Hegemonic Army Forces REDESIGN IN PROGRESS

More Information: Detailed Force Breakdown

First Army Corps
36,000 Active Personnel + 4000 Artillery and Engineering

The First Army Corps are the professional infantry forces of Atnaia. Their training focuses on counter-guerrilla tactics based around urban settings, with command structure centered on the company level. They excel at CQC, but suffer in larger scale confrontations, especially at long range or in open environments. The First Army Corps is currently under the command of Corps General Gil Varstin.

The First Army Corps can trace its existence to the end of the Atnaian Civil War in 1671. Before this period, the armies of Atnaia were frequently raised locally, in the form of peasant levies, with the only "professional army" of substance being colonial expeditionary forces going back to the early 1500s. After the civil war, the need for centralization of the military became clear, and the government adopted measures that created a more permanent professional army with ties directly to the throne. While the First Army Corps can tie its history to this time, it has undergone significant changes over time in terms of strategy and structure.

Notable Companies of the First Army Corps

11th Infantry Company
Nickname: The Pansies
Motto: The Toughest There Are

Pansy Tattoo

The historic 11th Infantry Company is one of Atnaia's most famous military units, tracing it's history back to the Atnaian Civil War. As the story goes, when faced with a much large force of Republican soldiers, the Captain of the company went to discuss terms. The Republican commander remarked "What terms are there to discuss? You pansies won't last the night!" The captain returned to his men, and proceeded to hold the line for a week against the enemy, against all odds. Following reinforcement from the bulk of the Royalist army, the captain was quoted saying, "My boys might be pansies, but they're the toughest pansies there are." The nickname has stuck with the company ever since.

The Pansies are some of the best trained and most well-equipped soldiers in the Atnaian military, selecting only the best-of-the-best to operate within the company. They are trained to operate as small squads, organized towards a larger goal. 11th Company soldiers can often be identified by the pansy tattoo many soldiers get on their forearm.

The Company has been involved in many important operations and battles in their history, most notably during WWII, where they served alongside the Allies in the Battle of Sicily, and during the Military Coup of the 1980s, where they were a notable loyalist military faction, fighting in the Battle of Jakinikburj and the Battle of Purth-Graje.

The Second Army Corps is the private military corps of the Atnaian Army. Formerly a professional army, the Stone Wall Act of 2016 paved the way for the corps to be privatized, with companies bidding on control of various levels of the corps. Divisions are overseen by military commanders, but all troops beneath that level are contracted to a number of PMCs hired by the government.

[size=150]14th Stone Wall Infantry Company
Nickname: Old Soot's Boys
Motto: Here We Are
One of the most important privately controlled military groups in Atnaia, due to its involvement in major operations during the Atnaian Succession Crisis, particularly in and around Port Gray.

[align=center]OSD-T2 Raas Ardekor MBT

Number Owned: 300
Upkeep Cost: $2 Million / year per unit
Armour: 3rd generation composite-matrix; sloped armour modular design
Main armament: 120 mm (4.7 in) smoothbore gun, capable of firing anti-tank guided missiles
Secondary armament:
- 1 X 12.7 mm (0.50 in) MG
- 2 X 7.62 mm (0.300 in) MG
- 1 X 60 mm (2.4 in) internal mortar
- 10 smoke grenades

Developed in Ostehaar, the OSD-T2 is currently being used to replace the army's aging complement of Challenger 1s.
The OSD-T2 is equipped with a 120 mm gun that can fire very powerful munitions with increased penetration effect. The munitions are kept in a protected compartment with a mechanism for semi-automatic firing. The new fire control system includes state-of-the-art components, allowing a more effective implementation of the combat doctrine.

The OSD-T2 is equipped with a new turbocharged diesel engine of 1,520 hp. The engine is controlled by a computer linked to the driver's navigation system and to the Automatic Transmission Set (ATS) developed by the Institute for Special Developments (ISD) in Ostehaar. The engine, combined with the ATS, form a world-class power system. This new power system allowed the developers to design the tank's body for maximum front protection and best driver sight.

