Bago-Yangon Nova Nuclear Power Plant is a nuclear power plant in Bago, Myanmarese SSR that provides 14% of the state's total electricity output.
It is operated by a state company Novafall, a sister company to New Eden Corporation. Ever since the commissioning of the Bago-Yangon Nova Nuclear Power Plant, the site has been met with controversy as the facility is located in an area known as the Sagaing Fault, which is prone to earthquakes. CEO Yuan Zedong of Novafall Nuclear Corporation, at that time, confident in his company's infrastructure technology acquired the surrounding area of the Zalataw Reservoir to construct the power plant after years of convincing the township's mayor, Kaung Kan Wai that his company was able to provide substantial electricity to power Bago city's growing energy demands while promising wealth from selling surplus electricity to Thai SSR. Shortly after its commission, New Eden Corporation acquired Novafall Nuclear Corporation for ₽1.05 billion, which was renamed Novafall Energy Incorporated after the USSR of Saian ban private companies to operate infrastructure deemed "critical to national security." (11 December 1980)

The nuclear power plant consists of 2 BWR reactors,

UR 1 with an ABB Atom BWR 69 at 3253 MW thermal and 1120 MWe net was first grid-connected on 15 November 1980 and commenced commercial operation on 7 July 1981.

UR 2 with an ABB Atom BWR 75 at 3300 MW thermal and 1190 MWe net and was first grid-connected on 3 March 1983 and commenced commercial operation on 21 August 1983. It is a later design with one turbo-alternator.

Other facilities within the Bago-Yangon Nova Nuclear Power Plant are the static inverter of the MM-Thai HVDC connector between Myanmarese SSR and Thai SSR, which is located on the eastern portion of the plant.

28 JUNE 2023 7.3 Earthquake

At 19:24 28 JUNE, 2023, a 7.3 earthquake was recorded near the most outer perimeter of Bago city (17.360788, 96.480094).
The facility suffered a catastrophic structural failure upon the unstable terrain caused by the earthquake, resulting in the failure of the emergency cooling generators which lead to the facility losing total power. At 19:40, Novafall issued a "Code Blue" to Hanoi (USSR Ministry of Energy & the CDCCA) which indicated that they have lost total power and proper communication channels with the nuclear power plant...
