(WIP) IFAF

The IFAF (International Federation of Association Football) is the international governing body of association football. Founded in 1871, the association is the dominant organization that oversees international association football among the nations of Refugia. Headquartered in the District of Patricia, Melenavenia, its membership comprises all the internationally recognized nations of Refugia. The organization divides the teams into 5 different regional confederations. The national associations must also be members of one of the confederations into which Refugia is divided: NC (North Confederation), WCC (West-Central Confederation), CC (Central Confederation), ECC (East-Central Confederation), and SC (South Confederation). Transcontinental nations are part of the confederation with the least members to bolster competitiveness within the confederations.

In the beginning, the IFAF only had a men's league; however, that league was joined by a women's league in 1972, and in 2004 the leagues were merged into all-gender's league, opening the door for people of all gender identities to compete. The IFAF strongly advocates for physical health, gender equity, and ensuring access to sports. IFAF is also the organization responsible for setting the laws of the game; however, it must receive overwhelming votes of support from international teams to implement a proposed rule change. IFAF is funded solely through sponsorships and uses those funds to organize events, such as the coveted World Cup. It expects all nations to be able to fund their teams, with certain exceptions for extraordinary circumstances.

Players are pooled from association football clubs from all over Refugia that associate with IFAF, and players can choose which nation they wish to pledge their sporting allegiance to; however, it is up to the discretion of the international teams to choose which players they wish to have as part of their squad.

IFAF is led by a president elected by the players on the squads of the international teams, and the presidents serve unlimited 10-year terms. This term length was chosen because the average football player's career lasts 8-11 years, so that new generations of footballers would have a chance to be represented by a president that they believe represents them best. The president is charged with all aspects of management of the organization, such as finance, public relations, and player and staff working conditions. A president can be removed from power if a majority of players vote to have them impeached from the position, but this has never come to fruition.
