Regional Politics

A Mini Beginning

Minimark has been delegate for 16 days at the time of writing this. But even his actions in the office have him taking on more offices. He pushed to become RAC moderator, and is now the Moderator-Elect of the RARC. As he keeps absorbing power, what has he done with the power he already has? Well, lets discuss the 4 treaties he has signed as of recently. One was with Japan and was just a refugee treaty in case of emergency. The Second is a full treaty with the Moderate Alliance, allowing them to RP with us and permitting joint citizenship and discussion between our Regions. The third is with Krillin, and is another full treaty. We can Roleplay in Krillin and Vice Versa and migrate there. The final one with the biggest Region is the Union of Democrats, which establishes refugee relations and cross RP. The Union of Democrats has active RP and would be a good place to join in. Anyways, Minimark has said he will be not as active as delegate for a bit as we get ready to return to the war known as "education". But a promising start indeed, with Region Name having relations with several young and growing regions. But Minimark warned cut downs are happening soons, and some longtime embassies might need to be disposed of.

Roleplay Developments

War Is A Religion

Exciting new events transpired over the past few days, concerning most currently active nations. It all started when Senor Hacherl took over Overlord Hellerer's land in Antarctica, seemingly while no one was looking, as Hellerer didn't realize this had happened until reminded by Minimark a few days later. Instantly after this Hellerer sent his Navy south, making a base in Apostian land with Piesan troops. The three armies then landed in Antarctica, instantly sieging Hacherl's land, blocking all ships from coming in and out of Antarctica. Hacherl then attempted to bait the soldiers with poisoned soup and hot chocolate, killing roughly 8 soldiers. While all of this conflict was distracting Pius, however, Fredmenton attempted to invade Canada. Fred attempted to use Guerilla warfare and various war tactics to his advantage, and achieved a semi-victory after signing a peace treaty with Pius granting him Eastern Quebec but ceding his New England claims. After all of this, Senor Hacherl, clearly seeing that he's lost the battle, kills himself, and is succeeded by Joseph Hacherl Jr. soon after. The capital of Hacherl was confirmed to be destroyed around the same time. At that time, Apost was quoted in saying “Guys, taking and retaking Quebec in 5 minutes is dumb. Give it some time before your operations are completed" concerning the state of conflict in Canada between Pius and Fredmenton. Not much more happened until Mithilia got involved in the conflict, sending their entire Navy, specifically to blockade against Fredmenton and break their human shield in which they put citizens on the front lines after getting an intercepted message that Pius was planning on invading Fredmenton with a large alliance of 9 nations. Fredmenton grabbed South Airlandia and they destroyed the MS Supernova, causing a Mithilian retreat and dissolving of the blockade. War resumes Sunday as it was believed time was needed for these actions to really happen.

Regional Economy a Bust?

Although Mundane as RARC Moderator was able to establish a Regional Economy with his committee, the economy role-play that Minimark and others were so looking forward to has been very slim. With the two new maps, one chart, and multiple bills, you’d think things would get going quite smoothly, but it really hasn’t. Besides the Fredmenton attempt at starting something by selling low-priced corn to both Mundane and Mithilia, absolutely nothing has occurred.

Role-play is on the up-tick, but as the region moves forward, the economy might not be included. Even though the economy is severely being demoted in priorities of the region, some nations are starting to gain global influence. Apost, the nation of colonies across the globe, is starting to gain some prestige as a global trader and a holder of a strong military. He fought in the most recent war and did quite well at defeating the opponent and he has gotten a reputation, as some nations have started to avoid him when on endeavors.