For improved backwards driving, the ISD developed a special camera, rendering tank commander instructions and ground assistance obsolete. A full-sphere camera and periscope system lets the driver and the tank commander see the entire battlefield - A useful instrument in urban-warfare situations.

The OSD-T2's systems are utilizes for the protection of the crew: The engine is at the front of the tank, the ammunition is stored in protected compartments, and an automatic fire-extinguisher and a super-pressure NBC system are installed.

In the OSD-T2, the ballistic protection is modular, providing a more effective defense against modern threats by an incease of the tank's "protected area". Roof-protection is present as well, to defend against threats from the air. By making the OSD-T2's composite-matrix armour lighter, the developers have succeeded in increasing the ballistic protection layer without altering the tank's weight.

The OSD-T2 is also installed with the latest Advanced Reactive Protection (ARP) system, also developed by the ISD in Ostehaar. This system does not only destroy incoming threats, but can also identifiy the source of the threat in-time.

V-FV 401 Excelsior MBT

Number Owned: 100
Upkeep Cost: $1.6 Million / year per unit
Armour: Reinforced Aluminium/Steel Alloy
Main armament: 105 mm rifled gun or 105 mm smoothbore
Secondary armament:
.276 Albion coaxial, .276 Albion GPMG

The design itself is actually quite interesting. For one, it's not originally created by Verhun but based on the early designs undertaken at Galahad in Atnaia, a contender in the Atnaian Self Defence Force's bid for an Armored Gun System (AGS) program. In this sense, the Mk.53 is actually related to the American M8, but the main drawback of the Atnaian system was that it was potentially extremely expensive, something most potential clients for the Excelsior could not afford.

Unlike the Atnaian system that had a crew of two men and was equipped with an autoloading mechanism for the gun, the Mk.3 had a crew of four and no automatic loader - although an auto-loader was offered in upgrades. Sufficient manpower was rarely an issue for the type of clients the design was intended for, while complicated mechanical devices might cause maintenance issues. On the other hand, the inclusion of two additional crewmembers along with the size and weight restrictions did cause a number of ergonomic problems, especially inside the turret.

It is well protected with 140mm (turret) or 162mm (hull) thick frontal armour. The excellent armour slope allowed it to deflect most automatic cannon shells, although the fact the armour is made from aluminium alloys decreases its effectiveness somewhat. It is, however, also equipped with smoke grenades, allowing it to conceal its movements and get out of trouble fast if need be.

Its 105mm gun can penetrate even heavier MBTs and is on par with other 105mm guns of its tier. Mobility is also excellent, with the Excelsior accelerating to 32 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 72 km/h.

OSD-FV8 Sjiher IFV

Number Owned: 80
Upkeep Cost: $0.3 Million / year per unit
Main armament: RCWS equipped with a 30/40 mm gun or a missile firing system
Secondary armament:

- 1 X 12.7 mm (0.50 in) M2 machine gun
- 12 smoke grenades

The Sjiher is a family of wheeled armoured fighting vehicles developed by the ISD to replace the ageing M113 used by the Defense Forces of Ostehaar. it is an 8X8 wheeled vehicle, much lighter than the OSD-FV1, weighing less than 23 tons.

Much like its heavier "brother", the Sjiher has been designed for survivability and rapid repair, with modular armor and NBC protection. Like the Oster ODS-T2 MBT and the OSD-FV1 - The Sjiher is also installed with the latest Advanced Reactive Protection (ARP) system, also developed by the ISD.

The Sjiher is armed with a M2 Browning machine gun, and also a state-of-the-art RCWS which may be connected to either a 30/40 mm gun or a missile firing system (such as the anti-tank LinkLAHAT system, for example). 12 Smoke grenade launchers are also carried.

