that grows like tobacco. Legal in the nation, its the local peoples preferred drug of choice. On top of this, the local honey that is produced has a blue tint, resulting in a high price for the unusual food source.

As for the timber industry, local "black wood" is seen as a luxury wood, being renowned for its black bark and grey wood finish. It takes 25 years to mature but continues to grow for up to 100 years. Alongside maple and acacia trees that dominate the landscape, as well as local oaks, the timber industry exports woods worldwide, as well as manufacturing them into fashionable decor.
