Sevae for Senate - Short And Sweet

Hello! For those who don't know me I'm the current Assistant Minister for Notices and Press Relations in Thaecia, the Minister of World Assembly Affairs of Europeia, and the Minordomo of Foreign Affairs of Sky Haven. I am also a former 2-term MP, my latest term ended around a month ago.

What I'm trying to say is - I have experience and you can trust me to do my job. Frankly, I won't be the perfect Senator who is active 24/7 - I'm learning to balance NS and real life. But I will be a worthy addition to the Senate. Still not convinced? Here is a brief overview of my policies

1. I'm globalist and cosmopolitan - I have citizenship in five regions and hold government positions in three. What does it mean for a Senator? I support reaching out to other regions, which is why I would be willing to ratify most treaties as long as I believe they advance Thaecian values and don't infringe on our sovereignty - which most treaties would because I trust the Executive to be competent. From my time in FA-oriented positions I know when a treaty is good and when it has major loopholes, and would argue my position in good faith.

2. I believe in freedom of the Executive. The Congress has the job of overseeing it, granted - and I would not hesitate to ask Ministers questions in private, and if I am not satisfied, motion for a hearing. But I would not vote for a law that infringes upon the Executive's freedom to act and fulfil their campaign promises - after all, the People have put trust in elected officials, and the Senate has put trust in appointed ones - so let them do their job, and correct the course if they're off it - I strongly believe that we overuse legislation for something a simple oversight hearing could rectify. I support amending the Military Commission Act to only include guidelines, and take away the Senate's power to know about operations before they happen (OpSec ftw) and if i wanted the TEA to withdraw from an operation, I would initiate a petition as a private citizen - that's what petitions are for!

3. Constitutional Convention - our Constitution and most laws seem to contain more loopholes than words, and that's why we urgently need a Convention. We are quickly becoming one of the most influential and connected UCRs, which is why it's very concerning that with the current state of affairs, one person could easily make our region fall apart like a house of cards.

4. There should be more competition in elections, and I'm not sure just reducing the Senate would help - we still choose the candidates based on confidence and not on their policies. At this point I could honestly see benefit in a unicameral chamber of 15-17 seats - to make things competitive and to make laws pass or fail more quickly. Honestly, I would also LOVE a unicameral system where you can debate multiple laws at the same time - perhaps with multiple regions (The Thaecian Senate 2, 3, 4, ..., n). Would do wonders for the speed with which laws pass.

That's it! Thanks for your attention
