Missiles

Zombie Survival Guide

How do I get cure missiles?

There are three kinds of superweapons you can get (Cure Missiles, Zombie Hordes, Zombie Elimination Teams,) but in The North Pacific we are mainly concerned with Cure Missiles. These can be obtained as a result of choosing the “Research Cure” option on your zombie control page. You will gain Mark I missiles roughly 2-4 hours after the cure option is chosen. You will not be able to use cure missiles until the Mark 1 missile is available.

Each type of missile can also be upgraded to more powerful versions (up to Level 5 missiles,) which again result from keeping that option for several hours. If you change your choice frequently, your weapons will be less powerful than if you choose one thing and stick with it the whole time, so begin researching the cure early, and don't change your mind later!

Development progress of missiles depends on having a zombie population. Avoid curing your zombies down to zero early on, as that will halt your research.

How do missiles work?

Cure missiles target zombie populations and convert them to survivors. The higher rank your missile is, the greater effect it will have on the target population.

Each missile has a cooldown period of thirty (30) seconds, and if you are hit by any kind of superweapon, you cannot use your own for another two (2) minutes.

When I hit one nation, I cured several hundred million zombies, but when I hit another I only cured one million! What gives?

Missile efficiency is based on relative population. No nation can ever be cured by more than about 10% of its zombie population, and no nation can ever cure more zombies than about 10% of its survivor population - though specific proportions vary by the level of the missile, and admins may make changes to the game as they have in prior years. To maximize your effect, use the Target Lists that matches your surviving population.

To put that in numerical terms:

  • A nation with 100 million survivors curing a nation with 100 million zombies will cure roughly 10 million zombies.

  • A nation with 100 million survivors curing a nation with 10 million zombies will cure roughly 1 million zombies.

  • A nation with 10 million survivors curing a nation with 100 million zombies will cure roughly 1 million zombies.

  • A nation with 10 million survivors curing a nation with 10 billion zombies will cure roughly 1 million zombies.

  • A nation with 10 billion survivors curing a nation with 10 million zombies will cure roughly 1 million zombies.

As you can see, relative size counts for a lot! A huge nation trying to cure a tiny nation is a giant waste of time and resources, since they would have a much greater effect if they focused on nations closer to their own size.

This is why it's important to use the Target List appropriate for your surviving population!

Someone keeps hitting me with missiles so I can't do anything! Help!

Sometimes, well-intentioned nations will accidentally keep you from firing your missiles through their dedication to curing you. When this happens and you'd like to play actively, you should send a telegram to the nation or nations responsible. Here's a sample telegram you might send:

Hi there, NationName!

I'd like to ask you to stop sending cure missiles to my nation.

I admire and support your efforts to end the zombie plague and keep me safe. However, I am unable to send out any missiles of my own while yours are hitting me, and I would like to be able to help fight the zombies myself.

Your best bet is to avoid curing nations who have used their cure missiles within the last ten minutes. If you need help finding nations to cure, I recommend you read this: TNP Zombie Survival Guide.

Thanks,
YourNation

Feel free to adapt this sample telegram as you wish!

If the nation doesn't stop sending missiles at you, your next step should be to contact a member of the Surgeon General’s Office on LinkDiscord, who can follow up with that nation on your behalf. If that doesn't work, the Office of Surgeon General will take additional steps.

However, if you have chosen to join the zombies, and especially if you have exported hordes to other nations, our kill squads will be attempting to eliminate your zombie population, and THEY WILL SUCCEED. Everyone in The North Pacific should be working together to research the cure and send cure missiles!

Good luck, and have fun!