The Sjiher is capable of maneuvering in difficult terrain, powered by a 750 hp (560 kw) diesel engine. Like in the OSD-FV1, the engine is controlled by a computer linked to the driver's navigation system and to the Automatic Transmission Set (ATS) developed by the ISD. It can reach a top speed of around 100 km/h.

The Sjiher can carry up to 12 troops (3 crewmen and 9 fully equipped infantrymen) and one stretcher (or two stretchers and medical equipment on the MEDEVAC version). Two hatches are fitted on the roof.

FVT-1 Tiger IFV

Number Owned: 300
Upkeep Cost: $0.8 Million / year per unit
Armour: modular Composite armor with racks to better protect areas, Armor skirts to protect treads better
Main armament: 30mm Mk1 Autocannon - 400 rounds

Secondary armament:

- 5.56mm Machine gun - 2,250 rounds
- Lance, Anti-tank Guided Missile - 4
- 12 shot 80 mm Grenade Launcher

The FVT-1 Tiger, FVT for Fighting vehicle Type, is an IFV produced by Svalbardian Arms, a relatively new company which started up in 2014. Working in tandem with the Svalbardian government, the company has brought out its first military vehicle. It is state of the art with a year of research going into it.

This IFV was designed in favor of giving the motorized infantry squad it carries combat support, mainly in the form of it's autocannon and anti-tank guided missiles. It is tracked so as to allow it to go where tanks go, and to have better survivability. While it has a bit of a lessened maneuverability, the extra armor and better firepower, more than makes up for that as it is better able to help the infantry complete their mission.

When designing this IFV, Svalbardian Arms went among the Svalbardian Motorized Divisions to see what the troops and commanders thought. This will hopefully lead to a better product.

FV432 Bulldog APCs

Number Owned: 200
Upkeep Cost: $0.2 Million / year per unit
Armour:: 12.7 mm max
Main armament: 7.62 mm L7 GPMG
Secondary armament: smoke dischargers

The FV432 is the armoured personnel carrier variant of the British Army's FV430 series of armoured fighting vehicles. Since its introduction in the 1960s, it has been the most common variant, being used for transporting infantry on the battlefield. In the 1980s, almost 2,500 vehicles were in use, with around 1,500 now remaining in operation - mostly in supporting arms rather than front-line infantry service.

Although the FV432 Series was to have been phased out of service in favour of newer vehicles, such as the Warrior and the CVR(T) series, they are now gradually being upgraded to extend their service into the next decade. Atnaia has been seeking to expand their use, and purchase more in the coming years.

The M119 howitzer is the US designation for the L119 light gun, a lightweight British 105mm howitzer. It can be easily airlifted by helicopter, or dropped by parachute. It does not need a recoil pit.

OSD-RA2 Johrt MLRS

Number Owned: 150
Upkeep Cost: $2 Million / year per unit
Rate of fire: 2 rockets/sec

Effective firing range: 60km

Main armament: 40 120mm launching tubes

The RA2 Johrt is a modern MLRS designed to defeat personnel, armored targets, artillery batteries, command posts, and fortifications. The combat vehicle is capable of controlling fire without preliminary preparation of a position, minimizing the salvo time. It's reported that the crew can reload those tubes within only 4 minutes.

The launcher is made up of 40 120mm launching tubes. The standard rocket of the Johrt is the new Oster 65kg Planks-3 fragmentation or HE rocket, which has a maximum range of 60km - But other variants of the rocket, or other types of 120mm rockets, may be loaded to the system. Rate of fire is a fast as 2 rockets per second - meaning a full salvo time of around 20 seconds. The barrels of the Johrt can be raised up to 60 degrees horizontally and can be turned up to 120 degrees relatively to the chassis, both to the right and to the left.

The Johrt is equipped with modern fire control and navigation systems. Components include a SJD55 command and control terminal, developed in cooperation by Oster electronics companies MetaCon and EE Industries; a LinkTalin 5000 navigation system; and a LinkTDD4 digital intercom system developed by Oster Electronics Industries.

