However, time waits for no man, and the time has indeed already come to challenge us again. With increasing tensions on the world stage, it seems that nuclear war stands inevitable on the horizon, such that nearly all nations have been in an ongoing arms race in preparation. The consequences of a nuclear exchange on such a vast scale would be catastrophic. Thus, we must take every measure to defend ourselves and our right to life.
It is not my duty, as president, to command people in their life choices. However, I will be the best guiding hand I can be, and strongly encourage the citizens of Johannes Land to accomplish these ends as well as possible.
Immediately evacuate areas of major population density, especially our capital of Leipzig. It is likely that any attempt to bomb our nation will take place here.
Gather at least 6 months worth of food and water. Government officials will be handing out survival kits, which include a year's worth of dehydrated food and water, a map and compass, a multi-tool, a fire-starter, and a Geiger Counter. These will not be payed for with tax-payer dollars.
Seek out remote areas, such as farm land and wilderness. Private property rights will always apply, so you must ask land-owners for permission to occupy their land.
Be extremely wary of large groups of people, as violent mobs are inevitable.
In the event of a nuclear strike, follow these steps as swiftly as possible:
Do not look at the fireball, it will blind you.
If you are indoors, get away from all windows.
If you are outdoors, get away from any large objects, such as buildings or trees.
Lay down on your stomach facing away from the fireball, with your thumbs in your ears and hands covering your eyes.
When the shock wave reaches you, wait for it to completely pass and for all debris to cease motion before getting up.
Begin moving in the opposite direction of the blast, getting as far away as possible.
If your Geiger Counter detects radiation on your clothes, dispose of them and wash your entire body as thoroughly as possible.
If and when nuclear bombings begin in Johannes Land, frequently use your Geiger Counter to check the radioactivity of the surrounding atmosphere as well as food and water. It can be recharged with a hand crank if necessary.
I sincerely wish luck to all citizens of Johannes Land and the world. If there is a god, let them be with us.
