Second Thegye Summer Tourney ROUND 1!

Today is the first day of the tournament! Crowds flock to the tournament ring outside the castle, just to the north of the city. All around, banners, streamers, and colorful flags flap in the wind. Adults and children alike speak in excited tones, each one looking forward to the event to come. Jugglers, musicians, and jesters roam the streets, creating an air of jolliness and gaiety. From the taverns, shouts and songs can be heard from the early partyers, getting their fill of the cheap beer. At the ring itself, already the seats have begun to fill up, and the guests of honor begin to arrive. Soon, only standing room will be left for the onlookers. The trumpets sound the royal fanfare as the Diarchs make their way to their thrones. Seated, the Diarchs extend their hands and signal the beginning of the tourney. Let the best warrior win!

RADIM "THE PRETENDER" vs. GWYNDAF REES

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

The contestants circled each other for a minute, each looking for an opening in the other. Gwyndaf struck out first, his sword creating a flashing arc as it moved towards Radim. Diving out of the way, the Kretazan rolled to his feet. Striking back with his falchion, Radim just missed Gwyndaf's arm and struck his foot, bruising it. Swinging back the other end of his polearm, Radim connected with Gwyndaf's helmet, knocking him to the ground. Following through, the Kretazan attempted to strike his opponent in the head. Rolling out of the way, Gwyndaf rolled to his feet and swiped at Radim's legs, delivering a deep cut to his knee, followed by a swift up-cut from the pommel of his weapon, knocking Radim flat out. Getting up, Gwyndaf leans over, nods, and looks up. "Well, he's not pretending!" Gwyndaf Rees from Sebero Sree wins, beating from Radim "the Pretender" of The Great Protectorate!

Forlty vs. Minas "Igloo Crusher" Jaakko

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

Roaring and charging forward, Minas raised his mighty sledgehammer above his head and brought it crashing down on Forlty's head. Stumbling back, she fell to the ground, blood streaming from her skull. Following up his massive first strike, Minas brought down another crushing blow, also to Forlty's head. The Santa Carinan warrior screamed and fell back, her skull profusely bleeding onto the sand. Minas roared a challenge to the sky, living up to his moniker of "Igloo Crusher" and crushing is opponent. Minas "Igloo Crusher" Jaakko, the contestant from Greater Tagrai wins, defeating Forlty of Santa Carina Wheels!

Diogenis Antonouis vs. Cadog Rhys

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

As the warriors size each other up, Cadog taunts Diogenis. However, the Champion of Thegye doesn't fall for it and simply ignores the Gwrageddian's attempts. Choosing a more direct approach, Cadog charges forward. However, Diogenis, experienced as he is, foresaw the move and stuck out with his spear, knocking Cadog back. Rushing forward, Diogenis struck downwards at his floored opponent, but simply hit his shield. Pushing upwards with his shield, Cadog threw Diogenis back, shattering his wooden spear and slicing a line across his cheek with his sword. Another strike from Cadog whizzed past Diogenis, just missing. Diogenis struck forward with his blunt stick but was caught and bludgeoned with a shield to the face. Falling backward, Diogenis didn't get back up. Victorious, Cadog wrested the laurel Champion crown from Diogenis's head and presented it to the Diarchs. A new champion would be chosen! Cadog Rhys, the contestant from Gwragedd wins, defeating Diogenis Antonoius of Aramos!

KINYEZDA "THRICE-CURSED" vs. JEROME BANISTER

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

Kinyezda, Champion of the Lost, readied his polearm for the first clash. Jerome, raising his sword, knocked aside the Krotoi's weapon and sliced downwards, just barely missing a full connect with his sword. Recovering well, the Englishman kicked out with his boot, striking Kinyezda squarely on the chest and throwing him down. Winded, the Krotoi had no time to recover, just rolling out of the way of Jerome as he stabbed at the grounded Kinyezda. Anticipating this move, Jerome slashed out, striking the kneeling Kinyezda on his shoulder, the steel biting into the muscles there. Knowing his opponent was defeated, the Englishman cracked the Krotoi on the head with his pommel. It seems the Champion of the Lost may truly be the lost. Jerome Banister, the contestant from Ellenburg wins, defeating Kinyezda "Thrice-Cursed" of Peraro Krotoik!

THÉO BERNHARDT vs. BILLY NIGHT

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

As soon as the signal is sounded, Billy Night draws back his short bow and looses an arrow at his opponent. He misses his target, the arrow whistling past Theo and grazing his cheek. Theo rushed forward and rammed Billy with his shield, but the Thegyan was quick to his feet. However, his bow had been knocked to the ground; while fumbling to draw his short sword, Theo sliced downwards with his sword, leaving Billy with a nasty cut on his arm. Pulling out his sword, Billy grimaced through the pain and slashed at the Aryd. Receiving a nick on his hand, Theo dropped his weapon, allowing Billy to give him a blow square to the chest. Slicing upwards, he caught Theo's right shoulder with the tip of his blade, but overestimated and swung too hard. Spinning around from the force of his own blow, Billy was left exposed, allowing the Aryd to land a cracking blow on his skullcap. Billy fell to the ground, unconscious. Théo Bernhardt, the contestant from Arydland wins, defeating Billy Night of Thegye!

As the last contestants leave the ring, the crowd begins to disperse. Soon, the Diarchs rise, announce that the second round of the tourney and the defeated bracket will begin tomorrow morning, and depart for the ensuing feast. The rest of the crowd leaves, some heading home, others to parties, and still others to the taverns to celebrate wins or losses. All in all, everyone has enjoyed the first day of the tourney and many look forward to the events tomorrow!
