The East Pacific Ministry of Culture | July 2020 Report

My general goal last month was fairly straightforward: Finish up modernizing The East Pacific Ministry of Culture and trying out some new projects to get a sense of what's the best thing to be doing at this time. I decided to go about this with a few large goals.

***
Goal #1: Forum Infrastructure
Status: COMPLETE

A big part of my goals for this month were finishing up with the forum infrastructure. This meant making sure all my dispatches were forum threads and vice versa, but it also consisted of a new poll megathread and suggestion box. All of this was accomplished with little trouble.

***
Goal #2: Project Records
Status: INCOMPLETE

My next big goal was to maintain detailed project records according to a new format I would create myself. While I managed to make the format, based on my past format for the Current Projects dispatch, I only managed to update the Future Projects dispatch, and the Current Projects dispatch remains out-of-date. This will likely be rectified as a minor goal this month.

Goal #3: Festival of The Birds and the Bees
Status: CANCELLED

I wanted to complete the Festival of the Birds and the Bees this month, but a plague of inactivity and disinterest seemed to strike at the least opportune time and it was delayed considerably. It is likely that the Festival overall will be cancelled as the Ministry focuses on smaller things like Game Nights and CYOA Polls, while moving forward with the Late Nite Festival.

Goal #4: Bring Your Own Puppet Day
Status: COMPLETE

An important event, Bring Your Own Puppet day was intended to be finally launched last month, so 15 days ago I opened it up. The first round was a huge success, with half the submissions being solved quickly by a variety of people. The second round was a lot harder for people, with many guesses but only one correct guess, leaving the winners of longevity as a tie. A tie breaker was arranged, but the nations never even attempted a guess at it, leaving it as a stalemate.

Goal #5: Choose Your Own Adventure
Status: CANCELLED

The Choose Your Own Adventure Poll, and by that I mean the one that was chosen early on in my term by a poll, has been delayed too much to be a good usage of manpower, and by now it is likely the original poll has been forgotten by a majority of residents. As such, I believe it is prudent to cancel this project and pave the way for new CYOAs, like the ZUKID-20 polls or the Question of Faith.

Other

Apart from those mildly successful goals, the Ministry of Culture managed to do some good. A Choose Your Own Adventure Poll based on the special issue "A Question of Faith" was designed by Technocratic Tagalog and I, and apart from some cheating on the part of a younger resident, it managed to be very successful, with a lot of people interested in the results. On top of that, I did some testing within a small group of TEPers that was essentially a Skribbl.io match based on prominent figures in the RMB and Government. We also signed up for Thaecia's Late Nite Festival, which will be happening very soon. Overall, despite the somewhat negative results of some of my incomplete goals, I would say it was a rather good month. In regards to the somewhat negative results of some of my incomplete goals, I will likely dream a lot smaller next month due to a full plate IRL and in NS, although I will still get things done.
