Kalmar Union Armed Forces

[size=150]The Army[/size]

The army of the Kalmar Union has around 233,000 active personnel, with 330,000 in reserve. It is split up into divisions, each headed by a major general. The leader of the army is Head General Karl Englebrekston, although Prime Minister Stefan Löfven is the ultimate commander-in-chief.

[b]The Archaean Corps[/b] - Named after archaea, prokaryotes who thrive in extremes, this corps has around 1000 elite soldiers who have been trained and equipped to fight in the harshest of environments. They are based on the island of Jan Mayen, where they drill in zero gravity facilities, the Beerenberg volcano, and, occasionally, down South off the coast of Antarctica.

[b]The 1st Mechanized Division[/b] - Based in Stockholm, this division has around 20,000 personnel.

[b]The 2nd Mechanized Division[/b] - Based in Oslo, this division has around 15,000 personnel.

[b]The 3rd Mechanized Division[/b] - Based in Copenhagen, this division has around 15,000 personnel.

[b]The 1st Paratrooper Division[/b] - Based in Stockholm, this division is ready to land into combat with 15,000 personnel.

[b]The 1st Marine Division[/b] - Based in Stockholm, this division undertakes amphibious warfare with 20,000 personnel.

[b]The SAM Regiments[/b] - Scattered across various cities within the Kalmar Union, each of the 12 regiments has 500 troops with SAM missile silos ready to setup a powerful air defense network. 

[b]The Anti-Tank Regiments[/b] - Scattered across various cities within the Kalmar Union, each of the 12 regiments has 500 troops equipped with either electromagnet-propelled MAHEM rocket launchers or M2CGs to destroy incoming tank divisions.

The navy of the Kalmar Union has been its pride ever since the days of the Vikings and remains a force to be reckoned with, touting 115,500 active personnel, 143 ships, and 225 aircraft. It is led by Head Admiral Jan Thornqvist, who reports to Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, who is the commander-in-chief.

[b]The North Atlantic Fleet[/b] - Based in Kristiansand, our strongest fleet makes sure that our interests are protected not only the North Atlantic Ocean but also in the North Sea and Norwegian Sea, where we drill oil. The flagship is the H.M.S. [i]Gustav[/i], a Nimitz-class supercarrier gifted by the Losco-Unionian Commonwealth. It boasts 41 destroyers, 17 frigates, 18 attack submarines, 6 nuclear-powered attack submarines, a patrol craft, a minesweeper, a tracking ship, an oiler, and a medical ship in addition to the flagship that hosts 25 bombers, 30 attack aircraft, and 30 fighter aircraft.

[b]The Baltic Fleet[/b] - Based in Stockholm, this fleet maintains a strong naval presence in the Baltic Sea so that we can protect our interests pertaining to trade and diplomacy in its waters. The flagship is the H.M.S Oslo, a carrier. The fleet has 36 destroyers, 18 frigates, 18 attack submarines, 6 nuclear-powered attack submarines, a patrol craft, a minesweeper, a tracking ship, an oiler, and a medical ship in addition to the flagship that hosts 15 bombers, 20 attack aircraft, and 20 fighter aircraft.

[b]The South Atlantic Fleet[/b] - Based in the Tema, this fleet protects our interests in the South Atlantic as well as Nordic holdings in Africa. The flagship is the H.M.S [i]Karjala[/i], a Gustav-class supercarrier. The fleet has 18 destroyers, 9 frigates, 12 attack submarines, a patrol craft, a minesweeper, a tracking ship, an oiler, and a medical ship in addition to the flagship that hosts 25 bombers, 30 attack aircraft, and 30 fighter aircraft.

[b]The Subantarctic Defense Crew[/b] - Based in Bouvet Island, a Kalmarian dependency and the most remote island in the world, a crew within a lone frigate works to maintain a strategic military presence near, but not within, the Antarctic Circle in order to defend Kalmarian commercial interests.

The Kalmarian Air Force is the smallest component of the Kalmar Union Armed Forces, with only 30,000 personnel and 1,134 active aircraft. The air force is led by Marshall Mats Helgesson, who reports to the commander-in-chief, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven. The air force is stationed in various key cities.

It has 390 fighter aircraft, for which it uses the Saab JAS-39F Gripen. It has 264 bomber aircraft, for which it uses the Saab-Panavia SB-2 Tornado. It also has 110 attack helicopters, for which it uses the Saab SAH-635 Puma. The Kalmarian Air Force is very open to the prospect of stealth technology, already using 130 powerful UI-51 air superiority fighters and expecting a shipment of Dassault-Saab Griffon Vultures from [nation=short]New Metropolitan France[/nation] soon. It has 100 transport craft, for which it uses the Lockheed C-130 Hercules. It has 70 reconnaissance aircraft, for which it uses the Lockheed U-2. It has 70 drones, for which it uses the MQ9 Reaper.
