Royal Cup

The Royal Cup (Kup Krolok) is an annual knockout football competition in Keltsvian football, organized by the Royal Keltsvian Football Federation. This tournament has the so-called "redemption round" that offers a bigger chance to small teams to appear in the semi-finals and thus, to the final.

Competition format

The tournament consists in 6 knock-out rounds, all of them in the stadium of the local team with the exception of the 2 last rounds, held in a neutral venue:

  • 1st round (23 matches): 46 teams will play a match against other teams selected randomly. Each team is the best team of each one of the 46 Keltsvian provinces playing in their respective provincial divisions. 22 winning teams are classified for the 2nd round and one team will be qualified to the redemption match randomly, having a chance to qualify for the semi-finals. The team pairs will be selected randomly.

  • 2nd round (16 matches): to the 22 winning teams classified for the second round, the 10 teams of the Second Division are added but in this round they play as visitors. The Second Division teams will not play between themselves. The 16 winning teams will be classified for the 3rd round. The team pairs will be selected randomly.

  • 3rd round (13 matches): to the 22 winning teams classified for the third round, the 10 teams of the First Division are added but in this round they play as visitors. The First Division teams will not play between themselves. 12 winning teams are classified for the 4th round and and one team will be qualified to the redemption match randomly, having a chance to qualify for the semi-finals. The team pairs will be selected randomly.

  • 4th round (6 matches): the classified teams from the previous round will arrive to this round and the 3 winning teams will go to the semi-finals. The team pairs will be selected randomly.

  • Redemption match: this match will be held at the same time as the 4th round, between the removed teams from the first and the third rounds. The winning team will be classified for the semi-finals.

  • Semi-finals (2 matches): the winning teams of the 4th round and the winning team of the redemption match will be qualified for this round. The team pairs will be selected randomly.

  • 3rd place match: between the losing teams of the semi-finals.

  • Final match: the last match between the winning teams of the semi-finals. Both teams will qualify for the semi-finals of the Supercup but only one will win the Royal Cup.
