Welcome to Africa

New nations are highly encouraged to join the WA before doing anything else: page=un

Hujambo!

Nationstates isn't just about your own nation - with its own issues and policies, it's also about a community of nations interacting with each other. This is what Africa is about, helping develop your nation in a larger community of nations, not just within nationstates answering issues, but in areas of roleplay, events, governance, and the World Assembly. Africa is always open to her community, helping bring a diverse number nations in one place so they can put their ideas together and build a strong region centred around a vast, diverse, and ancient continent that is open for everyone.

Government

Africa is currently under an interim government, headed by the Executor, Mombombu, while the region grows enough to develop a functioning democracy. This government retains many functions of the original democracy under Africa's constitution; an executive position outside the founder (previously the delegate), admin positions and roles, strong engagement by the community, and citizenship. The Executor role therefore is similar to the World Assembly Delegate, the previous head of Africa's government, in that they hold executive power in the region, but are not beholden to elections or stipulations of a constitution.

The Executor and Admins make up the Regional Council, which discusses and votes on issues concerning Africa, her sister, or allied, regions. This includes which embassies to accept, how to defend Africa and her allies, how to manage regional projects, how to engage with the larger nationstates community, and managing Africa’s roleplay and gameplay..

There is currently no purpose for endorsements in the region, and thus you can endorse who you like. Once democratic processes are returned to the government, it will be required that nations endorse the World Assembly Delegate and Admins.

If you would like to take part in a government role, contact Mombombu in discord or through telegram. You must be a citizen of Africa, and be able to act in the role responsibly and capably.

Citizenship

Citizenship opens up the nations of Africa to roles and features of the region, citizenship is intended to teach the history and rules of Africa, and thus shows a commitment by the applying nation. This commitment is seen as absolutely necessary for engaging with certain features of Africa; being part of her defence, keeping Africa and her sister and satellite regions safe from raiders, being part of government and public office, and having access to map space (which is often limited).

Embassies

If you would like to establish an embassy with Africa, you must apply within Africa's discord in the #embassies channel, state your region and intentions for Africa, and notify Admins through @regional council. Your application will be reviewed by the Admin team to see if it follows Africa's Foreign Policy and that such a step will be a commitment to strong, friendly, cooperative, and meaningful relations with the applying region.

History

Africa is one of the oldest regions in Nationstates and was initially founded in 2003. Since that time she has been under several reforms and updates under many World Assembly delegates and through many iterations of RP. She has been founderless, raided, liberated by allied friendly regions, and then re-founded into the Africa we have today, of which 3 years of peace and tranquillity has been with us.

The region’s founder, United Faiths, who been Africa's founder since 2003, ceased to exist in early 2017, with no founder present the region was susceptible to raids.

The Black Hawks, sensing the weakness from the lack of founder after United Faith CTE’d, raided the region and captured it on the 2nd October 2017, and held her until the 15th October 2017.

Africa now stands free after Operation Raindrop on the 28th May 2019, which refounded the region after the founderless period that allowed the Black Hawk raid in October 2017.

Between 2019 and 2020 Africa was a member in the Assembly of Regions, an interregional government that defended, connected, and legislated for her member regions and helped strengthen ties with Africa's allies and friends.

Africa adopted a new constitution in 2021 to reflect the changes that Africa had undergone since Operation Raindrop.

The need to recuperate activity after a lull period pushed forward the African Renaissance and the position of Executor under which a new Africa would be developed to strengthen the region and position her to developing a stronger future democracy.
