Kāingese Creation Myth

The Great Creator awoke to darkness. He looked out upon this nothingness and decided that he needed a place which he could tend and nurture. From his flesh, he moulded the land. His blood, the waters. His breath became the winds and the clouds. He looked about his creation, but was sad. It had form, but it was still barren.
So he slept. In his sleep, he had dreams of a green world with creatures crawling across its surface, swimming in its waters, and flying through its skies. He realized that to make his dream reality, he had to divide his soul and give parts of his new world life. He awoke, and began his work. He took the dirt and water of the world, and mixed more of his flesh in. Then he breathed his soul in. These were the first animals. Then he cut his arm off, and shaped his bone into the first trees. As he finished, he admired his hard work.
Borne from his hands was a living world, and each creature bore a part of him inside it. He then slumbered as the world took its own path.
From the creatures of the land, the many beasts developed. But also the tribes of man were born from them. From the creatures of the sea, all fish, great and small. And finally from the creatures of the sky; birds and bats.
The Great Creator awoke to see how his world had grown, but realized it was still bathed in darkness. So he mixed his breath and spirit, and created the great fire in the sky, which he called the Sun. And from this he broke a piece off, and gave it to man, so that they could cook their food, and have heat and light through the night.
Man greedily used this gift to clear swathes of forest, and the Great Creator witnessed it, going into a rage. He spoke to Mattu, and told him to build a raft and take his family upon it to the Homeland, to refound the tribes. After Mattu was safe, the Creator flooded the world, and killed all the offenders, and started anew.
