Response and Rebuttal to Condemnation Proposal

Greetings members of the World Assembly,

Makdon's proposal to condemn The Land of Kings and Emperors does not meet the standards of quality and accuracy expected of World Assembly resolutions. Due to a lack of thorough research, and a failure to cross-reference and place events in their proper context, the proposing nation has inaccurately described key details within the resolution. There are several clauses with outright inaccuracies. Even those clauses without outright inaccuracies do not fairly reflect the circumstances that they purport to describe.

Moreover, despite some of these inaccuracies being drawn to the attention of the author by third parties, the author has failed to correct them and persisted in pursuing the resolution in this form. This demonstrates reckless disregard for the truth and for the World Assembly.

Due to the inaccuracies and disregard illustrated, the LKE invites you to vote Against the condemnation. If you would like to read more details regarding the matters described in the resolution, the LKE's regional government has produced the following rebuttal to key points within the resolution for your consideration.

Appalled by the vast number of invasions that LKE has been responsible for throughout its long history, invading too many regions to comprehensively list, but including:

South Pacific, another region that LKE cruelly occupied twice, and committed an egregious act against during the second occupation, when over 1000 regional message board posts were suppressed, undoubtedly causing dismay and outrage among the natives,

The LKE has occupied South Pacific only once, not twice. The resolution's claim that we did so twice is false. On the occasion in June 2016 when the regional message board posts of South Pacific were suppressed, the previous delegate had changed their national flag to an image of the LKE's flag burning and several of their national fields to insults directed at the LKE. The suppression of the RMB posts was a proportionate response to that behaviour. The LKE does not typically suppress RMB posts in this way as part of military operations. The suppression of the RMB posts was reversible and left no lasting damage.

The LKE has never led an invasion of either Hippiedom or The Union. Indeed, of the six regions named in the list in the final bullet point, only The Union of Red Nations (in April 2017) and Australia (in October 2013, as part of the UIAF) have been subject to an LKE-led occupation. In February 2014, the LKE conducted tag raids (with no occupation) of Agartha (not "Argartha") and Zhe Intranational Communist. Overall, the clause is significantly inaccurate in attributing invasions to the LKE for which we were not responsible.

Cognizant that the Land of Kings and Emperors (LKE) is the oldest currently active imperialist region, and of LKE’s consistent pretense that they are not truly an “invader” organization due to their imperialist ideology, despite their consistent and vile history of raiding and associating with raiders,

A raider region is a region which primarily exists for, and is structured around, the purpose of raiding for its own sake, not a region which engages in invasions. From any objective standpoint, the character and regional activities of the LKE are very different from past and present raider regions such as The Black Hawks, Lone Wolves United, The Black Riders and DEN. Far from maintaining any pretense, the LKE has always plainly acknowledged that we retain the sovereign right to undertake military action, including raids and defences; in this, the LKE is no more "raider" than the majority of Game-Created Regions. Similarly, the LKE is far from the only non-raider region to have conducted operations alongside raider regions over the years. Conducting operations alongside raider regions is not a strong justification for a condemnation resolution.

Dismayed by the war that the LKE, as a member of the UIAF, conducted against The Founderless Region Alliance (FRA) and The United Defenders League (UDL), stalwart defending organizations committed to protecting regions from menaces like LKE, and that this resulted in the sacking of many regions, such as the United Defenders League, Belgium, Middle Earth, Liberty Alliance, Scotland, Eastern Europe, and the Soviet Union, some of which had no or only tenuous connections to the FRA and UDL,

Firstly, the LKE did not conduct any wars against the FRA and the UDL "as a member of the UIAF". The LKE declared and pursued war against the FRA and the UDL in May 2010 and April 2012 respectively, at times when the UIAF was not in existence (in any of its incarnations). The UIAF was the joint command structure and flag of the combined militaries of the LKE, TNI and, after its admission in August 2013, Albion. The UIAF was an instrument of its member-regions when they worked in unison, not a sovereign actor itself. It had no objectives separate from those of its member-regions. The LKE and TNI were at war with the FRA and the UDL, and Albion was happy to support that, which is why the UIAF conducted operations against those targets. Not all UIAF operations were aimed at FRA or the UDL and it was never claimed that was the case.

Secondly, the LKE's wars against the FRA and the UDL were with justification. The FRA invaded the founded LKE dominion of United Kingdom of Britain (UKB). The FRA subsequently claimed that they thought we were invading the region, but they are fully responsible and accountable for their actions for moving into our sovereign territory. When informed by the LKE's Foreign Minister that UKB was a founded dominion and a region created by the LKE's founder, the FRA Intelligence Minister Chin-Chillas sent back a telegram saying that they opposed imperialism "in all its forms". That was the FRA's explicit stance at the time. As for the UDL, they re-created an LKE jump point (after it had been left to cease to exist) called "The Dominion of Munster" (named after our dominion of Munster) and put the words 'Lifted from LKE tyranny.' on the World Factbook Entry - a disrespectful and provocative act that demonstrated intent to violate LKE sovereignty. In both cases, the LKE had good reason to take action.

Thirdly, once again, the list of regions selected does support the description given in the clause as a whole:

- Belgium was not invaded by the UIAF (in any incarnation) at any point. Most notably Belgium was invaded by TNI in February 2012 (leading to the invasion of TRR), after the 2010 UIAF incarnation and before the 2013-15 UIAF incarnations. Belgium was invaded again, after the UIAF's existence, by the LKE in January 2016. As such, Belgium doesn't belong in the UIAF clause.

