Femizonian History - City State

Femizonia was an ancient city state civilization that evolved in isolation from the rest of the world on an island surrounded on all sides by mountains, located to the west of Tronna. Unlike the majority of the world, the Femizons evolved into a female dominated society, with women being the warriors, land owners, and leaders of their civilization, while the male population were the home keepers and caretakers, with little to no freedoms or rights.

Upon finally finding safe passage through the mountains that enclosed their island city state, and emerging on the beaches, they began to wonder and theorize what was beyond the edge of the horizon. Displaying incredible ingenuity, the Femizons managed to expand their city through the mountain ranges, known as the Crown Mountains, and along the beaches.

After nearly a millennia of expansion, eventually the Femizons technological capabilities, curiosity, and need of resources to support their now impressive island city, combined and they set sail on the sea to discover what lay beyond what their eyes could see.

Tronna, still only just a city state much like Femizonia, was the first civilization the Femizons encountered. At first, the two kingdoms were confused by the gender roles in each others societies. The Femizons, having never encountered any other culture aside from their own, didn't think that anything other than their societal structure could exist. The Tronnanonianites on the other hand, had encountered many other cultures on the main land, none of which were structured like the Femizons. Despite the differences and confusion there was a level of intrigue on both nations behalf's, and it is believed that the two actually tried to partake in trade and build a relationship together.

However, in only a short period of time, the Femizons grew to distrust Tronna and its society. They felt that Tronnan society was opressive of it's female population due to it's drastic differences, and likely would not have appreciated the gruesome depiction of the mythological character Elisa Cuthbert's appearance and death in it's foundation myth, a character that the Femizons felt a great affinity for. This of course was quite hypocritical of the Femizons, considering how they treated the males of their society.

In an effort to liberate the women of Tronna and punish the men, Femizonia launched an attack on Tronna. The Tronnanonianite military leaders, soldiers, and likely society in general, are said to have taken the Femizons lightly due to all their soldiers being women, and as a result the Femizons captured a quick and decisive victory over the lethargic Tronnan defense efforts. As a result of this the early city state of Tronna became a tributary state of Femizonia for over a century.

The defeat and subsequent servitude at the hands of the Femizons was bitterly embarrassing for the Tronnan population. This defeat would actually be the spark that lead the Tronnan people to develop into their soldier state era, and eventually the downfall of the Femizonian civilization.

The Tronnan elite felt like the only way to combat the ultimate female warrior, was by developing the ultimate male warrior. Over the course of the next 5 or so generations, the warrior training regiment that would one day define Tronna during its first empire evolved. At birth all male baby's were inspected by city elders. If they babies were sick or disfigured, they were ironically cast in to the waters of Keengodes Bay, the giant bay the Tronnanonianites built their city on and named after their cultures main goddess, and second most important deity in their pantheon, the Goddess of the family, mothers, and childbirth.

From the ages of 5-18, surviving males would enter a secret military training school instead of going to normal school, where they would only learn about military strategy, all things combat, and reading and writing. At 18, the men would be sent to the wilderness with only a weapon, and barely any clothing. They had 2 years to return to the city, but only if they sported the pelt of a ferocious beast. If a male survived this test but was unable to attain the pelt within two years, they were expected either kill themselves or remain in exile for the rest of their lifes. Upon completion of this phase the men would enter the military for a 5 year period, after which they would finally be able to return to their families, but would be expected to remain persistently honing their fighting skills.

Eventually after 120 years of servitude, the Femizons were defeated by Tronna and driven back to their home. While this defeat did effectively end the Femizonian Civilization, it did not result in the obliteration of the Femizonian people, nor their island city. With both the Tronnan and Femizonian peoples being warrior races, they had developed a great respect for each other. As a result, Tronna allowed the Femizons to become part of their civilization which some historians regard as the first province in the Tronnan empire, despite being centuries away from officially declaring themselves an empire.