The vehicle uses an Oster LinkMados-DL45 truck chassis, and is powered by an LinkIsuzu 6UZ1XYBW-01 diesel engine, which develops 360hp, bringing the maximum road speed to around 90km/h. The Johrt has a large armoured crew cabin which can accommodate 4 to 6 troops. The vehicle has a ground clearance of 410mm and can ford a depth of 1.4m. It can be transported by C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.

Chinook HC Mk2 Helicopters

Number Owned: 16
Upkeep Cost: $4.25 Million / year per unit

The US Army's next generation Chinook, the CH-47D, entered service in 1982. Improvements from the CH-47C included upgraded engines, composite rotor blades, a redesigned cockpit to reduce pilot workload, redundant and improved electrical systems, an advanced flight control system (FCS) and improved avionics. The RAF returned their original Mk1s to Boeing for upgrading to CH-47D standard, the first of which returned to the UK in 1993.

Three additional HC Mk2 Chinooks were ordered with delivery beginning in 1995. Another six were ordered in 1995 under the Chinook HC Mk2A designation; the main difference between these and the standard Mk2 was the strengthening of the front fuselage to allow the fitting of an aerial refuelling probe in future.

Apache AH1 Medium Helicopters

Number Owned: 100
Upkeep Cost: $5.5 Million / year per unit

The AgustaWestland Apache is a licence-built version of the AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter for the British Army's Army Air Corps. The first eight helicopters were built by Boeing; the remaining 59 were assembled by Westland Helicopters (now part of AgustaWestland) at Yeovil, Somerset in England from Boeing-supplied kits. Changes from the AH-64D include Rolls-Royce Turbomeca engines, a new electronic defensive aids suite and a folding blade mechanism allowing the British version to operate from ships. The helicopter was initially designated WAH-64 by Westland Helicopters and was later designated Apache AH Mk 1 (often shortened to Apache AH1) by the Ministry of Defence. The Apache has been an object of controversy over the fitting of some munitions, such as cluster bombs and thermobaric weapons. Naval trials and temporary deployments at sea have proven the aircraft as an able platform to operate from the decks of ships, which is a unique application of the Apache amongst its operators. British Apaches served in the NATO 2011 military intervention in Libya operating from Royal Navy ships.

The AH-64D Apache Longbow, is equipped with a glass cockpit and advanced sensors, the most noticeable of which being the AN/APG-78 Longbow millimeter-wave fire-control radar (FCR) target acquisition system and the Radar Frequency Interferometer (RFI), housed in a dome located above the main rotor. The radome's raised position enables target detection while the helicopter is behind obstacles (e.g. terrain, trees or buildings). The AN/APG-78 is capable of simultaneously tracking up to 128 targets and engaging up to 16 at once, an attack can be initiated within 30 seconds. A radio modem integrated with the sensor suite allows data to be shared with ground units and other Apaches; allowing them to fire on targets detected by a single helicopter.

Bell CH-146 Griffon Helicopters

Number Owned: 100
Upkeep Cost: $1.5 Million / year per unit

The Bell CH-146 Griffon is the Canadian and Atnaian military variant of the Bell 412EP also designated by Bell as the 412CF, a multi-use utility helicopter. The CH-146 is used in a wide variety of roles, including aerial firepower, reconnaissance, search and rescue and aero-mobility tasks.

The Griffon can be equipped with various specialized bolt-on mission kits, which can enhance the performance of the Griffon, from increasing range, improving protection against enemy fire, etc.[1]

While the CH-146 can be equipped with a total of 13 seats in the cargo area in addition to the two in the front for the aircrew, weight restrictions usually result in a normal combat load of eight equipped troops or fewer depending on armament and fuel carried. The aircraft can also be configured for up to six stretchers.

Minor disassembly permits transport of the Griffon by CC-130 Hercules or CC-177 Globemaster III aircraft for long-distance deployment.
