Laird Vess Delivers Gloomy Opening Speech for Oidhche Shamhna Festival

Laird Sweyn W. Vess gave the opening speech for Stummisburg's annual Oidhche Shamhna festival this last Thursday (October 31st). Our Laird kept his address short, but sweet is not a word most would ascribe the defeatist ramblings.

Vess described the people as "blindly [...] stumbling towards an empty promise," claiming that they were made for it. An uncharacteristic and harsh insult towards all Vessylanians, including himself. One is inclined to wonder what "empty promise" he may have been referring to. So far he has proven himself capable of following through with his campaign's promises, but some question whether his recent diplomatic outings have been as fruitful as reported.

Vess went on to remind the crowd of the mythology behind the celebration they were attending. It is no secret that Vess holds great pride in his Fennish heritage, but critics complain that by so clearly pushing this side of his identity he is straying too far from tradition and intentionally alienating his non-fen voters.

Laird Vess closed his speech with an eerie instruction for attendants to "be here, while here is somewhere you can be."