Start (And Finish) Your Engines

In the Region Name Automotive Racing League there are only two races left, the Hippodrome 500 and the Victory 400. Before those two races decide the fate of the league, let's take a look at the competitors who are still in the game.
In 8th place we have V. Johnston who despite having a race win in the regular season and one in the round of 16, has stagnated to the bottom of the heap. In 7th there is B. Billberry who just barely made it into the playoffs, had a race and stage win in the round of 16 and has held on ever since. We have a three way tie for 4th with B. Duke, N. Webb, and L. Combs. Duke had a decent regular season with one stage win and has been finishing well enough to keep himself in the running. Webb had an outstanding regular season with two race and stage wins, led after the round of 16 and has been keeping on with the group ever since. Combs was another star of the regular season with two race and stage wins and took a stage win in both the round of 16 and the round of 12. In 3rd we have J. Henderson who had four stage wins in the regular season and has carried himself with that into the round of 8. In 2nd we have M. Hellerer who had one race and stage win in the regular season and carried himself to the round of 8 where he is the only driver with a stage win. Finally, the leader of the pack K. Harper. Harper had two stage and race wins in the regular season where he topped the league. He has kept this momentum up, winning all but the round of 16 in the playoffs and is the favorite to win the League.

Playoffs, Playoffs Everywhere

With the unexpected announcement that the Regional Chess Association will be jumping directly into their playoffs and the Region Name Baseball League bringing their regular season to a close, it appears that all summer sports in Region Name are coming to an end. While this may be sad news to Baseball and Chess fans, there is still plenty of excitement to be had in these areas.
The RCA quickly jumped into high gear with their sudden playoff announcement last Thursday and so a post mortem is due for their regular season. The Pius Phoenixes and the Nordlich Knights both finished their seasons in an unspectacular fashion. They fell far behind the rest of the league and with good reason. Both teams had poor performing players who could barely get their teams going. Moving on to the Rorgiaburg Ranks and Mundane En Passants who tied the league for fifth. Both of these teams had decent records but nothing spectacular, however the En Passants are tied in their playoff series and the Ranks are leading their series so these teams still have time to turn their seasons around. The tied for second Hellererian Chemists are an interesting team as they have more draws than any other team and have gotten themselves into the playoffs with it. The Apost Checkersmen who share the tie for second have gotten to this place by having a decent mix of wins and draws. The Mithilia Commies, the third part of the second place tie have gotten to their position by having a team that goes for a win or dies trying. So far it has worked as they sit with more wins than any other team, but will it cost them in the playoffs. At the top sit the New Gwapington Hmmmmmmms who hold that position by one point through a good mix of wins and draws. In the first round of the playoffs The Ranks lead the Checkersmen 1-0 and the Chemists are tied with the En Passants with 0.5 apiece.
In the RNLB the playoffs have just begun as well and so we first go to those who we will not be seeing in the first round. In the Regonian Division, the Herat Afgahnistan Gamers and the Old Utamville Mechanics fell short. The Gamers had a fairly decent season but fell short in Home Runs and so they fell short in the standings. The Mechanics had a most unlucky season with failures in pitching and Home Runs despite hosting the best batting average in the league led by star Seager Mac and so they are left behind to prepare for next season. In the Namean Division, the Pius II Panthers and the Pius Phoenixes miss the party. The Phoenixes had a generally lousy season with almost no upside except that they sometimes got lucky enough to win a few games. The Panthers made much more progress as they made it to the play in game of the playoffs but got blown out 13-3 by the Patronus Pelicans. Also not in the first round of the playoffs are the division leaders, the Los Veganos Venom and the Eedenburgh Enterprise. The Venom had a relatively poor batting average but really secured their spot with their home run total. The Enterprise were a powerhouse this season, leading the league in home runs while supporting a decent batting average. The only downside to the Enterprise is that they traded their star pitcher Samual Chester to the Mechanics and so they will not have him around for the playoffs.
In the first round of the playoffs we have the Hellererian Chemists against the Nova Nitros. Both teams sport heavy batting rosters (Nitros have star batter Kameron Winters) with not much defence. These teams can be counted on to get men on base often against each other and in their first game went 10 innings with an 8-9 win for the Chemists. The other first round games are between the Patronus Pelicans and the Jefferson DC Capitalists. The Pelicans had a moderate season and only made their way into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth. The Capitalists on the other hand are a star ridden team with a strong batter in Thomas "P.I." Magnum and a strong pitching staff with Orville “Rick” Wright and Angus “Mac” MacGyver sitting in the top three at the end of the regular season. Despite this power difference, the Pelicans lead the series 1-0 after a 9-10 win.
