4 more months of Senator Dendro lets goooooo

Hi! ^-^

My name is Dendrobium, big nerd, professional idiot, member of Solidarity, and current Senator in the Thaecian Senate, and I am seeking re-election. In this factbook I will give a short explanation of who I am and why you should vote for me. So sit back, take a snack and a drink (stay hydrated), and allow me to begin.

As mentioned, I am Dendrobium. Some of you might not know me (that well), so to briefly summarize: I have been in Thaecia for exactly one year now (give or take) and have been a Senator for 8 consecutive months of that. Being a member of Solidarity, I am a person who is open to progressive and positive reform, and have been advocating for that for quite some time now. My favorite color is rainbow and my favorite number is triangle.

  • In the last few months in the Senate, countless of bills have been discussed, amended and voted on. Those who have had the (dis)pleasure of sharing their term with me will probably tell you I have participated in nearly all of them in some way; from holding fierce debates on treaties, to proposing amendments left and right, to arguing for and against certain changes brought before us, heck, I think I even proposed an amendment during a voting periode one time, accidentally exploiting some rules and extending time spent on the bill that way... That was fun... Point is, I'm an active Senator and when re-elected intend to remain as active as I can possibly be!

  • Thaecia is more than just a region on this silly site: it's a community. A community of some of the best people I have met and in which I am very active (at least I like to think so). Everyday I try to take a look in the discord or RMB, to hang out, chat with people, share some memes, tell Andy to go to sleep, ... The list goes on! Now this doesn't simply mean I have too much spare time and desperately need to find a hobby, it also means everyday I come close to the people who make up this wonderful region and who I, as Senator, am supposed to represent. Though, thinking of it, I should probably find a hobby as well...

  • Lately a lot of new political parties have sprung up, to the point I can't even keep track of them, and I'm assuming some of you can't either. So saying x-party is bad and y-party is good has no good purpose (although we all know TRP Solidarity is the best one ;) ). For that reason, as I have been doing during my last two terms, I will not be voting or debating based on party, but based on content. If a bill is bad, it gets a big ol' Nay; if a bill is good, sure, slap an Aye on that baby. There is no point to toxicity based on one's allignment, and toxicity is something I nor Soldarity stand for. What I do stand for, is positivity, progress, co-operation and good vibes. Conclusion, if you vote for me, good vibes are guaranteed.

So, uh, yea... That's about it really... Tada! If there is anything you should remember from all this, it is that I have been at least half a decent Senator for the last few months and voting for me means four more months of me being a fool and bringing some positive, progressive, much-needed change to the Senate. Stay hydrated, stay healthy, check your posture, and have a wonderful rest of your day.

(Dendrobium asking you nicely to vote for them)

Good morning, evening and afternoon guys, gals and non-binary palls of Thaecia!

This is my, Dendrobium's, official public announcement that I am running for a seat in the Senate in the upcoming General Elections. If you do not know me, then that is because this is the first time since I arrived in Thaecia (almost exactly 3 months ago) that I am running for an official position in our wonderful region.
Obviously I won’t just come at you and tell you to vote for me just because I said so (though it would be nice if you did anyway), and that is precisely why I have prepared a handy list of some issues I wish to handle once elected:

  • A sense of community that is completely open to newcomers:
While a lot of you reading this have probably been in Thaecia for a long, long time, many people are also brand-new. We have all been there. Not knowing what everything was about, not quite understanding how the regional government works, and unsure about who exactly this Marv guy is. That is why I will fight for a continuation and expansion of our welcoming program so Thaecia can truly be a region for anyone. Whether a Thaecian University or maybe some sort of crash course is the best way to do this, in combination with our already great RMB and Discord welcoming team, should be looked deeper into.

  • Internal, governmental improvements:
Since the time I joined this region until now, I have been an observer of Thaecian politics, law and elections. Especially that last one has always been quite special in my eyes: no less than 40% of the times I voted in Thaecia so far have been on Snap Elections, and while I don't blame anyone for resigning their post due to personal reasons, it does make one wonder what the point is of even holding actual General or Midterm elections, if they don't seem to matter all that much anyway? Political engagement of citizens is good, but I don't believe this is the best possible way to do it, and that is why I want to look into what can be done about improving Thaecian electoral and governmental structures internally.

  • A steady integration of real life issues:
NationStates is a politically-loaded simulation game where real life topics can be handled in a light-hearted and in a humerous way. It does, however, also to bring attention to issues we should maybe think about: social activism and climate change are just some examples. So why not integrate similar themes into Thaecia? Now I don't mean that in a way of "WA members must pay more taxes" or "war criminals from the RP should be held accountable", no. I mean that in a way of raising awareness and providing support for debate and real life political engagement, even more so than is already the case with a public debate.

All this, of course, is not possible without your help. That is why I ask you to consider my candidacy. True, some topics summed up above may seem a little hard or difficult to put into action, and a lot of other issues that will undoubtably be brought up in the future will need to be handled and debated on as well. So I believe Co-operation and public integration are the key. Polls and a co-operative government that works together through the different organs of our great region will be and already are essential, and I will do everything I can to follow up on my promises by working together with my (hopefully) future-co-officials.
Now you may still wonder, why in the world should you vote for this “Dendrobium” anyway? Well, simply put, because in the time I have spent in Thaecia I have gathered up enough information and knowledge (at least I hope) and especially enthousiasm to help our region be even greater than it already is. It may never be perfect and probably never will, and that is perfectly fine too, but if you vote for me, I promise I will do my damn best to make Thaecia as good as it can possibly be!

Have a wonderful day and stay healthy,
