An overview of Liègès

Liègès, officially known as The United Republic of Liègès, is a sovereign state located on the continent of the Occident on the western coast of the Erebasu landmass.

Liègès is a democracy, with a unitary regionalised system of government, and a semi-direct, semi-representative system of representation (Citizens elect representatives at all levels of government, and can directly involve themselves at the lowest tier of the political system.) In the constitution sovereignty is defined as deriving from the citizens, who hold the guaranteed right of vote and are given direct right of representation in the lowest government tier, taking into account the impossibility to accommodate the entire nation in a single chamber at the national parliament but not wanting to exclude citizens from the democratic process outside of election periods for representatives thus compromising with semi-direct representation.

Liègès is strongly commited to the the values of democracy, human rights and rule of law and is notable for its promotion of these values around the world through economic, political and military pressure on other nations.

The capital city of Liègès is Ricads located in the central-eastern state of Losiris.

The official languages are English and Liègian. The Liègian language is formed of a mix of ancient languages spoken in historic Liègian states and was created as a neutral language for the nation. It has been in decline as a language as English becomes the main spoken and written language in Liègès.

The currency of Liègès is called the Ownuan.