- Liberty Alliance was invaded in an LKE-led operation in August 2015. This was after the UIAF was dissolved in March 2015. Leadership of the operation belonged to the LKE alone, not the LKE as part of the UIAF. Furthermore, Liberty Alliance was a member-region of the FRA at the time, so hardly matches the description of having no or tenuous connection to the FRA.

- Soviet Union and The United Defenders League were both invaded by the UIAF with the LKE as a co-lead party (although Soviet Union was invaded more notably by TNI with LKE support on two occasions, in 2007-08 and in 2012). Like Liberty Alliance, Soviet Union was an FRA member-region. The United Defenders League was the UDL's placeholder. Soviet Union and The United Defenders League were both connected to the FRA and UDL.

- Of the three regions left (out of seven mentioned), that leaves only Scotland, Eastern Europe and Middle Earth as having been invaded by the LKE "as a member of the UIAF" despite having no FRA or the UDL connection. However the UIAF never claimed to only invade regions linked to the FRA or the UDL. Brief occupations were frequently conducted for other purposes, such as developing diplomatic links. Scotland, for instance, was invaded in March 2014 as part of a joint operation between the UIAF and The North Pacific to commemorate the latter's ties with Albion, another member of the UIAF. Furthermore, the resolutions refers to the "sacking" of these regions. No tangible damage was inflicted on any of these regions beyond the duration of the occupation. There is nothing to distinguish the UIAF's actions in this regard from the operations of several other independent regions.

Disgusted by LKE’s association and military involvement with multiple brutal raiding regions, such as DEN, the Black Riders, Lone Wolves United, Osiris, and The Black Hawks, some of which have been condemned by this body, with which they have committed many cruel invasions of regions, oftentimes entering with the raiding forces or piling on to support later, including but by no means limited to Hogwarts, The Soviet Bloc, Ixnay, Canada, the Coalition of Catholic States, Region Inc, Equestria, the Atheist Empire, Forest, Philippines, Westphalia, Iran, SECFanatics, Dharma, Capitalist Paradise, Concosia, North Atlantic, St Abbaddon, Christmas, Anarchy, Japan, and ASEAN

The invasions of Concosia and North Atlantic were led by The New Inquisition, not by any of the raider regions listed at the start of this clause. As such, they do not belong in this clause.

The August 2014 invasion of Canada began as a joint operation of the UIAF, The West Pacific and The Black Hawks (with a UIAF-flagged point). After satisfying its objectives, the UIAF subsequently transferred the operation to TBH as the sole lead party. As such, Canada was not an invasion which the LKE reinforced, but an invasion which the LKE led as part of the UIAF. The placing of Canada in this clause is inaccurate.

Rebuking in particular the raid of Slavia in UIAF’s war with the FRA, during which UIAF forces held the region for months despite the fact that Slavia was in the process of resigning from the FRA before the invasion took place, and as such LKE was knowingly holding an innocent, uninvolved, and active community hostage and using their war as an excuse for vile conquering,

The UIAF invaded Slavia, but it was not the "UIAF's war". It was the LKE and TNI's war, with the UIAF as their instrument.

Slavia was a member of the FRA at the time of the invasion. After the invasion, it transpired that there had been a failed attempt by Slavia to resign, but Slavia had not resigned under the terms of the FRA Charter. When Slavia joined the FRA, it agreed to abide by the FRA Charter and the terms of membership therein. In addition, prior to the UIAF's invasion, there was far from unanimity about resigning from the FRA within Slavia, so it is quite possible (with the failed attempt to resign) that they may not have successfully resigned subsequently if not for the UIAF's mission convincing them to do so.

In any case, as an FRA region, Slavia was a wholly legitimate target in a declared war fought against the FRA. When Slavia joined the FRA, it was years after the LKE's declaration of war and it knew perfectly well the risk that it was taking. Portraying Slavia as an "innocent" uninvolved party is not warranted. Indeed, Slavia subsequently acknowledged that it was an FRA member-region at the time of the invasion.

The resolution says that "UIAF forces held the region for months". The occupation lasted from 3rd January until 21st February, less than two months, so describing this as "months" is not the most precise form of description.

Aware that LKE used connections with Gatesville to leverage negotiations when Osiris was couped by The dourian embassy, and that this ultimately led to the liberation of Osiris, but recognizing that this extended the period during which Osiris was under outside control, that in this time notable natives were unjustly ejected and generally mistreated, that the negotiations resulted in the destruction of the Kemetic Republic of Osiris, replaced by an Osirian government that advocated for the invasion of other regions and rejected all FRA influence, and that LKE and the entire imperialist sphere used the situation for their own personal and political gain,

The claim "that this [the LKE and TNI operation] extended the period during which Osiris was under outside control" is an opinion, not a fact, and not an opinion supported by a strong evidential basis. In fact, there is every chance that Gatesville's control of the region could have lasted substantially longer without the initiative by the LKE and TNI, which was conducted with the consent and cooperation of the government of Osiris.

Furthermore, the negotiations which the LKE secured did not "[result] in the destruction of the Kemetic Republic of Osiris, replaced by an Osirian government that advocated for the invasion of other regions and rejected all FRA influence". The negotiations were a charade under which Gatesville was deceived by both the LKE/TNI and Osiris. In line with their discussions with the LKE and TNI beforehand, Osiris subsequently renounced all of the terms announced. The sovereign choices that Osiris subsequently made - in terms of political system and becoming closer to the imperialist sphere - were not something that the LKE imposed on them. To the extent that the LKE benefited, it was because Osiris was grateful for the assistance that the LKE provided.
